Vista froze during the update. Can I stop?
Hi all.
I tried to update my friend with Vista Service Pack 1 computer, but it froze during the update. I tried to cancel the download task manager and restarting, but it is now fixed on the 'day of the installation. Do not unplug or turn off your computer"screen. It made no progress. Can you force shut down the computer?
Thank you
Angela
Hello
give him a little more time
If it continues like that and you must stop and restart problems, try the following steps to solve this:
1st thing to try would be a restoration of the system in safe mode
http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm
Windows Vista
Using the F8 method:
- Restart your computer.
- When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
- Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
- Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
- To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
- Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
If that does not read this information
the link below is how to download and get a vista disk startup repair, which you can start from the
http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
Here's how to use startup repair system restore command prompt, etc. to bleepingcomputers link below
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start
It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu
Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

Vista froze during the update...
I have Vista Home Premium on my laptop, and needed to update, which required a reboot. He started to update and froze on a black screen for about a minute... so I went to stop it manually (STUPID!). I turned it and then turn it on again, and it has continued to be updated. When placing updated, it restarted. When we turn it on again, it updated again and restarted again. Now this does not restart, updated, restart and update again. It is still ongoing. Any ideas?
Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.
Since this problem you encounter began after that windows update, you can use the System Restore tool to return your computer to an earlier point in time.
First boot in safe MODE without FAILURE for these tasks
- Restart your computer if it is running.
- Press the F8 key after your computer powers initially.
- Once you see the menu Advanced Startup Options , you can stop tapping.
- Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
- Select Safe Mode with network and press enter.
- You should see loading drivers and then Please wait.
- You should then be on the Welcome screen.
Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
The tool using System Restore may not necessarily help you determine the problem. When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.
Before you start Please back up your data
To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type System Restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
2. in the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore point, and then click on Next.
3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
4. click on finish.
5. the computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.
Start your PC in normal mode
If it is a problem of update, the best way to solve this problem is to apply only updates one at a time to determine which updates is causing this problem.
Click on start-> all programs-> Windows Update, click on change settings in the left menu. Select download updates but let me choose whether to install them, click OK. When you are alerted to install a new update, in this window, click updates see, uncheck all updates and select one at a time, install it, restart your computer, test and update. Once you find the update either continue to ignore it, or look for it at http://support.microsoft.com/.
If please reply and let us know if your problem is resolved or if you need further assistance.

Hey there smbirchler,
Congratulations on your new iPad! Looks like you were updating the iOS version, the device froze, and now you can't pass the white Apple logo screen, even after you try to restore in iTunes. I know how happy I am when I get a new camera, so we'll work together on that, so you are able to enjoy your iPad mini.
We will have you try to use the device in Recovery Mode. Take a look at this article for how to do this:

E5-571 news froze during the update of windows
Hi, my 5 E5-571 days old froze during windows update last night, left on the screen to update from one day to the next, had not changed by the morning, had to close it using the manual key, lit a few hours later, still stuck on the same screen to update, but no progress on the update.
Call the customer support service, informed it was due to an accumulation of static electricity, said to unplug the power cable, press and hold the button to exhaust excess electricity, then plug in and turn on with a press of the button as usual.
Computer worked after that.
I was wondering if this sounds an alarm for other Acer users? Has anyone else had the same problem, and it is called a recurring problem? Is this a known in the community of acer solution (unplug and press the start button to get rid of static correction)?
Would be happy to hear the answers!
Yes, I know difficult.

App froze during the update on my iPad and I can't even delete the app.

Force reboot your iPad.
Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Then try to update this app.

Have tried to solve this problem for weeks. It amazes me how many messages there are involving fixing this and the redirect google/bing, but Microsoft virus has no working solution. If Microsoft knows where things are falsifying why not just correct relevant contested areas? Records contain always goofed upward with user account control too with relocations. Honestly, I don't want even want to User Account Control or ever do sign on my own computer. When I use a computer at home, my firewall and router are fine enough to control the access to the outside. I don't want multiple accounts to home users. I don't know even where to start fixing this recital that a guy from AnswerDesk.com was on my computer for more than 9 hours, while I watched and made a blunder still more things. It has disconnected and never followed. He was probably disgusted with the inability of Microsoft to solve this problem too.
Hi rsnyder345,
· You are trying to install updates?
Follow these methods.
Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.
Disable the anti-virus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable the antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network at the time the anti-virus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the link step 7 to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.
Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
Method 4: Follow the steps in the article.

My MacBook froze during the installation of the update at El Capitan and now I am unable to connect to any except the screen of the guest user. There was a message of panic, and somewhere in there, he said no set of OS. I tried to start without danger, it does not work either.

Don't know what to say; you could see visiting an Apple store with genius if
There is an official store. Usually for best time planning you would contact them for an appointment.
- Make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store Genius Bar
- Find an Apple authorized service provider
- https://locate.Apple.com/country - Apple - find places - selector of country (if outside the U.S.)
Or if there is no official retail Apple Store with genius, the following suggestion would be to contact
a service provider authorized Apple, an independent specialist who is qualified in the repair of Apple.
In any case...

Way around being hung to one outlet during the update of Windows Vista Service Pack 2?
I have a problem, I have a laptop Toshiba where AC internal adapter is broken, it has been for some time - but my buddy has also a Toshiba laptop computer, where I can just return for batteries between the two and this system has worked fine just now, the problem - I could do my Windows updates business as usual until Service Pack 2 for Vista, it will not allow the installation of the update because my laptop is on battery. Is there a way to get around this? I have of course no way to connect to food unless it is repaired, and at this point I just prefer to get a new laptop that money put into this one - I'm hoping somewhere someone has suggestions! :( Help! Thank you!
Hello Victoria MariaElena.
Unfortunately, there is not another way. Your laptop must be powered by the sector during the update to avoid the laptop shut down due to lack of battery power.
