Vista service pack 2 won't install-error: "SERVICE PACK 2 has NOT BEEN INSTALLED.

I recently installed Windows Vista Home premium with service pack 1 on my computer. Automatic updates advised me to install Service Pack 2. It seems to install properly, but at the end, a box if poster with SERVICE PACK 2 has NOT BEEN INSTALLED. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR WINDOWS COMPUTER IS RE INSTALL YOUR FILES. I tried to install SP/2 3 times and I still get the same results.
