Vista permissions

I am the administrator and I am using Vista Home computer owner. Even with my permissions that are defined as 'administrator' tells me that I don't have permissions. The special permissions to the permissions tab is grey.  I can't click on URL links in an Excel document: he says "you don't have permission...". ».

I checked my permissions, can not go in the special permissions as it is gray. Is there a solution?

Go to start / default of programs / Set Program Access and Computer Defaults / Custom / choose a default browser / click on the button for Internet Explorer and check the box next to it to allow access to this program.  Click OK to close that.  Reset.  Now, open Excel and try to access a link - it should work.  Not having a browser by default different or no default will cause many programs to do not open links and set it as a problem of permissions for some reason any.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

    Hi Janny1,

    JavaScript should not have to turn off. Try to completely uninstall Flash Player and then reinstalling the most recent version. If you have not installed Flash Player, or you have just uninstalled the Flash Player, download and install the latest Adobe Flash Player, available in the Adobe Flash Player Download Center.

  • In my 32 bit Vista system, I messed up my permissions

    I want to change my permissions administrator and have completely messed up. I have 3 icons for Accts... (1) AdminBarbara - set as a Standard user, protected, white (2), administrator password, password protected, and (3) comments - ACCT. comments turned off.

    I really just need an account administrator, password protected.  I need all the permissions for this account.  When I finally stopped and restarted my PC, it does not required a password to connect.

    Can someone please tell me in simple English how to put my PC where it was?  I read ' how tos' and help until I get tired and confused.

    Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Specifications of the PC:

    Gateway T5062 - X 86-based PC

    Hi Barbara,

    I understand that you'd need to account only one user with administrator rights and password protected. Correct me if I misunderstood the question.

    (1) you have access to the empty account?

    (2) you want to Admin Barbara as administrator account and delete other user accounts?

    To set any user with the password protected administrator account you must have access to the administrator. If you have access to the administrator account, I you suggest to change the type of your account you want the administrator account and then try to create a password for the account.

  • tool to repair permissions in vista?

    Somehow my permissions changed on some of my programs and they do not work at this time.  I was wondering if there was a tool that was offered in Vista at the prompt of commands I could type and fix mty permissions as the "System File Checker" for example.

    Hello

    You need a command prompt to run it.

    Read how to run the SFC:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

      The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

    And for other programs > you can right click on the Desktop icon, etc. > and then select run as administrator

    See you soon.

  • To get permissions on partition sorted after reinstall (Win7 - > Vista)

    Hi, I used to have Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) on my computer, but for many reasons, I decided to reinstall Vista Home Premium (32 bit).

    I have 2 partitions: one for Windows and program files (c) and the other for all my personal files (d) nicknamed libraries.

    When I reinstalled, I formatted C: but left alone D:. Now, Windows wonder admin permissions just to move files to and from different folders!

    I have already set permissions of owner over the entire partition (less the startup folder, as apparently that's where the BootMgr is) "Alucai-PC\Administrators" and "Users (Alucai-PC\Users)" to have full control.

    Should Windows always be prompting me for administrator permissions if users have full control?

    Should I make users be owner instead?

    I have one account user on this computer, and this is an administrator account.

    Anyway, I solved it myself by changing the permissions of the property "Alucai (Alucai-PC\Users)" or similar. All I had to do was look a folder on the C: drive (IE my Dropbox folder) to see its permissions, and then set the permissions of the D: drive to the same.

  • Requested help recovering from the change that I did for the 'Public' of Vista Home Premium file permissions for everyone

    I made a blunder when changing the permissions of public folders for everyone.  I am now connected to Vista Home Premium on my home PC as an Admin will be complete permissiongs.  When I right click on the folder Public, pooling and property options are both now gone.  How to restore the availability of these options?  Also, I can access to is no longer the files that I previously copied into the Public folder.  How can I restore my access to these files?

    Have you started with elevated privileges command prompt? Just running in the administrator account is not enough. Looks like you don't have because it starts in your user directory. If you were high would begin in the Windows\System32 directory.

    See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Command-Prompt-frequently-asked-questions

    Orders, you should get something like this:

    Takeown /f /a C:\Users\Public
    ICACLS C:\Users\Public/Grant "BUILTIN\Users: (F)".
    ICACLS C:\Users\Public/Grant "Administrators: (F)".

    ICACLS C:\Users\Public\*.*/Grant "BUILTIN\Users: (F)".
    ICACLS C:\Users\Public\*.*/Grant "Administrators: (F)".

    I can't guarantee that this will fix your system. You must give permissions for the system and other users accounts.  If you have access to another system, I would compare the settings there. These programs will help you determine the permissions associated with a system

    (2) is there a way to reset or restore my system? I don't like to lose anything it all. I saved what I want or need. I just want to start from scratch...

    In fact, I have 1 other question... Whole reason I messed my permissions first is because I've had this laptop second hand and I did EVERYTHING to get rid of the old owners as a user name and I IMPOSSIBLE... It drives me crazy. How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
