Vista SP2 (64 - bit) problem

I installed SP2 on my wife's laptop computer tonight. It all installed and then rebooted. After the reboot, all I get is a black screen with the mouse arrow. The arrow moves, but nothing else happens. I restarted the computer, and it had sat for 30 + minutes without change.

I just tried to restart and boot mode safe. It is LOADED: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisc.sys and he said: "Please wait...". »
It's just sitting there.

Using Windows Vista SP2 (32 bit), cannot install IIS.  Tried several of the resolutions found on the web to turn (uninstall .net 3.0) to uninstall WAS.  Still nothing works.  Look at the event log, it appears that the TrustedInstaller.exe is in a loop that indicates that Windows Servicing began a process of change state KBxxxxx package installed to installed.  I have this day to the next release and we found thousands of entries repeated over and over as it in the event Log.

I would say the TrustedInstaller.exe has been hacked or corrupted, but daily MS patches are applied without error.   I also ran the SFC/scannow command without success.  I tried to restart, don't turn off unnecessary services, execution of installation in Mode safe... go!
I'm surprised there isn't a utility which will ensure the components that need to exist in the version required for IIS, well... does not exist!
Any ideas?  I need to get the IIS services are installed for the development of a website of ASP.NET ASAP!

I have only a limited understanding of IIS and ASP.net.

    1. What are they? IIS 5, 6, 7.0?
    2. make sure that your version of Vista can support.
Go to programs and features > column to the left, turn Windows has on or off > scrolling Internet Information Service > expand (+) sign and make sure if its level of compatibility under Web management tools. Home Premium can go as far as IIS6. > Make sure check marks are on the elements you need to install IIS.

    3. from what I understand, the version of Vista Ultimate and superior is required to install IIS 7.

This is as far as I know.

To install IIS 7, here is a tutorial:
    http://learn.IIS.NET/page.aspx/28/installing-IIS-7-on-Windows-Vista-and-Windows-7/

Your question needed IT expertise. I suggest that transfer you to one of these support ASP.NET forums.

Under 'View Update History', he shows again and again KB979683 installation successfully.

Under 'updates installed, he said, "no update is installed on this computer". So I can't download it manually on my desktop, uninstall the update, restart in safe mode and reinstall manually. Also, when I tried to install manually in safe mode without deleting the file, I received the error 0X8007043c.

I tried stopping the windows update service, and then delete all files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution > DataSstore and C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution > download, then by restarting the service, but it did not help.

I've updated and run Malwarbytes Anti-Malware 1.46 and AVG 9.0.829, but found no threat.

I use windows, as well as automatic daily scans with AVG firewall (manual scans with Malwarebytes: daily).

I don't know if it's important, but I'm under IE8, version 8.0.6001.18882, 256 bit zero versions updates. I have seen a recent update was available for IE8 (KB982381) but when you try to run manually, he said that the update does not apply to my system.

    Help, please!

There is a good chance that you see the effects of a (including a W32/Alureon rootkit) hijackware infection!

NB: If you had no installed anti-virus application or subscription has expired * when the machine was first infected * and/or your subscription has expired since and/or the machine is not kept fully corrected in Windows Update, don't waste your time with any of the following: Format & reinstall Windows.  A repair install won't help!

    1. see if you can download/run the MSRT tool manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not analysis FAST!  You may need to download the MSRT on an uninfected machine and then transfer the MRT. EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN. EXE before running it.

    3. now post the logs required in a forum appropriate for support by an expert in the field. DON'T SKIP THIS STEP!

I can recommend the assistance of experts available in these forums: http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?board=10.0, http://www.spywarewarrior.com/viewforum.php?f=5, http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cleanup, http://www.bluetack.co.uk/forums/index.phpand http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, good reputation and stand-alone computer (that is, not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) repair facility.

On a m950y of HP with AMD Phenom Quad Core processor 2.4 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, lots of available hard disk space, accepted the software license agreement. Can you tell me what's happening, if this should be fixed, and how it can be fixed?

    Mike-

UH! After posting the added information in my last post, I have acted on an intuition, uninstalled, Office Live 1.5 from the Control Panel, rebooted, reinstalled and everything went well.

So I guess there's a glitch somewhere where Windows Live Update thought I needed the upgrade while in fact I have not, and he is involved in a problem that cannot be resolved.

    Thank you for your help.

    Bill

  • Vista SP2 x 64 update fails on shutdown

I tried several times to install the vista sp2 (64-bit).  Everything seems ok until it tries to restart.  The display shows the closing down and it stops there.  I gave 6 hours before forcing a cold start.  When return chkdsk runs and fails.  Had to restore the previous state of a backup HD picture again.  HD goes diags, i.e. no discernible hardware problem.  I tried to allow first on the Windows Update page.  Second time around, I have download the package and ran it in safe mode with network (which is the only way that would be installing SP1 I remember well).  Same failure mode, no message err, just hang out on the closing screen.

The machine is a Dell M1330 computer laptop T8100 2.1 GHz dual core, 4 GB of ram + WD 320 GB drive

    Ideas get sp2?

    Thanks in advance.

  • "sfc/scannow" was not able to repair some files, one or more of which must be in the path of an installation of Vista SP2

I tried to install the SP2 of Vista for a few days now with no luck. Earlier today, I had a breakthrough and was finally able to install 'patch for Windows", which, after a reboot, enabled me to see the x 64 SP2 update in part"updates"of the control panel. When I tried to install that, he said he failed and gave me an error code. When I looked it up, it says try "sfc/scannow" in an elevated command prompt. The research a ton of lines of logs and errors, and after looking through, I could find these as (the least most) files problem-

    WinSAT.exe
    Amd64\HPF940AL. DLL
    PresentationBuildTasks.dll
    locale.NLS

My question is, are any of these files required for the installation of Vista SP2 to cross? Thanks in advance for any help offered, and more information is needed, I will gladly provide.

Extra balls (If I missed a few files problem, I'd appreciate a double check. WinSAT.exe was not who listed there, but it was listed above upward with no sign to be repaired)

  • Windows Vista SP2 fails to install and Windows Firewall will not stay

Hello, I have problems with Vista 64-bit, it will not install service pack 2 and Windows Firewall will not stay. I tried to manually enable ICF manually and it won't turn. It gave me error 6x9D. I ran several antivirus scans malware byte and pc cleaner pro 2012 and the issue has not been resolved. If I could get help would be much appreciated. Thank you

    Hello

What do you use for security?

If you are using an Internet Security Suite, it will have its own firewall and disables the default Windows Firewall.

And you should have only one firewall to avoid problems related to the operating system.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

    You have not installed SP1?

If so, try a direct download of SP2.

  • Vista SP2 not recognizing not not SD card with the external drive

I have a Dell PC running Vista SP2 32 bit, and I just bought a card reader IOGear (GFR204SD, USB key with slots for SD/MicroSD cards). With the help of one of my Android devices micro SDHC cards (both brand Sandisk 16GB, I have a Droid and a tablet of Sanyo), this USB drive will not be detected, but when I click on the icon that appears in my computer, it just says "Please insert disk into drive h:" even if the card is inserted. Cards read very well if I mount them by the smartphone, but not on this device. The IOGear online chat person was no help for me until my connection has been lost, and before I asked them once again, I thought I would see if it was a Vista problem.

Every search I did shoot a lot Info for XP or SP1, but not to SP2. And in Device Manager there is no yellow triangle exclamation the device seems to settle but the card itself does not seem to be save.

See this article if this can help:

How to fix the error "Please insert a disk into the drive" in Windows
    http://www.troublefixers.com/how-to-fix-please-insert-a-disk-into-drive-error-in-Windows/

  • Why don't my NOTHING full of Vista SP2?

    OK - Here's the dope:
An acquaintance brought me a Dell laptop which was... uh, seriously 'degraded.
(in fact she brought me TWO portable identical problems similar-more on that later)
    Details-(on two laptops)

    • Dell Inspiron 1525, with 3 GB of RAM and a 200Gig.
    • Vista SP2 (32 bit) with NO updates ever made!  (go figure)
    • Several Antivirus programs on every laptop.

    Laptop #1 don't forget - I think I've finally cleaned.
    But portable #2:
    Attached:

I came acrossanother wire while trying to repair Vista SP2 system users.
They had both McCrappy and Norton stuff on it - I managed to uninstall these, as well as... Laughing out loud...  Avast and ADAware and a bunch of other bloatware.

Then, I managed to run a reg-cleaner (CCleaner) and and an Antivirus (SimplySup Trojan Remover) - the system seems pretty clean now.

Strangely, Winupdate tells me that they have NEVER had installed updates!
    $% #& USERS!

The most common error I get now seems to be "Explorer is not reponding."

I renamed the file datastor.adb and now when I run the update, it's there forever.
However, the icon in the corner says "Windows can't check for updates.
Ye, s I have a wifi internet connection.
Win Defender has not been updated since December and after uninstalling AVAST, Norton and McCrappee, Icurrently I HAVE NO protection against viruses on the laptop. (Dell Inspiron with 3Gig mem)

Here I could install MS - SE, but IE chokes continuously.

All sorts of errors occur on this topic now comes to tell me the Dell Wi - Fi stopped working!

Oh oh-it just froze - now even Ctrl-Alt-Del will not work! Time for the salvation of 7 seconds apres-doigt.

    I'll get back to you.

    ============================

Ok...  I got the Dell Vista disc install, and it allowed me to "return" to the point of backup "2011-07-22"... uh...» It's today!
Tried a Windows Update - he started to blow away, and the icon in the task bar said "Windows can't check for updates.  But hey - this has not prevented Winupdate sitting there and pretend there was an ongoing update...  BAH!

I'd like to install MS Security Essentials, but even the IE freezes!
The cursor over the taskbar is now this cute little whirlwind 'waiting' cursor.  Bah.

Oh, wait!  After 3 or 4 MINUTES, yes MINUTES! my context menu finally popped up!

It seems that whenever you click on Configuration, the order goes through after a wait of 1 od 5 minutes!

Ahh we'll try again Winupdate!   The time now is 20:35
OK here it goes-"check updates...". ».    Maybe I'll run this time for an hour or two before again by pressing THE. switch DAMN ON / OFF for about 7 seconds! (Yes, Ctrl-Alt-Del is not recognized in this rotten system).

I'm starting to suspect that it is perhaps a clever way of MS telling me to go to Win - 7.
Well, sorry, unless the is free, I will suggest to the user that I can wipe the drive and install Ubuntu 1104.   She's probably better off with that.
    The saga continues.
See again you at 21:35 or more.
(now you have probably realized that I get this in a blog, right?)

    =============================
    2011.07.22, 21:15 -
Huh? The laptop has rebooted spontaneously!
Fortunately, I have the Dell Vista install disk in the CD drive!  Maybe time to do a HD Format...
I think that anyone who undergoes this painful experience with Vista should be able to get a FREE copy of Win - 7.
    (just saying...)

Addendum-before someone suggests it is a memory problem:
I swapped the 3Gig of RAM in the laptop #1 for the 3 concert in portable #2.
The problems on the same laptop #2
I'm kinda leaning towards a motherboard problem now...
I COULD swap hard disks, but Windows will probably ask me to re-enter the license keys...
    ========================

    DETECTIVE CONAN DOES NOT!

    The saga continues...

After that I gave up on the hard disk in this laptop and was resigned to buying a new one, I deleted and put it in a USB SATA enclosure.

Then, I plugged into my laptop Win 7 and ran MS Security Essentials over it.

    Guess what?
MSSE found a bunch of JAVA - CVE-2008-5353 files... etc. which he essentially advised me to "REMOVE IMMEDIATELY.

Once this is done, I ran the SimplySup Trojan remover, and HE finds a bunch of 'MYWEBSEARCH' spyware.

Then I took the drive on my desktop, running Win7 and AVAST.
Avast found a couple more Trojans!

Finally, I put the Vista disk in the laptop hit and the "physical disk" problems had disappeared as if by magic.
Laughing out loud! -with the exception of 330 meg for Windows-updates to day who asked to be installed.
This was done after that I installed MS - SE on the formerly "broken" drive

The system now works like new (if you can call new MS Vista).

Maybe NOW I can say 'Détective Conan'!

PS - I mentioned that there was a more or less identical Vista laptop which seemed to be 'OK '.
Nevertheless, I'll remove his drive and analyze it as an external USB using my systems MSSE Win - 7 and above, AVAST before trusting this new!
