Vista slow boot / stalled since resettlement on Equium L40 - 17M

After working on the programme which had caused some performance issues *.
with my laptop Toshiba Equiuum L40 - 17 M - Kontiki, used with a tv on demand
program for Channel 4 in the United Kingdom - I reinstalled Windows. Unlike a
last chance to get rid of all traces of Norton,
startup slowed, in fact, it seems to pause and had done well
at the beginning of the new facility. How can I resolve this issue? I am
puzzled as to why this happens when I used the same method
and the recovery disc, provided by Toshiba.

I looked in Task Manager to see if I can see where it is at a standstill
but I can't say. I had to uninstall Norton new because it is responsible for
the disc of recovery, but the stall was going on independently of this.
Everything about the Windows Defender Software Explorer limited?

I thought that it could be the side bar but is not, and this has all
worked very well before anyway.

I had the terrible thought that the recovery disks working a finite
number of times in order to get people to pay ot for a copy of Windows.

* The 'problems' of performance were probably nothing serious or
noticeable, just me in response to an exclamation point in a yellow
triangle, but it niggled me and I thought he could do worse than others
the software has been added etc.

Thanks in advance for all entries. I'm reasonably computer literate but
If anything it might need explain it please err on the side of caution.
Thank you.

Hi Lee

You're talking about Vista performance issues... So I'm interested to know if you have noticed "this" slow down the performance of the first day or after a couple of times.

You must know that the Vista operating system is a monster! He eats the material resources and you should not comparable with the MS OS at first it XP for example...

I.e all Vista Aero features needs a huge amount of material resources.
In addition your laptop supports various features Toshiba as Vista FlashCards, keys Fn, command buttons, etc...

All the features of this must be controlled by software that runs in the context of the BONE.
Throughout this process, drivers affect the performance of the Vista operating system, and this can slow down the laptop.

Anyway... we shouldn't exclude a hardware Supa‰rieur? ¦ example HARD drive...
I had one laptop slow due to HARD drive failure. Bad HDD sectors were the reason why the laptop has slowed.

  • Equium L40 - 17 M - no charge battery on Windows 7

    Hi guys and girls. I'm at my wits end so any help would be great.

    I have a Toshiba Equium L40 - 17M. I installed Windows7 2 days and since then it has been giving me this message when I flew over the battery icon: pluged in but no charge please consider which battery
    It was fine when I was running the original Windows Vista Home Premium.

    Before I installed it, I did a check on the Microsoft Web site, and it said my computer would run fine on the 32-bit version and all programs would go now what happened?
    I was also on the Toshiba site to see if I need to get the software from them but in the Windows 7 upgrade part, there is no support for my laptop.

    Please could someone help me thanks.

    > I was also on the Toshiba site to see if I need to get the software from them but in the Windows 7 upgrade part, there is no support for my laptop.
    That's the point. You use unsupported operating systems. He will be supported in the future and until you accept that something don't work properly.
    I'm sure that battery is charging correctly, but there is a problem with the information you get in Win7.

    Leave it on the adapter for 3 hours and let me know if your battery is completely discharged or not if you unplug the power plug.

  • Equium L40 - Windows won't start, message on screen

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Equium L40 - 17M.
    Recently when update my antivirus, my computer tried to restart but now does not load correctly.
    Now whenever I try to turn on the computer, after the initial configuration screen Toshiba I'm greeted by the following message is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.

    Playing a disc error has occurred
    Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart.

    However, this message seems right once again!
    Suggestions please!

    It could be a problem of file system corruption, in which case you can connect the HARD drive to another PC and run CHKDSK on the drive.

    If no help, then check the bad sectors HARD disk using the Test advanced in Hitachi DFT (Google is your friend)

    Or you can try to run your recovery discs recovery. This reformatted HARD drive, so you will need your first of all if the data backup sound still there (you can use a USB 2.5 "HDD adapter).

    If you really need your data back, there are data recovery programs, you can download to search the HARD disk for lost files.

  • Equium L40 - Vista won't start after installation of product recovery

    Hello

    I had to realize a product uses recovery provided restore disk on an Equium L40 computer laptop (PLS41). The recovery procedure done his job to the end, reformats and copy all the files and then restarts. Now the problem starts...
    The pc gets in front of the BIOS boot screen, then it goes completely black with only a cursor to underscore flashing in the upper corner of the screen. No HARD or CD-rom drive activity.

    I did the cover about ten times now. All with the same result. I tried the repair procedure using a Vista boot CD and I also tried using another disk supplied with the computer, anytime upgrade from Vista. Here they are without defects, see the hard drive and shows that the vista files are on it, also sees the winRE partition.

    I tired even fresh install from the disc at any time. It also reformats the disk, copies and decompresses all files needed, begins to install the updates on the disk and then said: he needs to restart. It restarts and goes to black screen with flashing underscore cursor. What happens if I press the 'coup of any key to boot from CD' or leave it to boot from the HARD drive.

    I tried to fix this for two days now, including endless hours of forum to research, the computer belongs to my friend gets very angry I am. I need help. No one knows how to fix?

    Hello

    According to your message, I think that the HARD drive is faulty.
    I think there's a defective recording of MBR (MBR) of the drive and therefore the laptop refuses to boot.

    One question; have you tried to set the BIOS default settings? If this is not the case, try this.

    If it doesn t help and the laptop still does not start upward, then you should ask ASP for verification.
    I think it s a problem of HARD disk and, possibly, the HARD drive must be replaced!

  • Need USB drivers for old Equium L40 - 10U PSL41E running Vista 32-bit

    Hi all

    I think that my USB driver is corrupted. I found the ChipSet, LAN and BIOS drivers for my old PSL41E Equium L40 - 10U running Vista 32 bit. However, I have not found the USB drives I need. USB drivers are contained in the ChipSet, BIOS or LAN driver?

    If not, where can I find and download the USB drivers for my old old Equium L40 - 10U PSL41E running Vista 32 bit?

    Thank you! -Le Cannet

    Here is where I found the drivers (but with no mention of USB drivers):
    [Drivers Equium L40 - 10U PSL41E | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK&selCategory=8 & selFamily = 391 & selSeries = 326 & selProduct = 752 & selSho rtMod = 541 & language = 13 & selOS = 26 & selType = all & yearupl = DST & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = all Machines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 8 & pa ge 1 = & startPage = 1 & prevCl = true]

    > Are contained in the ChipSet, BIOS or LAN USB drivers driver?

    USB drivers are part of the Windows operating system.
    The USB ports should work after the installation of the Windows operating system and, therefore, there is no such thing as a USB driver for the USB 2.0 standard.

    In addition, the chipset driver must be installed.

    I checked the proposed link in your ad and here, you can download the Intel chipset utility.
    The update of the BIOS is also available

    The serial key you found at the bottom of the unit belongs to the preinstalled Windows operating system and will NOT work by using different Windows disks.

    You have two options;
    Either you buy the here Toshiba Recovery disk:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

    Or you buy the original disc of Microsoft Vista and will use the drivers provided by page European driver Toshiba

    Hello

    do you know which sound chipset is on your computer? I'm not really sure, but I guess you should have a realtek chipset in your machine.

    I suggest the following:

    Go to www.realtek.com, download the latest drivers from there (because they work on both platforms - mobile and desktop), install and check if it work s. A few comments would be a good thing if its worked.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
