  • Vista - Error Codes: 80246007 & 646 (cannot install updates)

When I updated to Vista and MS Office 2007 using Windows updates, download updates, but do not settle, and the error is reported as 80246007 and 646.  I checked the "BITS" service settings that are good ('Automatic' and 'On the road') and the 'repair.bat' after having removed the temporary update files.  None of these solved the problem.  I use MS Security Essentials, but under Malware Protection Virus protection does not work and the message says "Microsoft Security Essentials doesn't have Security Center with a program to solve this problem". I know not whether that is related to the update problem or not.  Suggestions more?  Thank you.

I suggest running the fix that is present in the article mentioned below and check if the problem is resolved.

    Hi shilly3191,

    1. What is the name of the update that you are trying to install?

This problem can occur if the manifest of components (CBS)-based services is corrupted.

Try these steps and check the result.
Step 1: Scanner of sfc (System File Checker) to see if any system file is missing or damaged. To do this, try the following steps:
    a. visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
    b. run the scan successfully.
    c. restart the computer so that the changes take effect and try to install the updates.

Step 2: If the problem persists, perform the upgrade on the spot
    a. see article method 3
    b. check if the problem persists.

  • Vista - Error Codes: 80080005 & dt000 (cannot install updates)

I can't update my computer after installing Norton.  I disable firewall to see if that helped, but still unable to install the updates.  Help!  I have Service Pack 2 installed with Windows Vista 64.

    Hi Kim,

After spending three hours with two different technicians to the Helpdesk of the Norton with no results, I was beginning to think that there is something inherently wrong with my computer.

I disabled all the active protection in Norton and as if by magic, I was able to download and install an update.  Several are waiting... so I hope I have more problems.  My update has been down for several months.  Should not be more than three updates?  I am delighted, it is a great improvement on what I could do before... but I'm worried that I may have missed the most important updates.  I tried to run the Microsoft Diagnostics and to update IE, but without updates - Catch 22 - I couldn't do it.

In any case... ... Well thanks!

  • Vista - Error code: 80070057 & dt000 (cannot install updates)

I can't receive the updates and get these codes in an attempt to "WindowsUpdate_80070057" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

My computer is extremely (10 minutes literally) slow to start when it comes to network connections and Control Panel. I don't know if the issue of the update and the problem of start/network are connected.  After he finished finally start then run fins.  I ran programs to clean up the directory upward and taken on the start programs but does not help the problem.

Note the (KBXXXXXX) KB number associated with the update that you are trying to install. Search the Web using the number as search criteria. Download the update file independent of"Microsoft" and install them manually.

If the problem persists after trying the steps suggested by "Jose Antonio Ponton Posada CEO", I suggest you to manually install the updates one by one on your computer and install it using the cleanboot and check if the problem reappears.

Download and save the Setup on your desktop package and try to install the same one by one and check what update is causing the problem.

To do this, you must enter the number of the Windows Update in the search field in the link provided below.
    Link Download Center
