I had to 'rollback' to a previous version of Vista Ultimate (32 bit) and had a technician Sprint "Reinstall" an older version of my wireless broadband to make it work again.  I am constantly on the download request to install SP2.  Microsoft has solved the problem for my without wire will not get corrupted again and I never knew why the Service Pack would not move.   My hardware is: Dell XPS M1530 Laptop, Vista ultimate 32-bit, 4 GB of ram. Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Also if I should try to re - install and that there no what is the phone number of Support technique Microsoft.

Hello, my parents computer came RAM volume0 has failed and not be able to start. We went and brought a new hard drive, and its always say the same thing. Any ideas?

A message on the RAID 0 volume failed is a recognizable error message, but the news is not good.

RAID, by its nature, requires 2 or more drives.  RAID = redundant Bay of independent (or inexpensive) disks

RAID 0 is the worst of the different RAID choices.  It increases the performance of hard disk by spreading or striping, data on two disks so that he can read and write more quickly. Unfortunately, such a picture offers no protection of data - in fact, it increases the chances of loss of data since the failure of a disk in the array results in the loss of all data on both drives. RAID 0 configurations are standard on high-end and PCs graphics games and provide a performance gain measurable, albeit modest for games, graphics applications and other programs intense from the hard drive.

In view of the foregoing, the best course of action for you and your parents is to take the computer to a local computer professional - not a type of place BigBoxStoreUSA or GeekSquad.

  • Vista wants to be restalled after SP2 has tried and has no automatic installation

I'm currently running Vista and I was getting the auto update SP2, when the installation failed and my machine came with a window indicating that it was returning about to restore. Then it didn't and now being asked to reinstall Vista. Is there a fix for this problem without reinstalling vista I'm afraid that I lose all my data?

    Hi birdman21,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Try to do a Startup Repair which seems to be the only option left if you do not want to reinstall Windows Vista, if you have a Windows Vista installation disc.

Startup Repair is a Windows Vista recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as system files missing or damaged, that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. When you run the Startup Repair, it scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.

Startup Repair is located in the System Recovery Options menu, which is located on the Windows Vista installation disc. If your computer manufacturer has preinstalled the recovery options, Startup Repair can also be installed on your hard drive.

If your computer does not have the Startup Repair, your computer manufacturer can have customized or replaced the tool. See the documentation provided with your computer or go to the manufacturer's Web site.

You can access the link below and follow the steps in the article to use startup repair

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/startup-repair-frequently-asked-questions

Once your computer is working, you can do a system restore to restore the system files of your computer to an earlier point in time.

Go to the link below to do a system restore.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-system-restore

    I also suggest:

Download and install Windows Update agent

The Windows Update Agent lets you manage the updates will be installed on your computer. The Windows Update Agent works with the Windows Update Web site to provide updates on your computer. The Windows Update Agent also works with servers that are running Microsoft System Management Server and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) in an enterprise environment.

  • Vista SP2 Installation fails (error 800706BE Code) via Windows Update

I am running Windows Vista Business (32-bit) SP1 and I noticed that Vista SP2 is available for download by manually checking in Windows Update last night.  After having seen that it is a large download (more), I started the download, left my PC and left the House.  When I got home, my screensaver was away and when I attamped my password to disable the screen saver and see where I was in the process of updating, my password did not work.  Then I did a hard reboot but then could not connect under my admin user account.  I've then logged in as my wife (standard user - no password) and went to Windows Update where I noticed that the SP2 for Vista Installation fails (error 800706BE Code).  I spent most of last night and all today so far tried to solve this problem.  There are several problems here... When I click on "Install" in Windows Update, I get a message of "is not necessary: 1 update" (even when I look in the installed updates it says that the update failed).  If it is not necessary, then why is it listed as an important update that must be installed?  Endless loop... In addition, I'm not a password reset for my connection because I have a password saved on a flash drive.  Then I tried using all the older passwords that I remembered and none worked.  Shift caps lock was not on either.  I've logged in as my wife, went to the Microsoft Download page and eventually find the link to download the standalone version of SP2 Vsita, but after downloading the massive file, I didn't have the right to install it because I can not connect as an adminstator!

(sigh) Can someone please help with this?  Thank you

    Naveen,

Thank you very much for your suggestions!  Your suggestion of restarting, press F8 and choose "repair your computer" worked.  I was able to do a system restore and I chose a date where my old password was still in use (I had just been invited to change a few days before I tried to download Vista SP2).  In addition to losing my cookies and automatically complete IE8 - everything is back to normal.  I have not yet tried a 2nd try to SP2, and I'm very hesitant to do it now!

    Thank you once again!

  • Vista SP1 installation failed and now my system is unable to start.

I tried to install the Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) and it stalled for hours with this line of text on the screen nflickering:

    !! 0xc01a001d! 28461/88529 (\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedData...)

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop computer with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I have tried everything you can imagine on these forums - including:

-Rename the configuration files of the prompt c.
-creation of a true recovery/repair disk (Toshiba only sent a system recovery disc, not a repair disk) and attempt to run the repair from here (nothing was fixed and instead restart, he went to a black screen)
-attempt to restore an earlier point but, as many others have remarked, the installation of SP1 apparently removes all set points, so it's been a bust
-a tried to run chkdsk f / but who gave me an error indicating that the volume has been used and did not work.

NOTHING works! I can't boot my system, and frankly I'm furious that Microsoft has failed to solve this problem for 3 YEARS according to assignments in these and other forums. I've always been a devout person PC - a bit too elitist for me to Apple. But I am absolutely disgusted that I potentially have to do a complete reinstall, including downloading all my software again for all my other programs.

I am the Coordinator of health care for the County, I live in, have 3 kids to take care of and frankly, did not have the time to deal with this kind of setback. I worked on ALL this DAY, ruining the Superbowl Sunday, something that the people at Microsoft obviously don't care no difficulty. That tells you how much they care about customer support, I guess.

If anyone has found a viable solution to this problem that CREATED Microsoft with an update that was supposed to IMPROVE their Vista defective product, please, please, help! I wish I had never entered in this horrible computer vacuum! Only, I tried to download this update because I received an email from Microsoft that offers a download of Windows 2010 beta to try, and everyone spoke of so many Windows 2007 (unlike Vista) I thought I would give it a try - only to find out that I had to have SP1 to install 2010. I feel I'm in a Kafka story.

    Thank you.

  • Vista - Windows Update fails and defender gives the error code: 0 x 80080005

Well, I downloaded Veoh Web Player and DivX player (with a driver package) almost the exact same time, so I don't know who caused the problem. (Guessing Veoh done.) I restored system which usually solves it for me and then uninstalled both programs and even if my computer is not nearly as slow as it was when they were both installed, it's always problems. Windows open frequently stops responding. As I said, the system restore only makes it better for a short time while longer I go without eating, the freezier my computer becomes. I also noticed that for about 2-3 days (after which my computer almost completely freezes and I have to startup repair) most minor cosmetic changes.

I use Firefox, so the first change I noticed was that left side of the address bar in a small half circle in a regular square. Tiny. Then the scroll bars on all the programs I've used lost their Aero look and returned to normal, old style Windows. Eventually good menus click lose their new look, then all the start menu, and finally Windows Explorer stops working and all the windows, when not in use, become small tabs at the bottom of the screen. After that the computer hangs almost entirely.

Each time I restart or system restore the first thing I see is a little box that says that a Windows host process has stopped working. Windows Update continually fails and Windows Defender gives the error code 0 x 80080005. What can I do? I looked for answers before coming here to help and what I read it looks like a downloaded driver can interfere with the host process, even if I uninstalled it (supposedly) all. Thank you.

    Hello Sam980,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Forum!

You can try to access the command prompt in the Windows Recovery console and see if can remove Service Pack 2 manually from your computer. Here are the steps to remove Service Pack 2:

Open an elevated command prompt window.

    C:\temp\Windows6.0-kb936330-x86.exe x:C:\temp

Note This command assumes that the file Windows6. 0 - KB936330.exe folder is in the C:\Temp folder

For Windows Vista Service Pack 2:

    C:\temp\Windows6.0-KB948465-nnn.exe x:C:\temp

We must create a sandbox environment before you can proceed to step 4. This allows you to manage safely an untrusted program. To create a sandbox, sandbox type md.

To remove the Windows Vista service pack, type or copy and paste the following command, depending on the version of the Windows Vista service that you want to uninstall:

For Windows Vista Service Pack 1

Once Pkgmgr.exe completed, you are prompted to restart the computer to complete the uninstall.

If these steps successfully uninstall the service pack of Windows Vista, and this resolves the issue, you are finished. If these steps do not uninstall the service pack of Windows Vista, or if these steps uninstall the service pack but do not resolve your issue, you need to restore the system to a previous state.

To do this, go to method 3.

  • What does a message stating that AMD driver has failed and recovered display mean successfully?

    Mr President.

When I changed the wallpaper of my HP G6 2231tx notebook, a message indicating that "AMD display driver failed and recovered" appeared recently and my display freezes for a few seconds. Is this some kind of hardware problem. And mine is a new machine. Will this problem persists. Is there a cure for this kind of questions.

Unfortunately, this is a normal phenomenon on virtually all Windows desktop computers and laptops with modules and Radeon HD graphics cards. This means that the driver has crashed, but the operating system he recovered and it works again.

Yes, it will never happen. I recommend you keep an eye on the pilot of the AMD graphics driver download section in the web portal for your laptop support for updates.

You can also just run the application development in demand for support from HP a month. The HPSAwill advise you if there are updates available and help you install them.
