  • Error code: 800b0100 (unable to install KB975558 & KB981322)

Whenever I run Windows (Vista Home Premium Version 6 SP2) update, KB975558 & KB981322 do not install.  I get the following error: "Code 800 b 0100 Windows Update has encountered an unknown error."  Why?  And, more importantly, how can I fix?

    Thank you very much

    Chuck.

After months of frustration of always having these two updates fail, I went on the www.microsoft.com site, clicked on 'Support', then the Knowledge Base.  Searched KB975558, got 4 results, clicked on Windows Vista on left, who got up to 1 reply.  Kept drilling down until he gave me the opportunity to download and install it manually.  Tried and it seems to have worked.  Have done the same with KB983122 with the same results.  Restarted and machine is still ongoing.  Always a good sign.

This may have solved the problem.  I will follow for a few weeks and try to make account at the time.

An express package is a package that you are installing by using Windows Update. For a 'solution offline' you can try to manually download each update to the computer you are currently using and then transfer to the portable touched with a USB key.
