VIXIA HF R100

Hello

I have a Canon Vixia HF R100, and when I use to plug into my laptop and put it on my computer auto would detect and ask "what do you do? I would choose Import videos or images, but this isn't the problem. Now what I have to do is go to my computer right click on removable disk g---> :---> click Open as portable device---> can import videos or images. I don't mind doing this, a bit tedious but very well, either. The problem! When I import these videos it pops up a new window when it's done and all the video clips are there for me to view or copy on to a different folder. Well the other day, I was in the middle of downloading the videos and I had to walk away for a while. When I came back my laptop screen was black and moving the mouse has nothing. I therefore had no choice but to restart it. I had assumed that all videos had downloaded but now I can't find them anywhere on my computer, and when I plug the camera to the top and do the steps mentioned above he only said "no new videos or images found where". But the videos are still there, I can view them on the camera itself when I press the icon for video camera / play button. so, how can I get off these videos? Or where you think they have stored if they did get ripped out? And why doesn't the camera do this? I need these video clips! Help, please!

I use:

Lenovo Thinkpad laptop

Win 7 Pro

Thank you!

Hi JeremyBurge,

Thank you very much for writing.  We are sorry to hear that from your VIXIA HF R100 clips do not appear on your computer.  What you want to do is remove the memory card from the camera and copy / paste directly on the map.  Most laptops and desktop computers have a built in card reader.  If yours does not, then basic plug-and-play card reader allows to directly transfer the files from the memory card.  This will allow you to easily find files that do not appear to transfer.

Do I need an antenna with separate or is the sufficient mic input battery to provide power for the microphone?

    Hi ComposerEd,

You can connect an external microphone to your VIXIA HF R100.

Microphones must meet the following specifications: 3.5 mm stereo minijack-57 dBV (with microphone 600 ohms) / 5 kilohms or more.  Because this camcorder cannot provide "phantom power" for the microphone, a microphone 'active' (requiring an external power supply) must provide its own.

  • My video is green?

    Hello

I had already posted this problem but did not come with a solution, so I thought I would post again with more details and see if someone has a suggestion. I'm on first Elements 9 and am having a problem with my AVCHD video regarding a pure green screen in my project. I can still hear the audio, but the video comes and goes. Sometimes videos will be green during a transition period and then return to normal and others are green through and through. I downloaded the updates of the first elements, windows and quicktime updates too.

I'm running on a Toshiba L650 laptop. It's an I5, 2.67 ghz, 2 cores, 4 GB of ram, running windows 7 64 bit, hard drive 640 GB, Intel HD graphics card. Premiere Elements gives me a warning telling me every now and then update my graphics driver for my computer currently uses a generic, but I've been on the Web site of the Toshiba and Intel... To get the driver of Toshiba and Toshiba, said Intel says that I have the most updated driver available.

So far, my project is about 75% of still images that I've scaled down in size according to the recommendations on the forum and 25% AVCHD video shot with my Canon Vixia HF R100 and all my images was shot in 1440 x 1080

I tried 2 different project settings and have had various problems with both. First, I set up at 720 x 480 and had problems with the video going green. I then tried setting up in 1920 x 1080 and had problems with the program crash.

    1. how my project snaps into place if my video was filmed in 1440 x 1080?

    2. If I have to start a new project is an easy way to get all the work I've done in them?

3 back on my laptop that is powerful enough to run this program?

    4. I read in the forums that AVCHD can be difficult to treat... can I convert and then put it in my project to save some headaches?

    I'd appreciate any help available.

    Melissa

It is up to you - but I think that if you do what I recommend, you will find things will get a heck of a lot smoother and faster.

First of all, take your video clips in your project AVCHD AVCHD, place it on the timeline and use share/computer/AVI with DV preset for output as DV - AVI.

Then open a new project, and for its parameters, select DV widescreen. Import (using Get Media / files and folders) the DV - AVI, you created in it.

Now use Photoshop Elements to batch resize all your photos to 1000 x 750 pixels. Import also in your project.

You are now working in standard definition DV, so you will find that your computer will work a heck of a lot faster and smoother. Now you can combine your video and photos, add titles, music or anything else. Render (press enter) every time you see red lines above the clips on your timeline and things should go smoothly.

Then use the Share/To disc in your DVD release.

You can do all this in hi-def, but it'll put about four times the load on your system and take four times as long to your DVD release. And, in the end, it may not not even produce as clean a DVD you would get my method.

But, since you are building a DVD when even (what is video in standard definition), you may as well use the most efficient workflow for do.

  • Portege R100 - defective headphone jack

Headphone 3.5 mm on my R100 hole seems to be defective (I tried it with another helmet and with them the sound is distorted unless I managed to get the plug in the right position).

I will provide Toshiba on this subject shortly, but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this component replacement is a simple procedure?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Dan,.

The headphone jack is a pretty basic device that can usually be bought quite cheaply from most electrical spare outlets. The real problem is to find a repairman that will repair to the component level. Nowadays, the trend is to replace a whole PCB rather than simply weld on a new component.

According your description of the problem as it sounds as if we spring metal tags is either loose or bent and therefore does not sufficiently wityh contact the helmet when it is inserted.

If your laptop is still under warranty, then it should be replaced at no charge.

If your warranty has expired, it may be useful to check for repairers of local PC that quote ' component-level) repair services.

  • PORTEGE R100 CD-ROM recovery problem

Hi, I had a few problems of recovery PORTEGE R100. My problem is that when I try to reinstall the system with the recovery of the boot disk CD, it does not recognize the CD. The CD-ROM is not a TOSHIBA product. Is there any solution for this?

    Hello

It will be interesting to know if your external CD is a USB or PCMCIA device.

You must make a Windows startup disk and add drivers for your CD-ROM BACK drive and then you should be able to recover the machine with this CD.

  • R100 low level format utility

Hi all, I think that I had a problem with my HDD R100. I can't high-level format by some reasons, I guess that bad sectors. So, I'll try to find a solution and I guess the low-level format could be a solution for this. But, I couldn't find a utility to low-level format. Yes, is there a utility I can do low-level format R100 hard?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Brian

As far as I know this "low level format" depends on player factory and BIOS. I don't know if you can do it on your device but check what producer did this HARD drive. Google everywhere on the HDD producer support page. You may be lucky and you can find some information or some FAQ about this.

  • R100 mini PCI slot

Is it possible for me to access the connector MINI PCI on my Portege R100? If so, how is it accessible? I want to upgrade the wireless network card.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I put t know exactly where is the MINI PCI slot. In my opinion, he may be somewhere under the keyboard. I don't really know if it's a good idea that makes you one. This is a very nice and in my opinion very sensitive unit.

In my opinion, this should be done by professionals. By the way your device supports wireless LAN / Wi - Fi Standard: 802. 11B and Wireless LAN / Wi - Fi Standard: 802. 11 b / g.

  • R100 Boot from PC CARD?

    Hello

I own a SanDisk SDP3B 1.2 GB (industrial grade) ATA PC CARD that I am trying to make it bootable in order to run another operating system on. I also plan to put a recovery image on it with the help of Acronis image, for I can just boot from the plug to restore my computer.

This does not work well and I did not get it works. I was wondering if someone else tried to start with a pc card with of their R100?

    Thank you

    Hello

In my opinion there is not enough capacity for all of the image on this map. I have no experience but try to check all the BIOS settings. Check if there is an option called Boot from other devices.

  • Error checksum R100

I have 3 Toshiba Portege R100s running Windows XP SP1/SP2. They all suffer from a checksum on boot up error which of course disappears once you press F1 and end in the BIOS. Utility Tester memory from Toshiba has been run on each of them and all 3 of the laptop fell into the range of laptops that need repair under the Exchange program memory from Toshiba.

While being repaired by Toshiba, 2 laptops had their replace RTC battery (either the battery has been replaced by an authorized Toshiba repair shop). Within 2 days after their return, all laptops still raised an error at startup control. Each laptop is running the latest BIOS, the same software, and I went through the list posted checksum errors troubleshooting of Toshiba.

Anyone out there suffering from that? I have a laptop on the way just in case.

    Hello

I found a FAQ on checksum errors to the Toshiba Knowledgebase! Maybe it helps you a bit!

  • Problem of Eve Portege R100

    Dear friends,
I have a problem with my newly purchased Portege R100. When I try to switch (or in hibernation mode, in fact), it starts the process and then stops and displays an error message saying that it is in conflict with the keyboard player and I might need to update this.
Of course when I try to update, it shows not any update for the keyboard drivers.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem and how you solved it.

    Thank you
    Riccardo

    Hi Riccardo

As far as I know, this problem may occur if you use the external keyboard because for now what laptop enters standby or hibernation to stop all active processes. Now there may be some conflicts because many programs or processes can make the problems by putting off circuit.

    The external keyboard?
