VM Player 3: VM Oracle Linux 5 connection errors

People,

Hello. I am running Oracle Linux 5 VM Player 3. The host OS is Windows 7.

3 VM and Oracle Linux player 5 worked properly for a long time. Today, it happens a strange error below:

After starting Oracle Linux 5 VM Player 3, I type in user name and password to connect. It takes a few minutes abnormally. 6 mistakes then comes one by one below:

1) an error occurred during the loading or saving of the configuration information for Nautilus. Some of your configuration settings may not work correctly.

I click on the "Détails" button and the following message appears:

Failed to contact configuration server; Among the possible causes are that you must enable TCP/IP for ORBit network features, or you have NFS locks defective due to a failure of the system.

see http:// www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for more information.

Details-

1: IOR file "/ tmp/gconfd-user/locking/ior" No. successfully opened. No gcond located: no such file or directory.

2: IOR file "/ tmp/gconfd-user/locking/ior" not open successfully, no location gconfd: no such file or directory.

2) an error occurred during the loading or saving of the configuration information for the Power Manager. Some of your configuration settings may not work correctly.

In the popup Window Power Manager, there is a yellow triangle with black!

The message is: the GConf, schema Setup error battery_low_percentage cannot be zero.

3) an error occurred during the loading or saving of the configuration information for print notifier. Some of your configuration settings may not work correctly.

I click on the 'Détails' button, the message is the same with error 1) Details.

4) an error occurred during the loading or saving of the configuration information for gnome-settings-daemon. Some of your configuration settings may not work correctly.

I click on the 'Détails' button, the message is the same with error 1) Details.

5) an error occurred during the loading or saving of the configuration of gnome-sessioninformation. Some of your configuration settings may not work correctly.

I click on the 'Détails' button, the message is the same with error 1) Details.

6) there was an error at startup of GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds or background settings can not work properly. The last error message was:

Has not received a response. Possible causes include: the remote application has not sent a response. Blocked bus message security policy response. The response period expired, or the network connection was broken. GNOME will always try to restart the settings Daemon next time that you log on.

After a few minutes, desktop screen becomes black background with all the icons on it.

But no bar. I can't click anywhere to run.

This is the first time for me to cope with such a strange mistake. I do not understand what causes this kind of errors.

I checked VM > Settings > hard drive > capacity:

Current size: 96.9 GB

Free system: 41.7 GB (there is free space on the Windows 7 host drive)

Maximum size: 100 GB

I created the virtual hard disk for Oracle Linux 5 as 100 GB. The current size of 96.9 GB indicates 96.9 GB 100 GB has been used. So, 100 GB - GB 96.9 = 3.1 GB.

My questions are:

(1) how much free disk space is required to start the Oracle VM Linux 5?

(2) what are the causes of the 6 mistakes when connect to Oracle Linux 5?

(3) does "not enough disk space of vm" cause 6 mistakes when connecting Oracle Linux 5?

(4) how to fix errors?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

For the question on what is LVM see: Logical Volume Manager (Linux) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For tips on how - to use LVM, please see this article:

Linux Sysadmin: How to manage LVMs with a GUI

Before you can add more space, you need to resize your virtual drive and make more great or you will need to add another virtual disk to the virtual machine.

The/3 GB to use is only available for the root user as it is in the safety margin of 5%.

If Linux, UI drag / move uses a temporary folder, then is under/tmp

To find out where disk space is used, the commando of the can be used.

Use the command "of the man" learn more about the options.

for example.

of the - SH/tmp

will show how using the tmp folder.

The - SH/home

shows how much space takes the home folder

etc...

Do you have the 32-bit WAMP? Oracle XE 11 g on Windows is 32-bit.

Did reboot you after installng so this path contains the Oracle libraries?

(A general note to everyone: use OCI8 PDO_OCI preference.) In fact, use mysqli PDO_MYSQL preference also)

  • PS6100 with firmware version 7.0.5 + Oracle Linux 5.10 + multipathd question

I try to use the multipath regular linux (device-map-multipath) with my PS6100 and it doesn't quite work. It gives me "readsector0 Auditor reports path is down," "pdu (op 0 x 50000370 itt 0x1) rejected.» Code 0 x 4 reason"errors and my iSCSI connections are reset every few seconds. My OS is Oracle Linux 5.10 (fully updated) and my PS6100 is running with the latest firmware version 7.0.5.

The latest kit from Dell STRUCK for Linux, 1.3.0-2, works fine on this machine, but the reason why I'm putting multipathd is to compare the performance between the two solution. If we look at the other system we have that run the ordinary multipathd, paths of Dell could give us performance. We doubt it, but we want to do the tests and a comparison of its performance stats.

We have another server which has almost the same configuration (same OS connected to an another PS6100) and multipathd works well on this one. And one of the difference between this system and no work is that the PS6100 is running on firmware 5.2.5 instead of 7.0.5. I'd be willing to downgrade firmware (this unit is not yet in production, and I don't mind losing the data on it) but I'm not find anything on the internet that show how other that of the "call from Dell and it'll do it for you. If the only thing you need to do is a special command in the CLI then why there is no documentation on this subject?

So I wonder if anyone here runs a firmware equallogic 7.0.5 with the multipathd of linux and a RedHat 5 of operating system (Oracle Linux, Redhat, CentOS, etc.)?

    Hello

It is documented in the release notes for the firmware 7.0.x.  There is a bug in Multipathd, which is exposed with 7.0.x. firmware.   Replace readsector0 TUR or ARM and restart multipathd.  Protocol errors will stop and Linux MPIO works perfectly.

    Hi all

Tried something out of the blue, that has worked.

I added the data_loading_user of the user to the group administrator (Group of BONES that created the wallet).

The I added the read permission to the group, so the permission on the files below were 640:

    # > chmod 640 cwallet.sso

  • Oracle 11g R2 on Oracle Linux 7 loading problems

It drives me crazy!  I use VMPlayer (6.0.4 build-2249910) to load the Oracle 7 and have no problems at all.  However, when I install Oracle 11 g R2, that's when I encounter problems (just loading software; not to create a database at the moment).  First of all, let me tell you, I'm not some process that I found on the internet several times.  There are slight differences in some of them, but essentially, I used the website below to install Oracle 11 g 2 on Oracle Linux 7:

    ORACLE-BASE - Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2) Installation on Linux Oracle 7 (OL7)

When running through the installation, I first encountered the ctx error:

    ctx.png

I could find anything on this subject, so I continued in this way.  To learn more about this later...

The next error I get is:

    emagent.png

This second error was easy to be supported by the following:

During the connection phase, you will encounter an error invoking the file 'ins_emagent.mk '. To resolve this problem, change the "$ORACLE_HOME/sysman/lib/ins_emagent.mk", do a search and replace the line below.

    FROM:

    $(MK_EMAGENT_NMECTL)

    TO  :

    $(MK_EMAGENT_NMECTL) -lnnz11

    Click 'Retry '.

Now took care of the issue emagent.

On the issue of CTX, I can't find anything on this at all!  I looked in the log file and found the following detail:

    INFO: mv /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/bin/ctxlc /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/bin/ctxlcO f

    The exception severity: 1

It seems to be hung on the reference to "memcpy@GLIBC_2.14".  I found a few web references on this, but I don't think that they apply given that sites speak other Linux distributions.

What bothers me the most about it is that I use everything which is Oracle (except VMPlayer), but I get errors that I don't think that should be the case because there is nothing else than the Oracle!

Is there something I can add to the command 'gcc' or the make file that will get this work?

BTW: I think that I will not use CTX with my DB, then will I get in trouble if I create a database with this error CTX?

    Thanks in advance!

    It drives me crazy!

That's because GR 11, 2 is not certified or supported on Linux 7 (no matter what claim of third-party sites or blog-see the subheading of the blog). Only 12cR2 is http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/LADBN/toc.htm#LADBN101

So, you can either 12cR2 (1) installation on Linux 7 by following the steps of the official installation guide or (2) downgrade your operating system Linux 5 or 6 of Linux to install 11 GR 2 (Linux 6 requires 11.2.0.3 or higher - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/relnotes.112/e23558/toc.htm#CHDFHIEA)

    (1) I created my 1st database using DBCA.

Now, I just did an entry in the LISTENING port. ORA specifying number 1521 port,

    (2) I have created a database as ORADB I specified as 1523 port number with my host name and a different database DB3 I've specified the port number 1525.

But I've specified blindly some port numbers and my host name, I got an error, the listener, I enclose the exit to the station.

    (3) when I try to ping at the entrance in the listening port, its success. tnsping was a success and I am able to connect to oracle using the connection string,

My problem is why my interlocutor doesn't support all services and how the database is able to connect to the correct database. Please find the AMT and the exit. I've also added my TNS and listener files

I am not able to connect to my database that is present in GNU / Linux my Windows System. Can I connect to the database using command prompt in windows using the TNS database file that this s in Linux?

    example: < chaine_connexion > tnsping

This connection string points to the current instance in the linux box and my tns is present in windows system.

    Listener supports no services... !

Windows to Linux listener TNS connection error!

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

    Where to start...

Your understanding of the role of the listener, its relationship to the database and its configuration are leaves much to be desired.

As Sybrand said, your listener just to a port, and the default value of 1521 is quite sufficient.  This is the port that the client will use to communicate with the listener to ask for a connection.  There is no relationship between this port and any database supported by the listener, nada, zilch, zero.

Second, you say you have entered like this in your listener.ora:

    ORCL =

    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =

    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC) (KEY = EXTPROC1521))

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dev5065) (PORT = 1521))

    )

    )

    ADR_BASE_ORCL = / u01/app/oracle

Where in the world do you have the idea to put those in listener.ora?  There is nothing like that documented in the reference Services Net (content).  Those aren't entries for tnsnames.ora, listener.ora.  And the constant repitition of ADR_BASE is useless.

The best thing you can do is to simply delete your listener.ora file and make sure that the LOCAL_LISTENER parameter in each of your databases is NOT defined.  Thereby the listener quite fortunately starts, using port 1521, and databases to record with the port to listen on this port.  Then change your customer files tnsnames.ora to 1) always specify the port 1521 and 2) remove these entries ADR_BASE.

You did not first louyo 'NAT or Bridged?' question but its context was not perhaps not clear even if, after seeing...

    [root@test-host ~] # ifconfig

    eth0 Link encap HWaddr 00: 0C: 29:55:EF:96

    INET addr:192.168.241.0 Bcast:192.168.241.255 mask: 255.255.255.0

RUNNING BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 metric: 1

It is not really important because despite everything, it is patently obvious what is the main problem!

The IP address of the guest operating system is not set properly!

louyo asked 'NAT or Bridged?', meaning is card virtual machine network configured as a 'NAT or Bridged?' if it has been filled, the guest operating system would have an IP address on the 192.168.0.0 subnet IP and as NAT would have an IP address on the 192.168.62.0 IP subnet.

Configure the guest operating system to use DHCP or manually assign a correct IP address while setting the virtual machine Network Adapter is connected by a bridge or a NAT.  Since the host uses a Wi - Fi connection, I suggest using NAT and if manually assign an IP address must be between 192.168.62.3 and 192.168.62.127, as that is beyond the scope of the DHCP Server VMnet8 IP address Pool.  If you choose to use Bridged can use DHCP in the guest operating system or using an IP address that is outside the scope of the routers IP DHCP Server Address Pool and for that, you need to check the Configuration of the router.

You didn't say which VMware product or version you are using however I strongly suggest you read the documentation and specifically Chapter 5 "Configuring network connections" in Using VMware Workstation (PDF file).

You will need to check if there is a connectivity problem between the browser and the machine of the WHO. A firewall can be a problem. You can check with your system administrator.

In addition also check the status of iptables WHO machine. If it is, then stop it and then try to access the OEM console again.

I've been setting up of database PeopleTools8.53. Because the Wizard installation problem, I created PeopleTools 8,53 database manually by using starter PT853 Oracle database instance. I have run the following scripts:
    (1) utlspace.sql
    (2) dbowner.sql
    (3) ptddl.sql
    (4) psadmin.sql
    (5) psroles.sql
    (6) connect.sql

Then, we perform Data Mover script in a Windows XP Client computer to fill the PeopleTools PT853 database machine Linux Sever instance.

I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 client for 32-bit Windows XP 64 - bit Windows virtual machine and run it successfully.

In Oracle Linux 5 Server Machine Net Manager:

    Service name: PT853
    Connection type: default database
    "TCP/IP Protocol".
    Host name: 192.168.196.102
    Port name: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

I test the Service PT853 with "SYSADM" username and password "SYSADM". The connection is successful.

In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is the same, and the connection is successful as well. Its details are as below:

    NET Service Name: PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
The host of the database Machine name: 192.168.196.102
    Port number: 1521
Name of the Basic Service: PT853
    Connection type: default database

This means that Windows XP can connect to Oracle Linux 5 successfully. But in the computer Windows XP Client, Data Mover and application designer cannot open a session in PT853 Instance of database in the Linux Server machine. Its details are below:

    Configuration manager:
    Type of database: Oracle
    The database name: PT853
    User ID: SYSADM
    Connect ID: people
    Connect password: people

    Data Mover:
    Type of database: Oracle
    User ID: SYSADM
    Password: SYSADM

    Application Designer:
    Type of database: Oracle
    User ID: SYSADM
    Password: SYSADM

When connect Data Mover and application designer, I got the same error:

ORA - 12154:TNS: can not resolve the connect identifier specified. Invalid user ID and password for the access code.

According to my understanding, process connection Data Mover and the application designer requires 3 tables in SQL Server: PSOPRDEFN, PSACCESSPRFL, PSSTATUS. I'm not sure the process of connecting to the Oracle database. I checked the database PT853 instance in Linux, and there is only one table "PSDBOWNER" created by the scripts.

    My question is:

Can any folk tell me the connection process Data Mover and Oracle database application designer? Requires only one table "PSDBOWNER"?

    Thank you.

Oh my, many mistakes action here. If PSDBOWNER doesn't have a line, it must be solved at the time that the error came out. The replacement by SYSADM first why? Why is complaining already existing SYSADM? Most likely, you HAVE created manually, where you shouldn't.

Again and again the same story. And again, sorry to say but you should take the basics of Linux training, Oracle training bases and sorry to be hard but reading training as well to read correctly the Peopletools Installation Guide where all required steps are really described in details.

I don't think anyone can help you across the network in this respect,

    Nicolas.

  • New installation woes - SQLDeveloper on Oracle 11 g XE and Oracle Linux x 64

Note that as a developer Oracle experienced in enterprise environments running the MS Windows operating system, I am familiar with SQLDeveloper for Windows. However, I have not much experience with Linux. I find not intimidating, just, I don't have a lot of accumulated knowledge.

Recently, I tried to set up a development environment on my portable Windows7 Professional x 64.

    1 installed Oracle VBox
    2. install Oracle Linux 5.2 inside the VBox (because Oracle 11 g XE is not certified on 64-bit Windows, to go with a Linux OS)
3 installed Oracle DB 11.2 XE
4 Installing JDK as described in SQLDeveloper for Linux x 64 release notes
    5 installed SQLDeveloper 3.1.07.42 - 1

No apparent problems with any of the facilities.

Problem: I can run SQL Plus command line, but when I click on the icon for SQLDeveloper, nothing happens. No error message, nothing else.

Question #1: Not sure how debug/fix it. Will read through the installation and release for SQLDeveloper, but any suggestions would be welcome.

Question #2: This could be due to a problem with the installation of JDK? It appeared to be successful (no obvious problem), but I do not see anything this either in the Oracle Linux menu system that tells me the JDK was installed successfully. How can I make sure that the JDK installation was successful?

Linux x 64 of SQLDeveloper version is shipped with the JDK. There is a recommended JDK version, with a view to install it before installing SQLDeveloper. What I did with apparent success. I guess I'll have to reinstall the JDK and check my Java versions later. Thank you.
    >
I don't know what JDK you have downloaded since you didn't say. What version is this? Post the link.

I can hardly believe that the recommended JDK version is 1.4.2 since it is an OLDER version of Java, you have to hunt to find even for download and, especially, the main download page, sql Developer Announces clear what version of Java is required.
    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/SQL-Developer/downloads/index.html

    JDK support
Oracle SQL Developer 3.1 comes with JDK1.6.0_11. However, you can connect and use any JDK 1.6.0_11 or higher. To use an existing JDK, download the below zip files "with JDK installed.' already
    >
As you can see you need JDK 1.6.0_11 or above.

If the version that you say was recommended was actually 1.4.2 is a mistake; view details so that developers can get this fixed an error.

I don't know what is on your system and can only go by the information you provide
    >
4 Installing JDK as described in SQLDeveloper for Linux x 64 release notes
    . . .
    version Java '1.4.2 '.
    >
You have either downloaded the 1.4.2 version which seems unlikely, or your Linux included 1.4.2 and it is used when you try to start sql developer.

Maybe that your system has now several versions of Java top but the version used by sql developer is evil. If so this is the question that you have to solve.

  • How to solve the problem of Oracle SQL Developer Connection?

    People,

Hello. I use the Oracle 11 GR 1 material database. The database https://localhost.localdomain:1158 control console / em works correctly. I can create a database and a table with success.

My OS is Linux and connects to the internet successfully.

In order to execute SQL statements. We use Oracle SQL Developer. I connect Oracle SQL Developer in the following way:

Connection name: DB1 (is my database name)
User name: SYS (this is the user name I used to connect to the Console)
Password: SYS (this is the password used to connect to the Console)
    Connection type: basic
    Host name: localhost
    Port: 1158
SID: DB1 (it is created during the installation of the database)

But the error message: "status: failed - IO exception Connection Reset."

Can any folk tell me how to solve the problem of Oracle SQL Developer Connection?

    user name: sys
password: enter_your_correct_password given at the time of the installation of oracle

role: select sysdba if you would connect as sysdba otherwise select normal for users other than the sys

HostName: Enter your ip or hostname of the oracle example server address:-192.168.11.12

to find the terminal/command prompt open hostname in oracle installed machine
    type---> hostname

    type ping hostname--->

You can find the IP address of the server

Port number: 1521 (default)---> I guess, otherwise check the port number in the file tnsnames.ora under your ORACLE_HOME/network/admin folder

    SID: DB1

    try it
    Good luck

  • Oracle Linux (Red Hat) on 14 t Envy Touchsmart

I am looking for a compact machine to install Oracle Linux (based on RHEL)

    for purposes of development.

The 14 t Envy Touchsmart ticked all my boxes (with the exception of the touchscreen) and I'm

a point where I am seriously considering this machine. I checked the recommended

material on Red Hat ( https://hardware.redhat.com ) that lists several HP machines,

who did not understand the desire, but I was wondering if there is a significant difference

prohibiting the RHEL running on the machine of envy from the officially

    support of the HP machines.

I understand that RHEL is through a thorough process and some materials may

do not be taken in charge yet, but I'm ready to compile and install all the required drivers and

swap the minor components of the material if necessary.

Essentially, what are the problems that I'm likely to expect in terms of compatibility of equipment?

    A.

    Well, never mind.

I'll just take the EliteBook 840.
