Satellite P300: Microsoft Windows Media Player problems
Hi, I have trouble getting all the sounds of WMP 11 after about 10-15 seconds. I can get sound for 10 seconds and then no sound, but WMP still continues to play. Same thing when you try headphones. I have no trouble hearing my TV modem sounds and other sounds of Windows (I have recently changed from 32 to 64-bit one no problem with sound)
My laptop is a Toshiba P300/05Y, P7450, 4 GB of Ram with Windows Vista SP2 x 64 installed. In Device Manager I have drivers listed as Conexant High Definintion SmartAudio 221 and high definition Audio Device (I think this one is for the HDMI output) (there is also a 71st Pinnacle PCTV which is for my modem TV).
I checked the two audio devices are up-to-date with WMP11 - all of which are. What else can I check to get WMP works again? Oh yes, I use the media through the media player (although I did try and play music over there just to see if it made a difference, but not the question)
Just a question:
Have you noticed same problem using another player like WinAmp?I just want to understand if there is a sound problem general or simply associated with WMP 11.
Is that what you have installed this update?
Did you also install the codecs or codec package such as K-lite -

Windows vista Media Player will not play mp3 or wma files
my windows vista Ultimate 64 player will not play any of my wma or mp3 files. said that I did not have the codex of right. but wma and wmv are windows. What's new?
Hi rpwerner,
Please use the forum for Support of Vista,
This is a codec package from Microsoft you want to download to see if it will be useful. Also, try to update your Windows Media Player and Windows Update to get the latest version of the codec required to play the type of media.
You can also use your favorite search engine to look for codec packs available on the web to help you read the content.

Vista media player read xvid mpeg-4 (xvid).
Need a reliable site to download xvid mpeg-4 (xvid) for vista.
Hello
Windows Media Player 11 has no native support for the mp4 file. You will need to install an MPEG-4 decoder for play. For more details, see the following article:Warning: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Take a look at the attachment provided with email.
It has a file name, and at the end of the file name, there are 3 letters.
The 3 letters are the file format of the attachment.Windows Media Player only supports the following file formats:
Video files: .asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wmaIf your audio or video attachments do not have one of the above file formats, Windows Media Player will not play them.
In this case, you will need to go to the web, google for a FREE audio or video converter. Use the converter and change the file formats.
For the video format, I highly recommend WMV format because it's more reliable.
For the audio format, use mp3, wma or wav, in that order. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

I downloaded many mp3 files on my computer and now want to burn CDs. It is said that this file is not a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the control panel of link value. I have absolutely no idea what it this. A month ago I was not having problem with my Windows media player. I don't know what to do. I have Windows Vista. It came bundled with my computer so I can't uninstall & reinstall.

Try this...
Start > default programs > associate a type of file or Protocol with a program > wait for loading > top left, under name, scroll down until you see mp3, click > everywhere, look under current by default, it should say Windows Media Player...
If it does not say that, click on change program... > in the open with window, select Windows Media Player > click OK
See the screenshots for illustration...Hope this will help.
