  • Reinstalled windows (Vista Home Premium upgrade), will not let me activate

I had to reformat/reinstall windows on my Vista Home premium computer, but now when I try to activate, I get an error indicating that the upgrade cannot be used for clean installation. That's fine, because I know that the activation of the phone will operate, but I can't find a phone number for the activation of the phone. When I do the slui.exe 4, he'll need just to options where it asks me to put in the code, then gives me just the error message. He will never give me the option for the offline or activation of the phone (I even tried to unplug my internet). I'm looking for a phone number to get it activated...

The best thing for you to do is repeat the installation, this time as an upgrade of the current, ensuring that you enter the key on request the installation - it should then accept and activate normally.

I have been helped by Mcafee Technical Support 3 times, they couldn't solve the problem from their end, that they told me to ask microsoft. I try here first.

Whenever you switch to a new version of Windows, you must install
drivers for printers, scanners, video cards, etc., that have been
written for this new version of Windows. And also note that you need
different determinants for a 32-bit version of Windows and a 64-bit
    Version.

It is the manufacturer of the hardware to write and
available to download these drivers. Especially if your hardware is
older, it is quite possible that the manufacturer has decided that it is not
a value of his time and effort to develop drivers for the hardware that it is
    selling more.

Check with the manufacturer or on their web site to see if a pilot
There are. If not, you're out of luck.

In the future, before making such an upgrade, make sure you have
done the appropriate research to find out what drivers do not exist,
and so what equipment you need to replace if you upgrade.

    Hello

You are unable to update or upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit of Vista.

32-bit to 64-bit, or 64 bit to 32 bit is done by a new installation using a full version of the operating system.

32-bit and 64-bit are different operating systems.

  • 64 bit sytem with vista home premium which has been randomly locking up and freezing. The error is event 6008.

I have an ACER aspire x 3200 64 bit sytem with vista home premium which has been randomly locking up and freezing. The only mistakes were event 6008 with a description of the stop system prior to (time) on (date) was not planned.
When these errors originally occurred, I returned the system to acer and they installed a new hard drive. After updating the vista system blockages continue 30 times over a period of 3 months. Acer sent me a new disk image on 3 disks that I have installed and updated on 11 October. There is no blocking until the 10/27, 10/28, and for the 3rd time today.
The closed unexpected gives a blue screen if I use the locking system to the top. I have to hold the power to restart when the system crashes.
Can someone help me solve this problem?

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  But I guess it's too late for this for so long that there are probably no so old restore points.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.

If this does not work, then please post repetitive errors in Event Viewer on the stop (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.  From what I understand, there is none of the events (which surprises me because a freeze should certainly generate an error event).

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work (but you NEED a disc).  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

    Good luck!

Also, I will mention this all started when I restored my computer laptop back to factory settings. I did it because that's all I could think about. • Vista Home Premium 64 does not recognize video HDV of Firewire.

I used my Vista 64 computer to edit video standard def captured by firewire for years. Now I'm trying to capture HDV over firewire. When the camcorder is connected and video output Standard DV, capture works very well (and your camcorder appears in the device under imaging devices Manager). However, when I change the output of the HDV camcorder on the same firewire link, the computer gets no video. He is able to control the camcorder to the computer, but no video. Device Manager shows no device under imaging devices. It does not show the camcorder (Sony HVR z 5U) under sound, video and game controllers. But no video is seen. People of capture program (Sony Vegas Pro 9), IE the operating system detects only not the camcorder hdv under imaging devices (as it does with DV out).

    Hi Sharpvideo,

    1. from when are you facing this problem?
2 recent changes on your computer?

You can import video from a videotape in a video camera digital high definition (HDV) on your computer by using import video. When you import video from a videotape in an HDV camera on your computer, the video on the tape is encoded high-definition in a video file and then saved on a hard drive of your computer.
Your computer must be running Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate to import high definition video from a camcorder to your computer by using import video in Windows Vista.
For questions and answers about importing video from an HDV camera, see import of high definition video: frequently asked questions.

To import the entire video from a videotape in an HDV camera

Make sure that your HDV camera is connected to your computer via an IEEE 1394 connection, and then set the HDV camera to playback of recorded video (usually called VTR, VCR, or playback on the camera).
Start Windows Movie Maker (click Start, click all programs, and then click Windows Movie Maker).
On the file menu, click Import from digital video camera.
In the name box, type a name for the video file for the imported video.
Choose a location to save your video file from the import to list, or click Browse to choose another location.
In list Format, high definition video device Format (MPEG) must be selected. Click Next.
Click Import the entire videotape to my computer (if it is not already started), and then click Next.

The video tape will be rewound to the beginning, and the entire videotape will be imported to your computer.
The video file imported high-definition is saved as a file to the Microsoft recorded TV show, which is an MPEG-2 video file with a .dvr-ms file name extension.
(Optional) If you want to stop importing video before the end of the video, click on stop and then click Yes.
    Click Finish.

The imported video is saved as a video file on your computer and appears in Windows Movie Maker.

Right-click on the zt.exe file and choose "Run as Administrator" to launch the program.

See if you are able to play the game.

If this does not work, turn your computer to clean the start State and see if the fgame plays very well.

To put your computer in a clean boot, follow these steps:

Note: If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    1. sign the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    5. click OK and then click on restart.

For more information about the clean boot, see the link below:

  • X 64 Vista Home Premium CHKDSK does not end. No errors.

I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit and I get chkdsk runs whenever I start. It runs from stage 1 and complete with 9% of total. Then he will begin to step 2 and 55% of total and the program will stop. However, Windows will continue to start. The problem is that when I try a system restore, it fails and says that there is errors on the disk C: (part of Windows). I tried using F8 repair this computer option and get the same results. I bought and OEM "Vista repair disk" which looks exactly like the F8 option and she also does not terminate and the system reports errors on the restore disc. I tried the "right click on the hard drive" with windows to the top one and error-checking and it will plan a more late and ending. I got a call from the OEM Disk Checker 3.3 of the RS Software Lab disc verification program. I can get it to run and report errors, but I can't seem to fix. It will also schedule chkdsk to run pre-launch who did not finish. What can I do else?
