No, certainly not. Maybe you'll be able to install Vista, but the Toshiba Vista drivers and tools for Qosmio E10 certainly did not exist!
In addition, it is only for a series of Satellite A100

  • Vista upgrade order doesn't look right

    Hello!

The instructions in the PDF file on the site of Toshiba Vista Upgrade (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=UK&ID=2006-10-Vista-Express-Upgrade-UK) do not seem to be correct. I bought a Portege M400 on November 2, so after the beginning of the upgrade program. I also have a Vista capable logo on the laptop and the model number is listed in the eligibility list Vista and therefore suitable for an upgrade.

But the problem starts when I go on the site, which is listed in the upgrade instruction (it just said go to http://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/Vista/ and follow the instructions).

    OK, so let's go:
    (A) I'm going to http://upgradeweb.moduslink.com/Vista/
    (B) to make sure that everything is set up for English and the United Kingdom.
    (C) It asks me if I have a form of redemption Upgrade - which I did not - so I chose the 'no' (as far as I know, these forms are primarily for commercial versions eligible for an upgrade).
    (D) I click on Vista
    (E) an information page arrive, I click Next
    (F) now it asks me to choose the dealer - what is weird because there are only a few manufacturers of Lenovo (Toshiba is not). So I click the button 'my computer dealer is not listed.
    (G) a message appears: "If your computer dealer is not listed, your OEM can have a direct offer for products upgrade of Windows Vista. Contact your OEM directly for more details. »

That's all. What should I do now? OEM is Toshiba, Toshiba is not listed as the dealer (and in fact, he asks the dealer not the manufacturer) and according to the instructions on the Toshiba Vista Upgrade page, I just have to follow the instructions on moduslink.com - which ends with the result that I must ask my OEM (Toshiba) for an upgrade. So it's kind of a circle - Toshiba sends me to moduslink and moduslink back to Toshiba.

And by the way, Toshiba lists only in the instructions to upgrade the need to have a reception which is located in the upgrade period, the document does not ask for something else - and I doubt I'm missing something.

So what I do and how can I order my upgrade to Vista?

    Thank you!

    Alex

    Hi guys

Have you checked if your laptops are available for an upgrade?
According to the Toshiba page not all laptops are ready for the release of Vista.
I visited the page recommended by lumix2day and found the link in the box:
Find out what Toshiba laptops are eligible for the Express Upgrade to

    Equium A100-147: upgrade from Vista

    Hello

I recently received an email from Toshiba regarding the purchase of the upgrade to Vista. Followed the link and instructions, selected the "Toshiba Corp." option, when asked for the "serialized form", I chose "no"... don't know what it is.

I go further and that there will be charges to redemption for the upgrade to Vista.

    Vista upgrade charge - £13.35
    Shipping and handling - £2.71
    Plus the VAT on top...

As far as I know and also mentioned on the page Web of Toshiba, the upgrade is free and only need to pay the shipping and handling fees.

Someone has already tried this and get the same fees... or without?

Happy New Year, by the way.

    See you soon

I agree with the snipe. If there is no problem with the update to Vista, you must call the Toshiba call centre.

PS: I tried the moduslink and everything was ok.

  • Qosmio F30-127 is unable to read the Vista upgrade disc

    Hi guys,.

    I have a Toshiba Qosmio F30 (127) with the standard front load Mat * a DVD-RAM (model UJ-846) Player.

I have for months without any apparent problem burn a variety of CD DVD & (R/RW) and recently received my expected Vista Express Upgrade DVD which I assume adopts the format DVD RAM.

After the upgrade of the BIOS to v3.4, I successfully installed upgrading startup, but only one of the hard drives (RAID) which has been recognized in my windows session (with the recoil, I would simply have used administrative tools > computer management > disk management) ;-(

I reinstalled XP using the recovery disks provided original in preparation to retry the Vista upgrade a 2nd time to correct the alleged no recorded 2nd hard drive.

However, on the startup of XP, the Vista Upgrade DVD doesn't have to be recognized at startup (i) or (ii) in the case of a Windows session, without a visible change in the drive icon to indicate the usual recognition.

If I try to double click on the drive icon, I get the error message:

"D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.

I have read a number of threads of support which advises: (i) changing some registry keys, which seem to be unnecessary following a procedure of recovering costs of system; (ii) the transfer mode to DMA to PIO on the primary IDE channel in Manager devices, and (iii) the offending disk and IDE/ATAPI controllers Device Manager uninstall followed by a restart of switching. I tried (ii) & (iii) independently several times resulting in Windows Installer automatically the drivers for the hardware newly found followed by a final reboot, but the Enigma DVD persists.

I tried to install the latest drivers for the DVD RAM driver, including vF103 firmware update in the Toshiba download pages, but the status quo remains.

Ideas or current symptoms are swinging more and more towards the likely hardware malfunction?

    Thanks for listening...

For me, it looks like a hardware problem, maybe the lens of the player is not clean or not can not calibrate correctly in the right position

But try first to remove the drive from Device Manager and restart the laptop.
The operating system should recognize what it again automatically. If you want to read from this CD, and then try again.

If she will not change the situation, then I presume that it s a failure of the equipment.

  • Windows Vista Upgrade shut down my computer at 03:00 and 7 hours disappeared

After working on an Excel 2003 worksheet for seven hours on my computer (Windows Vista) most recent. A box suddenely appears asking if I wanted to save the spreadsheet I was working on that. Just as I clicked on save the computer automatically stop apparently down to install the updates, it had downloaded earlier (every day at 03:00 I see). My spreadsheet now appears as it did seven hours before. Is there a way to recover my work? Left on file temp perhaps, hidden away somewhere.

I can't believe this kind of programmed computer crash is the parameter defaoult for Windows Vista upgrades, but it seems that to be this way.

For future use, in addition to change the settings for upgrade by default to ask before downloading anything, as I do, is it possible (as it was years ago) to set up a recording every few minutes in Office 2003 automatic? If so, how should I do that.

    Hi ttam24,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

If you wish, you can set your updates to install only if you are recommending.

    Here are the steps;

    1. Open Windows Update (click on the Start button, click all programsand then click Windows Update).

    2. Select change settings and choose how you want Windows to install updates.

For Microsoft Office you can post your question on the forum of Microsoft Office.

  • Vista upgrade license - lost a tale of woe

I have such a history of sobbing, but all this is TRUE...

In January 2008, I bought an upgrade Windows Vista Edition full for my Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) PC. I did it through Windows Marketplace and the so-called "Digital Locker". I had already run Vista upgrade Adviser and found that my computer was quite ready for the new OS. I downloaded the whole package on my HDD immediately that night. In addition, I bought an extension so that the software would be 'safe' to download even more time.

I soon realized, however, that he was going to take a lot of work to perform the upgrade, including among other things, the old backup data, backup email and custom directories forms hidden from Outlook, etc. So I turned off for awhile...

Then my wife and I made the decision that I needed to leave the family, move out of the country for several months and try to take off a business project. This meant that I had a LOT to do before I leave and made me to further delay my upgrade. You get the picture...

All this leads to what is obvious - never, I installed upgrading, even if I paid a lot of money for this. And the installation files sitting on my computer (not used) at home for the duration, about 13 months.

Then, Microsoft had some kind of unusual idea. They decided to close Windows Marketplace and build a new store from Microsoft. But where it's really me and my purchase?

They said they sent a few emails warning that would close the Digital Locker service, but due to my absence, the birth of a little boy and other circumstances, I was NOT checking the old e-mail address they had on file for me. At the time when I wanted (and time) to install the OS for now, I discovered that the site had been completely closed. I've taken around to see what I could do about it, but still had so many things I did not as the highest priority, feeling frustrated and overwhelmed by the work it would take to try to get new (time IS money).

Now, I have a new network of SBS 2008, and I find that my XP MCE machine I brought from home (and acted for the last months as the peer-to-peer server) cannot join the domain. In fact, I discovered that it CAN, it just made during installation, OR you can use a so-called Hero Hack to get the registry suggests that it is possible.

But I really don't want to join the SBS my old MCE machine; I want expensive want what I paid for my Vista Ultimate (who wouldn't?)!

I've now spent hours and hours (8 and counting) Microsoft - on the phone, by e-mail. different departments - and have developed exactly zero. A manager at the Microsoft Store said hotline, after researching the issue, they have determined that there is no record kept of the old Windows Marketplace 'experience' and therefore no way to look to the top of my purchase. Myself, I can hardly believe that some recipes and information they generated through this site Web was everything simply "lost" or discarded.

Here's what I would like to everyone on this forum interested in helping some poor soul:

    1. I'll post my e-mail address below. Please no spamming, but if you have a product key Vista Ultimate old that you no longer use and would like to donate, feel free to send it to me. I would be sincerely grateful humbly.
    2. If any of you have contact with Microsoft Corporation, please do not hesitate to tell them about my fate and run to the top of the stem. I am confident that someone was able to know what happened to me, they might like to see a happy customer and help me resolve this issue. Note that I am a MCSE (but only on NT4) and spent my life buy legal copiesunder license from everything I have ever installed (including all products of Microsoft, of course). I used to work for WordPerfect Corp., hold myself, my family and my business at a high level. Of course, that contain versions of test, but still...

I am so disappointed with Windows Marketplace and Digital Locker service. I have paid for the extension of additional downloads. And the thing is, their approach was to never send anything with the details of the purchase, including the product key!

The following is an exact quote from the email they sent me (I still have the original I found in my Outlook files):

"You have successfully created an account for the service digital locker at Windows Marketplace." Now you can use the digital locker to download and install the software, recover the licenses,... .and look after your purchase information. »

"The assistant service digital locker keeps all the license information on your PC to facilitate access. You have more to search your computer or e-mail messages to retrieve this information in one convenient place. [translation] Digital locker service also records billing information for quick and easy extraction on your next purchase. »

I received this email on 14 January 2008, at 23:13. A minute later at 23:14, I received the following email:

"Thank you for using the service digital locker at Windows Marketplace."

"This email confirms that you have purchased successfully:

    "Microsoft® Windows Vista Ultimate UPGRADE".
    Quantity: 1
    Dealer: Microsoft

"You can now access your license or licenses that have been delivered to your service digital locker."

And that's all. No price is mentioned; No product key leaked; It was all through the Digital Locker service.

So there you have it. If you want or can help me, I would be ever so much obliged. Hereby, I PROMISE you that I won't ever crazy enough to wait two years before trying to install something that I bought online, even if it was a task as big as the installation of an operating system! I will gladly accept any form of punishment imposed, with the only exception being to lose the Vista Ultimate license and the hard-earned served to pay for this product (we are a bit poor, butstill I never pirate software). Don't forget, the installation files have been sitting on my hard drive since that night of January.

    Sincerely,

    Noel Stanford Oveson

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ken

To be clear: Vista upgrade shouldn't be problematic. You must obtain Microsoft Vista DVD facilities and make the clean OS install. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

To be honest I have to say that Alan is right about the upgrade and I agree with everything he writes. In the end I have to say: the decision is yours only.

If you need more assistance please post again.

    Hello

    It's very strange
How have you tried to install the operating system recovery disc?

Boot you from the CD and have you followed the instructions on the screen?
    Or what is exactly happening?

Usually, the recovery disk must format the whole HARD drive and the laptop to the factory settings.
In addition, the Vista is already activated and it s not necessary to put keys series.

I see in the error message something about safety licenses. I m not very well what this may be, but perhaps could be a problem with activation, who knows?  :|
But as I said above, the Vista on the recovery disk is already enabled.
