Thanks to join Microsoft Community where you will find all necessary information about the Windows operating systems.
You can not install Vista Service Pack 2 and get the error 8024000.
If you receive the error Windows Update 8024000, it means that Windows Update is unable to read a file (update manifest) that is required for installation.

Vista - Error Code: 0X80070B7 (could not install Service Pack 2)
Cannot install SP2. 0x80070b7 error code. Also can't install the system tool, but no error code.
Automatic update of Windows attempted to load 4 updates recently, but an error message came up saying that it could not install SP2. The code was 0x80070b7. I tried to install SP1, in the case who had not worked for a long time, but the message is that the 'SP1 Setup is already running. I tried to install the tool of analysis, but all I get is a message saying KB947821 could not be installed. My computer still works until all this happened, and now it crashes after a few minutes of walking. It will be release after 20-30 minutes for a minute or two and then lock up again. Obviously, something happened in automatic installation and now the laptop is somewhere between facilities. I'm away for two weeks and are in desperate need of my computer. What can I do?
Thank you

Laptop from my dad recently started showing "configuration updates 3/3" followed back changes not configured message. It is on a continuous while loop that will sometimes allow windows Vista Home Premium to start. I checked the history of update and the first failure is KB2296011 which shows the error code 800F0816. Currently, I have his laptop but cannot access the internet because it does not connect to the internet via my network (do not have the knowledge necessary for to be difficulty)
Can someone help me solve this recurring problem. If necessary I will be able to access the internet on the laptop question but would like to know a solution offline if possibel. I don't want to pay Microsoft Help for the answer. I'm not very literate pc so a simple solution would be better.
You don't have to pay "Microsoft Help" for a response from the update that you have posted, KB2296011, is a Security update.

800F0816 - express package has not been completely downloaded. The status of the operation was recorded while the package is downloaded. An express package is a package that you are installing by using Windows Update. With these packages, only the files needed for that specific computer are downloaded and installed (unlike when all is downloaded to a computer).
For a 'solution offline' you can try to manually download each update to the computer you are currently using and then transfer to the portable touched with a USB key.
Then see if they install correctly. Given that we do not know all the edits concerned... open Windows Update in Control Panel, and then click View update history link to see updates try to install.
Note that the KB numbers are updated and post them in this thread or,
go to the Microsoft Download Center, enter the KB numbers in the field to Search all Download Center , click the magnifying glass to search and download for Vista updates that correspond to the architecture of the system. (The architecture of the system is displayed when you open System in Control Panel and look at the side of System: type.)Save updates. When the downloads have finished, close the browser and all other open programs and install them one at a time. Suggest that each time you are prompted to restart.
You can configure the phone assigned to the clean boot. Then see if the connection is restored, the updates can be downloaded and installed-

Vista - error code: 80070424 & dt000 (cannot install updates)
I turned on my computer this morning and shortly received the message that updates did not. When I clicked on the message, above what was evidence. I tried to do some troubleshooting on mine, without success. I had received an error message telling me that an unauthorized change was made to Windows (which I did) and that I receive no updates on my license or activation of last week. I went through the process to validate the system. I went for the weekend, and this is what I came back.
I come to you to ask for help. I am running Windows Vista. Any help would be appreciated.

Vista - Error Code: 9370001 (could not install the system preparation tool)
I get an error code 9370001 ever time I try to update my home premium 32-bit systememember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!
Try to download and install manually by download on your desktop and install them one by one. Insert the number of KB to get updates on the right and choose the one corresponding to your version of Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx.
If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. Disable your security software. Then try the updates again. Once this is done (if it worked) don't forget to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.
Also read and execute the steps ofhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.
If this does not help, please transfer your question in Forum Windows Update:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads where updates experts will be happy to help you. Please post with the information requested here:what to post in the Windows Update forum
