VMware Fusion 3.0.1 will not partition Boot Camp launch

Ok. I'm ready to drop Fusion 3.x! That is the problem.

MacBook Pro (version 3.1), VMware Fusion 3.0.1, Windows 7, Mac OS 10.6.2. I set up a partition Boot Camp 3.0 and installed Windows 7 without any problem. I then installed application VMware Fusion 3.0.1. Started VMW Fusion and tried to start the Boot Camp partition. AHHHHHHHHHH! Following error code appears:

"Could not open the disk" / Users/xxxxxx / / Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines/Boot Camp Camp/%2Fdev%2Fdisk0/Boot parition.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. "."

Reason: The partition table on the physical disk has changed since the disk was created. Remove the physical disk of the virtual machine, and then add it again. »

I uninstalled VMWF using the uninstall application. So to all the files that I thought may be affiliated. Then reinstalled VMWF 3.0.1. Same error message.

I have no idea what it is or what it means! Help, please!

This is not related to the 3.x (for example 2.x will have the same problem). The problem is that the table to partition your drive said he has and the VM wants to use the partition table does not match (maybe because you have migrated from another Mac and have a machine rest of virtual Boot Camp or repartitioned after the Boot Camp virtual machine was created). (UN) Fusion device does not affect the virtual machines, so that won't help.

Instead, leave the merge and delete the machine virtual Boot Camp /Users/$ the specified item was not found./Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines/Boot Camp. Then start the merger and allow him to recreate the Boot Camp virtual machine. As your data is on the Boot Camp partition, it is not affected by this.

Note: This assumes that you have not tampered with the virtual machine Boot Camp to add disks or snapshots or something like that. I don't remember any who never do this, but it is theoretically possible and if you don't you will lose data, so I mention it for completeness.

  • 4.0.0 ESXi under VMWare Fusion 3.0.2 will not allow the conversion of a 64-bit host

I try to use vCenter Converter Standalone 4.0.1 to try to convert a 64-bit Redhat Enterprise 5 machine in the direct address to a virtual computer. For the test, I have ESXi installed under Fusion on a MacBook Pro. The MacBook definitely 64 bit I run 64-bit Windows Vista and 7 as VMs support, including under Bootcamp.

Whenever I start the process of the Machine to convert, converter says "the destination does not support 64-bit customers."

I followed several different instructions of configuration of ESXi on the merger without success, including: http://communities.VMware.com/docs/doc-6590

Anyoneknow if this configuration is possible and how to do for this?

  • Problem with the conversion of Partition Boot Camp

I would have just dl and installed the trial version of 3.0.  After running and by selecting the boot camp for the boot partition, merge began to 'prepare' the partition for use.  After about 45 minutes, the process had not been completed.  I grew up the activity monitor and found that the process did nothing.  I closed the process, thinking I could start over again at the launch of Fusion.  Wrong, merger saw the partition boot camp into a virtual machine that could not be started.

Is there a possible way to start the process of 'preparation '?  It is apparently the only way to correct the problem.

Tried from a support ticket, but could not do while I wasn't a registered owner.

I'm trying to make my choice between Parallels and Fusion, or just stick with BootCamp.  I hope someone can help me with this problem.

    Harry

    Dear Harry,

I did the same thing yesterday. My BootCamp partition has Windows XP (SP3) and I also have Parallels. I'm now trying to decide if I stay with Parallels or Fusion 3 (to take a possible advantage over the 64-bit @ Snow Leopard).

My upgrade was fine, it took about 15 minutes to get BootCamp running on the merger. A small step has been to re - activate my XP with Microsoft license, because the "material" changes. I have the MACBOOK PRO 13 '' 2.53 with 4 GB of RAM. I don't really have time to play yesterday, but between Parallels and Fusion 3, (64-bit), I did not see too much improvement on the 'speed '.

An advantage of having any of virtualization software, is that you can have multiple operating systems running, such as XP, Windows7, etc. I need that because my work, the developer. If you can stay only with an operating system, I guess, BootCamp works very well.

    Kind regards

  • Re-partitioned Boot Camp does not not on VMware Fusion

Hi, I had windows xp installed on boot camp and installed on vmware fusion, that worked well, but then I decided I wanted more memory and have vista instead. Installed on boot camp, but when I click on the partition boot camp on vmware fusion it still considers that I want the xp windows and says that the files have been move or restricted access or check for lack of files failed. Can anyone help, I tried to reinstall vmware, but the same result came out.

Note: These senses are different which have already been posted so read and follow through... Note: These steps assume that you have a single Apple to default installation of Windows on a single Boot Camp partition and Boot Camp of VMware Fusion single default partition Machine virtual (without a snapshot *) and if you have changed the partition Boot Camp Virtual Machine to add additional hard disks to be virtual or RAW disk then do not use these instructions unless you backup the Boot Camp partition the Machine package virtual first. * Also note that Fusion 2.0.0 may accidentally have a snapshot with the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine and it should not have, then you should check to ensure that the condition does not exist as well. (With merger closed if the partition Boot Camp Virtual Machine package is over 1 MB in size, then you might have a snapshot in place and do not continue with these instructions.)

    1. If the merger is open, close it.

    2. in a Terminal (/ Applications/Utilities/Terminal) copy and paste command, as the following and then press Enter and it will delete the partition Boot Camp Virtual Machine of the metadata and the Virtual Machine to help.

  • File not found: Boot Camp partition.vmdk

Help!   I recently replaced the HD in my MacBook Pro, then to backup cloned the OSX partition, re-created the Boot Camp partition and restored from an image of Winclone.   Start directly on Boot Camp works very well.  However. Fusion 2.0.1 I see the Boot Camp partition (power off), but when I start it up I have the msg: file not found: Boot Camp partition.vmdk.   This file is supposed to be in the OSX or the Boot camp partition?  Projector can't find anything in the OSX partition.   What should I do?

Note: These steps assume that you have a default Apple installation of Windows and a VMware Fusion Boot Camp Virtual Machine default partition and if you changed the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine to add additional hard disks to be virtual or RAW disk then do not use these instructions unless you backup the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine package first.

    2. in a Terminal (/ Applications/Utilities/Terminal) copy and paste command, as the following and then press Enter and it will remove the Boot Camp Virtual Machine meta-data partition. Notes: Then, an authentication dialog box appears. "VMware Fusion requires that you type your password." Enter your name and password, and then click OK. (It is necessary to remove the Boot Camp for the merge partition to access it directly).

Then, we should see a Boot Camp partition message stating "VMware Fusion prepares your Boot Camp partition to run as a virtual machine. This may take a few minutes. This occurs once. »

When the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine starts for the first time after this VMware Tools may want or will install/update and restart the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine.

  • Resized Partition Boot Camp, is no longer work

I used the Tune Camp to resize my Boot Camp partition, which worked very well.  I can boot into Mac or my Boot camp.  But when I tried to load my partition Boot Camp in Fusion, I got an error message stating that I had to "remove my hard drive and then add it back."

So, I went into the settings of for my Boot Camp in merging partition and removed my hard drive.

But now I can not add it again.  I do not know how to proceed, and Fusion does not start from my Boot Camp Partition not more because he does not see any hard drive.

Can anyone help with this?  Or, can anyone describe how can I say merge to re - install my partition Boot Camp, or re - initialize somehow?

The following has not been updated for Fusion 3, but is still applicable in what to do as much as to try to correct the situation.  Because you used a third-party tool 3rd you can have inconsistent information between GPT and MBR and could require techniques advances in recovery of preforms however try which is below first.

  • partition boot camp disappeared after resizing Macintosh HD

    Hello

I have a macbook pro with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.

I had a windows 8.1 installed on boot camp and ran out of space on windows, so I tried to extend the space by adding a new partition on mac and then merge on windows using the "minitool' but when I rebooted with now that the ALT key was not the boot camp partition...

I then started the mac and changed the boot disk in boot camp and restarted and it gave me a message "there is no disk bootable..." or something like that.

It's really important not to lose the windows and more important still do not have to format the new laptop please (because I had a similar problem before Re: Partitioning a Hard Drive Error on MacBook Pro)

I tried to check for similar discussions but seemed to I'll do it is harder to resolve because I do not understand most of what is said and was afraid to do worse.

    Hello MayMedhat,

I understand the partition Boot Camp have been adjusted and you are no longer able to access the windows on your MacBook Pro.  Because you cannot access side Windows of your Mac after setting, you must recreate your Boot Camp partition and reinstall Windows on your Mac.

Set up Windows on your Mac partition

Change the size of the partition

It is not possible to change the size of the partition after installing Windows, but you can delete the partition and create a new partition to the correct size. Do not try to resize your Windows partition or a third-party application.

  • Activator Windows 8 Pro on VMWare Fusion 5 - product key does not work

I installed a copy retail of windows 8 pro on the fusion 5 using a 64-bit installation disc which worked well (it's my first virtual machine so I didn't install windows 8 to an existing partition of windows 7, so I installed just installed windows 8 new) during the installation it asked for the product key, which he accepted. After installation I tried to customize windows 8 and he told me that I had to "activate windows". I go into settings > activate windows, enter the product key and it will not accept it. He refuses my product key and I do not know how to work around.

How to activate windows? I bought a bad copy of windows 8? Should I buy an OEM version of windows 8? Any help would be great!

  • VMWare Fusion 6.0.5: Could not open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory.

I've been running VMWare Fusion 6 on my MacBook Pro with the Mavericks for quite awhile.  I just got a Mac Mini with Yosemite and I want to copy one of my virtual machines of the MBP to the Mini.

I tried to just copy the vmware.vm of the MBP to the Mini but when I open it and try to start it I get the following errors:

    • Unable to open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory.

Please ensure that the "vmmon" kernel module is loaded.

    • Could not initialize the surveillance apparatus.
    • Internal error

I also tried to import the vmware.wm file, but it is always grayed out.

How can I copy a virtual machine from one Mac to another?

    Hi atj777,

Are you absolutely certain that this is Fusion 6.0.5, you're there?  Fusion 6.0.4 and earlier would fail on Yosemite the way you describe.  There are many other possible causes of the same error message, but it would be the first thing I would check a second time.  (My apologies if you have already verified!)

What version of Yosemite are you running?  10.10.2?

It can also be useful to restart your Mac to see if that helps... sometimes he does.

To answer your question directly: simply copy the ".vmwarevm" package on the whole should be enough.  The message you see is a generic merge error and has nothing to do with the copy process.

    See you soon,.

    Hello

1 have you made changes to hardware or BIOS settings recently?

    2. What is the brand and model of the computer?

I suggest to follow the steps provided and check if it helps.

Enter your menu of the BIOS by pressing F2 at startup. Check the following settings:

    Function of the option

Primary hard drive 0 displays the primary hard drive 0. The default value is Auto.

Main main Hard Drive 1 shows hard

Disc 1 (if installed). The default value is disabled.

Make sure that primary 0 is set to AUTO.

I think I have the solution to two of my questions:
    1. do not load the npr Media Player
    2. in Firefox close, closing not the .exe file I had to unload manually in order to be able to start Firefox.

The solution seems to be to remove the add-on XMARKS 4.2.1.

This seemed like a great add-on, but not for this expense. Here I have another who works maybe?

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Space unallocated after having imported the Partition Boot Camp

    Hey!

After importing my Boot Camp Partition in Fusion 5, I have the problem that I see that some not allocated in the management of the amount of disk space for the Volume 0. (See photo)

    Bildschirmfoto 2013-06-19 um 07.23.07.png

I realized it was the OS X disk space that appeared in Boot Camp.

I already cleaned the drive by

    1. Go to the Virtual Machine > settings > hard drives.
    2. Select wipe drive.

I don't care that until yesterday, but now I wish my virtual hard drive and the cursor starts at 233,76 Go, but real HDD VM has a size of about 66 GB.

    Thank you in advance!

    Patrick

    Hey Patrick,

As the actual size of the vmdk is 66GB then while its import, he examined the entire disk and shows that you have a big enough drive, shows you in disk management.

-Well here, you have 2 options. 1. you can ignore it and start using it as it is.

2nd is that is you would like to have the exact amount of disk because it is consumed, you can use VMware vCenter Converter Stand alone. In this converter, you have an option to select the given hard disk space to copy > click Edit > under source volume > Destination size > select as minimum and convert. (Screen Shot attached)

    -Hope this helps you.
