VM - FEX on UCSM managed C series

All,

Can someone tell me if this is supported and if yes where VM - FEX the drivers can be downloaded from. All the documentation seems to suggest it is possible, but when I download the ISO C series drivers, no VM - FEX directory is found. Download the ISO B series pilots and a VM - FEX directory is present. Documentation of VM - FEX configuration I use States (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/vm_fex/vmw...) to the C series, I download the ISO driver for the C series, managed by UCSM, although when open ISO, no directory of VM - FEX. On checking that the matrix of interoperability for UCSM managed servers, only the B series servers are listed for VM - FEX.

I try to run it with vSphere 6.0U2 on a C460M4 connected to a fabric of interconnection 3.1(1h) running.

Thank you

Greetings.

I do not believe that the vm - fex associated drivers were included with the separate pilots of series ISO C lately.

You should be able to use the vm - fex for cards 'VIC' drivers in the driver blade bundle.

The interoperability matrix shows supported for the server in a rack, if you choose under managed by ucsm.

See below:

Thank you

  • Configuration of VLAN (management) SG200 series

    Hello.

Can someone help me configure (a normally very easy thing..) on a Cisco SG200-08 switch?

Please see attachment (sg200 - 1.jpg) for detailed information. ... Sorry in advance for my bad writing :)

    My problem is:

I want to manage the switch via the trunkport (port1) on the SG200 via the MGMT on VLAN30 pc and have everything (7ports) free other VIRTUAL networks.

Please see the attached screenshots for my current config.
This config works (I can ping the pc mgmt sg200), but I can't change the VLAN for port2. (it is said that I lose the management functionality)

    Any ideas?

    Hi Frank,.

Indeed, you'd have this error message and no matter if this VLAN 30 is the default of the switch or just the IPv4 interface is on this VLAN, there should always be a port (outside trunk) to keep the vlan 30 untagged and PVID.

I guess you want to use all ports up but unfortunately it's like switch was design.

Please, help me to install VM - FEX.

BTW. I have FI6120 to test VM - FEX. Is this a problem?

    Best regards

You can continue to use the guide to GUI, simply do things in Chapter 6 on the virtual switches distributed in cisco ucs configuration.  It separates just the task into 3 elements.  1. create the Datacenter, folder and DVS.  2. create a Port profile.  3. create a customer profile.

  • where to download the software VM - FEX on UCS manager 2.1(1a)?

I'm looking for the file .vib to install it on the ESXi host.

Manager of UCS 2.0, it allows to have a link on the home page to download the file.

Any idea where I can find it?

    Thanks in advance.

  • layout error place vm - fex on UCS c-series and UCSM

I seem to keep getting an error about the policy of the SRIOV bios settings, or "cannot be derived from the mac address of the virtual port" when I followed guides to configure the VM - FEX for ucsm and vmware 5.1.

Y at - it fully equipped guides that go through more than just each "side" of the configuration (ucsm or vmware)?

I want to know, from the beginning, what ucsm method should I use if I want ucsm manage the vlan / dvs in vmware so that I'm not "must continue to create VLAN in ucsm, adding them to the service and then profiles in vmware by creating networks of vm for VLANs and finally assign a virtual machine to use this new vlan."

and then, assuming it's vm - fex, how to get actually configured in ucsm and how to properly configure the service for this purpose profiles.

When you integrate vmware and ucsm, should existing virtual machines appear in ucsm, or that once they are set to use the dvs?  All I see is port dvs and thos profiles.

All documentation I found simply shows a 'part' of this entire Setup, and I was not able to find a solution guide to describe how to configure the service profiles in ucsm to take advantage of vm - fex that work for me... I get the above mentioned errors when I try to associate the service with my ucs210 gear profile.

    Thoughts?

    Solved.

Jason used VM-Pass through the adapter policy and did her properly configured static vNIC.

  • Limitation of UCSM integrated server C-Series

I crossed some line of integrated UCSM Server C-Series

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/unified_computing/UCS/c/SW/RAID/configuration/guide/Cisco_UCSM.html#wp1068282

Maximum Volume a RAID and a single RAID Controller in the built-in Rack-mounted servers

A rack mount server that has been integrated with Cisco UCS Manager can have a maximum of a RAID volume, regardless of how many disks are present on the server.

All local hard disks in an integrated rack server must be connected to a single RAID controller. Integration with Cisco UCS Manager does not support the connection of local hard drives rack-mounted several RAID controllers on a single server. We therefore recommend that you ask a single configuration of RAID controller when you order rack mounted servers to be integrated with Cisco UCS Manager.

In addition, do not use third-party tools to create a multiple RAID LUN on rack mounted servers. Cisco UCS Manager does not support this configuration.

    Wdey,

The following comment in the documentation is inherited an error early in UCSM when local disk policy was not well understood.

"In addition, do not use third-party tools to create a multiple RAID LUN on rack mounted servers. Cisco UCS Manager does not support this configuration"

It was added so users would not use WebBIOS and then set a policy on the server that would crush like manual mentions.   We that will remove the documentation.

The method supported by Cisco for the creation of multiple RAID volumes on a built-in server of series C are like manual Describes.  Use WebBIOS to create disk volumes and create a strategy of local drive of the 'any configuration.  It is also recommended that all strategies drive on your system is configured with protect the configuration to prevent overwriting an existing configuration, unless the political action you want to perform.

  • Plug-and-Play for Cisco Small Business 300 Series managed switch

    Nice day

What are the automatic installation options available for the Managed Switch series of Cisco Small Business 300?

It seems there are not, the operating system is not the standard IOS I used to.

I would use with ability to bridge the Infrastructure first Cisco PnP.

    Concerning

    Stone

First Infrastructure use and assume an agent CNS (Cisco Network Services) on the other side, when you enable the 'plug & play '. Series 300/500 do not run IOS and does not include the CNS agent, but there is a way to activate the automatic configuration. Switches supported by the automatic DHCP configuration (using DHCP options 66, 67, etc.) in which case they automatically download their config to a TFTP server at boot time. This allows an administrator to put the configs for all switches on a TFTP server and simply start a default switch factory in order to obtain config.

Seal a document shows how this is done.

Hope that the information would be useful.

If they are autonomous and not UCSM managed, you can configure IPMI and use fence_ipmilan.

  • Question about the new facility ESXi 5

    Hi all

Recently, I installed VMware vSphere with operations management on our server. I also registered this product and I get an email notification for 60 day trial.

AFAIK the ESXi is a free version, what arrived on my virtual machine after the 60 day trial period?

Do I have to install another version of ESXi?

    Thank you in advance,

    Kostas

This is because your vCenter Operations Manager Suite series is not intended to an esxi host.

The key you have done was proved for another product, the Operations Manager vCenter, who must be deployed as a virtual appliance on the esxi host.

For the esxi host, you will need to register on the site I linked. You will then get a serial number for license free esxi, which is not an evaluation, so it will not be displayed under 'my assessments.

  • UCSM integration with the series C - non-nexus 2 k for the management?

Is it possible to integrate the grid of series C rises (particularly C250 M2) with UCSM without using the 2248 management in accordance with this article for the C200 http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C200M1/install/ucsm-integration.html

I guess we would be able to plug ports LOM on the C250 on a different switch IE of 3750 which would be connected by uplink to the FI 61xx. The ANC on the C250 map would be connected directly to the FI 61xx. Would this work?

The integration guide refers only to the Nexus 2248 FEX which we do not have and I can find no confirmation elsewhere.

    Thanks in advance

    Tim

Of course, the Nexus 2 k is similar to the IOM module (2104) in 5108 chassis.

To keep the same logic of control plan the Nexus 2 k provides similar functionality.

All under the Nexus 2 k will have a chassis 'rack mount '. The nexus 2 k is not a switch by saying but a 'slave' off the parent device "switch / stop host mode" (6100). A normal switch / normal typical would not work in this case.

  • Diagram C-series management option in UCSM

I read the C-Series UCSM 2.1 integration guide that seems to suggest that with UCSM wire single or double management should be an option that must be defined, in my case, I'm looking for simple. However, I cannot find these options in global policies, or elsewhere for that matter. I can see political discovery and connection for rack strategy, but nothing for the definition of management (he is UCSM 2.1)...

Should I see an option to set this or this part of discovery?

Also, while I'm on the subject grouping of link preference applies to the integration of the series C (2232PP FEX) as well as the B series IOM?

    Hello

Also long the VIC1225 is in the appropriate housing, grid management policy is set to auto-ack and LOM cables are not connected, it had to discover as one wire.

Link grouping preferences apply if you have a fabric 62xx interconnection.  It can create a channel of port between the fabric and the fex interconnection.

  • How to move a stand-alone series C of Cisco UCS managed service profile without losing any data?

    Hello

We currently have a stand-alone series cisco C with 2012 Windows Server installed on the local disks.  We need to go this Cisco UCS server managed with a service profile, but can not lose existing data and the method of operating system boot.

Does anyone know how to do this?

    Thank you

    Hi Adrien,.

To be able to accomplish this together the local drive to 'any Configuration' policy this way UCSM won't overwrite the current raid on the server configuration.
