I tried all the recommended solutions that Windows can throw at me, and yet I still can't download these updates for some reason any. Whenever I run the program "Microsoft Fixit" he says it's a mistake and fixing it with success, but I still get the same error when you try to install the updates. I have checked for malware, scanning my computer everything and see nothing.

    Hello

    1. what troubleshooting steps are carried out to solve the problem?

2 were there any hardware or software changes made on the computer before this problem?

When I try to install sp2 it fails when a box pop up appears entitled "spinstall.exe - Unable to locate component" with the following message: -.

This happens as well with the update and sp2 download. Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello dazedandconfuzed, welcome.

I recommend you try a SFC scan first. If this fails, we can try to manually find the DLL file referenced in the error message and see if there are any problems with the file itself.

    Try this:

    1. click on START
    2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes). Right-click on the result at the top of the menu START and select 'run as administrator '.
    3. type sfc/scannow , and then press on enter
    4. then restart your computer

    Hello

With a HP Compaq laptop press you F11 on startup to start the recovery process.

But, like the HP advises, if you install another Vista operating system, the recovery Partition is therefore more able to be used.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Windows 7 Home upgrade Vista Home Premium installation

After you run the compatibility test, I bought a new Windows 7 Home Premium, disabled all viruses or other programs of security and attempted to start the installation.  The initial 'investigation' indicates the presence of "PerfectDisk" which he said I had to uninstall before upgrade installation can begin.  However, I don't have this program on my computer, or anything related to defrag some defrag program that accompanies the computer HP G60 - I can't identify or remove if I wanted to.  I don't know yet how to disable (only can adjust daily/weekly/monthly sync settings, etc.) and do not know what is the name of the program.  All other programs seem to agree for installation to occur.  Is there a way around this problem, as the software will not attempt to load/upgrade as long as this "Perfect Disk" program is visible during the early investigation.

    Ideas or suggestions?

Look under C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x 86) If you are running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista for all records related to the Raxco PerfectDisk, then delete.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/976552

    Andre Da Costa.

Thanks for your very useful suggestions and stick with me on this issue.  I think it has now been resolved.  I saw another post about problems after installing Windows 7 as an upgrade to Vista and read setting up installation PerfectDisk maybe stay in Program files, after that the program is uninstalled.  So, I went to Program files and seen everyone without finding any PerfectDisk anywhere.  However, several years ago, I used PCMover and when I clicked on this program, three files Raxco were still present.  I have now deleted them and will continue the installation of Windows 7 now - that is why, one of these files must have included remnants of PerfectDisk or an earlier version of a defragmentation program.

So, let's see how the upgrade installation is progressing, but at least it is moved in front of the roadblock. »

Thanks for your help - invaluable for someone without experience.

  • Windows Vista KB2887069 update installs, error code: 80070233

I think I downloaded successfully several more recent updates that made the update of obsolete KB2887069.  Because I have successfully downloaded KB2887069 still could not install it because it becomes obsolete compared to my other updates downloaded, I now continue to receive notifications, asking me to restart my computer for KB2887069 to take effect. When I shut down and restart, I keep getting a notice of default download of KB2887069 has been installed in vain. How can I get rid of the update KB2887069 after that I downloaded it already. Because it is not installed, I cannot uninstall it but because I downloaded it, I'm constantly bothered by the notice asking me to restart so KB2887069 will install.  Thank you!

  • Vista Home Basic Edition does install in a dell inspiron 1440.

I bought a laptop that did not come with an operating system because I happened to have a Vista Home Basic installation disc that came with my previous laptop. so I tried to install the operating system, but after that the display shows "windows is loading files...". "this message appears:

Windows has encountered an error... file cannot be found or corrupted.

    file: windows/system32/boot/winload.exe

    error code: 0-xC0000001

What does that mean? I tried twice to reinsert the disc and redo everything but shows same message. is there something wrong with the installation disc? Should what I do to fix this? Thank youi so much.

Recovery of the computer disks are often related to the hardware of the computer that they came with.

Also, you have rules of licensing:

If Vista is preinstalled on your other laptop, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If it is Vista x 86 (32 bit), click on the download link next to "All supported versions x 86 Windows Vista". If it is Vista x 64 (64-bit), click on the download link next to "All supported versions x 64 of Windows Vista". Once the download is completed , go and configure the system to boot. NOTE: If the system is always connected to the internet and a 3rd party firewall was used in normal mode of Windows, then make sure that the native Vista firewall is now enabled by open Windows Firewall in Control Panel.

Once the system has been started in a clean condition, run the system update readiness tool. If you are prompted to, restart the system, when it has finished the race. While still in the State of boot, install the downloaded full standalone package manually SP1 now.
