Vista not loading - just get a white screen with the mouse pointer

Hi using Vista for a while now, 4 years, no probs real.  Then two days the PC crashes, and trying to restart the option repair (recommended) came, or start Windows normally, selected repair option, opens Windows screen, then a mouse pointer and that is it, have tried all the options by using the form F8 but never went to the same point, can not use safe mode , don't be filled disc no at all to repair or reload.  Impossible to get even at command proment unless I'm missing a way to get this up on the screen.

Help please,

Hello

1 him comes from the operating system that is pre-installed on the computer?
2. do you get an error message when you try to start in safe mode?

You can turn off all external devices (except the mouse and keyboard), and then try to start.

If you are able to start in safe mode, you need to get a windows vista dvd to solve the problem
If you are able to organize a windows vista dvd, you can perform a startup repair
You may also contact the computer manufacturer to obtain a windows vista dvd

  • WIN8 - no desktop, black screen with the mouse pointer. Manager tasks and the login screen work.

As usual I left my computer and after a few minutes, he fell asleep. Next morning, I had moved to the mouse, computer wakes, but I got a black screen with the mouse pointer. I hit CTRL + Alt + Delete and screen with Task Manager option appeared. I stop computer and rebooted. Welcome screen and logon is displayed. After you enter the password and click on submit that the screen becomes black with only the pointer visible mouse. I don't have not installed anything recently. Can you help me find my office?

OK, I had the same problem. I thought that if you have a pointer and can launch Manager tasks and all programs through its file > new task, then the hull works correctly. No office and no taskbar mean that something is wrong with explorer.exe. Now, he has corrupted not necessarily, may not properly launched.

    Here's what I did:

    1. I opened the Task Manager, the Details tab

    2. I killed all explorer.exe on the list

    3. just to be safe, I also tried to kill dwm.exe but it will be may not be necessary (it never goes away)

    4. I started the new instance of explorer.exe via file > run

And voila, I had the desktop and the taskbar.

    It will be useful.

  • Windows Vista starts with only a black screen with the mouse pointer.

Saturday, 02/27/10, I left my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1405 E) because I used Studio to produce a couple of videos.  When I got up in the morning, he himself had closed.  I tried to put on normally, and he said: recovery error windows, then on lists: Launch Startup Repair tool and start windows normally.  I tried to do a repair, but it just comes back to the same screen.  When I try to boot normally, it shows the progress on the background as usual bar, but then he comes up to a black screen with a mouse pointer.  When I run one of the many diagnostic tests, it is said that the BIOS cannot find the operating system loader.  I'm pretty adept at computers, but nothing I've tried before reinstalling Vista works.  I have files that I need to keep it on the computer, and only a few of them are saved.  Please help me soon, as I need for my school musical production on Thursday.

    Hello

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel
-Double click - Driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - device Manager - map - graph
then right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
is CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and END PROCESS on it.
then on the tab Applications - lower right - new task - the type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is
accessible by tapping F8 as you start several times.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all hotfix is usually a hit or miss
base. That there is no information on a black screen as there is just a blue screen
adds to the difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect.
You can try a google to see the proposed repairs, whom some have worked however these
cover a wide field of efforts.

  • Satellite L300D starts in a white screen with the mouse cursor

    Hello

Asked by my friends to help them solve their L300D. Their son had him and they are not sure of what he did, but now when it loads in VIsta, all they get is a black screen with a cursor of mouse in the middle. The slider looks as if it was a less than normal display resolution.

I thought that this would be easily fixed by running a restore, but it did the same thing when I load restore (via the holding company 0 at startup) and even the copy of Windows 7, I tried to install as well.

I think it might be a hardware problem, but before bringing them to contact Toshiba Service for warranty repair, I thought I could post it here and see if anyone has suggestions on what it could be.

    Hello

Hey good buddy, if the same question is displayed if you load the function of food and also with Windows 7 I think that it s a hardware problem.
You can try to load the BIOS default settings maybe it works.

To be honest, I think the best way is, you contact the nearest authorized service provider. Technicians can check the mobile and Exchange material, if there is a hardware problem.

Help! I was loading some CD last night in iTunes and let run all night. This am, I tried to wake up the PC again to a white screen with a mobile mouse arrow.  I sought the advice so far and found this informative link:

Step 1: reset - MADE - always have a white screen with the mouse arrow.

Step 2: Unfortunately, I don't have an external monitor

Step 3: recovery of BIOS - DONE - always have a white screen with the mouse arrow.

Step 4: reinstall the memory modules - DONE - always have a white screen with the mouse arrow.

I restarted in Normal mode; In SafeMode... all with the same result = an empty space of the screen, a mobile mouse arrow... but I can't seem to Windows.

    Help, please.

  • After have logged you on you yahoo this am, my calendar and Notepad have disappeared. When I click on it I just get a white screen. I'm not very computer and need help getting them back.

When I usually go in the mail from yahoo, there are an icon on the upper left side to access my calendar and a Notepad. They are both gone, but there is a field in the lower left corner that has the buttons. When I click on one or the other, I just get a white screen. I have not updated to Firefox to a new version and can't imagine what happened during the night.

It sounds more as if it was a temporary problem with the site Web of Yahoo mail. At this point, my advice is to see if this gets fixed in a few hours. If not, please come back (in fact, FRY without worrying and let us know if your problem is resolved).

  • Windows XP does not start, I get a blue screen with STOP: 0x0000007E (0 x 0000005, 0 xC0000001, 0xF7AA13D4, 0xF7AA1D0)

so I used Spybot S & D to get rid of a virus on my computer that I thought was spyware. (basically what made the virus was redirect all my research on google for websites ad). After what's happened, he said I had to reboot my computer so I don't, Spybot run and then asked me a bunch of changes and whether to 'allow' or 'ignore' or 'refuse the change. I don't know if this has caused, but I clicked on 'allow' or 'deny change' for many of them, and then neither firefox nor IE would work because both would be would break whenever I tried to use them.

so to remedy THIS problem, I tried to use "System Restore" last week when my laptop was working fine, but the system restore everything screwed up my worst computer. Now XP will not boot even upward, and I get a blue screen with the error "STOP: 0x00000007E (0 x 0000005, 0 xC0000001, 0xF7AA13D4, 0xF7AA1D0) ' and its a cycle with no end of restarting but XP never works.

I tried the safe mode, last good configuration, all these options, known and none got XP to start.

I am so lost on what to do, can anyone help me?

    Thanks for all your comments

    rdjfdhar,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  If you can try to boot mode safe mode with command prompt, and then run the following commands.

    Chkdsk /r

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315265

    sfc/scannow

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

If you cannot start mode safe mode with command prompt, then you need to boot from your XP CD recovery console and run these commands.  Post back with the results.
