Install Windows 7 to try to resolve a problem of Vista is never a good idea. You must fix the problem Vista and then upgrade; or download a full version of Windows 7 and install it.  Try to upgrade a non-working Vista system will likely cause bad results.

Since last week, when I first start the computer, change user or log out or reboot, Vista does not start after the log in password stage (after accepting the password). I usually have to restart the computer twice so he could finally enter the Office of habit and I can work as usual.

I tried to let the computer some time at this point to work through and start normally, but it does not work and I have to restart.

I recently updated my anti-virus (BitDefender) for the 2010 edition.

I don't know if is the recent update to Vista which is originally or not.

Uninstall Bit Defender and see if that fixes things. Antivirus programs use low-level drivers which can sometimes cause problems. If the uninstallation of Bit Defender work, use a different antivirus. I recommend ESET NOD32 (commercial) or Avast free. If Bit Defender Uninstalling does not help, then you may experience hardware problems. Failing power supply or hard drive that often produces symptoms such as you describe. If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

I was able to fix the problem by reinstalling windows using the Installation DVD of Vista. He did a "fresh" Reinstall. To do this you first have to set the BIOS to boot from the CD drive instead of the hard drive.

Instructions to do so can be found here: http://techpaul.wordpress.com/2007/08/03/how-to-boot-from-a-cd/

Insert your Vista DVD and choose repair or install. My Vista files have been basically corrupt but not your strength. If they are not to select Repair will give you the opportunity to do a system restore.

Don't forget to reinstall Vista to wipe your hard drive and you will lose your files. System Restore will not. But if you supported rose them to an external drive or online so no problem!

  • Vista will not load and continually reboots, recovery disk does not start.

I have a Dell with vista on it. Recently, it has automatically installed an update and now it does not load Windows at all. It goes to the screen where I have the opportunity to "start in safe mode" "safe mode with command promt", "last known good configuration" etc. and none of these work options (all start loading them upwards and then the computer restarts just itself).

I tried to put in the cd of installation for vista, but it won't start. I changed the options in the BIOS so that it starts from the CD first, but then it just goes to another blue screen that says: there was some sort of system faliure, and the only option is to restart the computer.

I also tried to connect an external dvd player to see if he was not playing the disc because of a defect in material, but the same thing happens.

I also tried out the RAM and it put it back again (a single website suggested I try this).

Nothing seems to work! And now, I am out of options and have no idea what to try next - help!

I tried to start, but nothing happened. In the end I had to pull the battery to make it stop. I started again and the fan kicks on, and the monitor of the black stop at the lit on black as he was about to start, but nothing came on the monitor no splash screen not vista with the loading bar, nothing comes to any delay, not a pixel, not even a beep. I thought that the monitor was bad, so I tested the monitor by plugging it to my PC monitor of office still nothing on this screen, so I'm sure that computers portable monitor is good as all LEDs are lit and all. Food is good, I tested the battery on my friends computer of the same brand, it is fully charged. I can even things power out of usb. The only thing besides it not starting not not the least, is that the cd drive does not open. I brought out a cd holder thing and put my boot in her drive in the hope that something would come on the screen, but still absolutely nothing in black only.
