VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5.0 build-1362012 - unknown internal error trying to P2V Windows Server 2003 SP2

I have a box of Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard that fails to convert using vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5.0 build-1362012. After you submit the task in the wizard's GUI, I get "a general error has occurred: unknown internal error". A virtual machine is created and deleted and then a few moments later.

Both machines are in the same network and have no any King or firewall or ACL in switches.

In the log file, the only error is "error"Ufa.HTTPService"] Impossible to read the application; "flow: io_obj p:0x03403f24, h:-1, < tube"\\.\pipe\vmware-converter-server-soap">, < pipe"\\.\pipe\vmware-converter-server-soap"> >, error: class Vmacore::TimeoutException (Operation timed out).

Hi all

Once the converter VMware-converter-en - 5.5.1 - 1682692 does not work, with a touch of friend uninstall the 5.5 version of Converter Standalone Client, look for the VMware converter version - 4.0.0 - 146302 and install this version to the other machine. No not that I had to be Converter, but the windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

After this race, the Standalone Client 4.4 Converter and everything work fine.

Now I have the P2V converted and good machine, as was the real operation!

I thank all of you.

Best regards

  • VMware vcenter converter standalone physical conversion to virtual stuck to the completion of 81% for several days

Hello everyone I have an interesting question, I'm physical conversion to virtual pointing to the new virtual directly on the server esx conversion would set schedule for a day. But now, it's just stuck at 81% and not go further! I don't get any errors of ideas? questions are there a basis that I can look to see what is happening? Is there a way I can fix it without start over again. There are enough resources on the destination esx I had to change the hard drive space for destination and ram, but done nothing radical imprint more small which I think should do better.

It's an interesting case, you have here. I guess that conversion is complete, but somehow you do not see or a deadlock occurred.

Anyway you will probably be able to export logs to the customer. Go to the directory of newspapers to %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\logs (for WP/W3K) or vCenter Converter Standalone\logs %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\VMware (for Vista +) and find the log of the last worker (vmware-converter-worker - .log #). The status of the conversion is currently connected. Take a look, or that she has finished, is still running, is stuck.

If he has you can try restarting the client and/or server converter service. Do not stop the worker service unless you are sure that there is no conversion running!

    Welcome to the community,

It is most likely a problem with the virtual drive created for the converted virtual machine controller. Unless you specify the correct controller ("LSI Logic SAS' for Windows 7) type in the Converter Wizard, you can end up with an IDE controller.

  • Can't access file system host (MAC) shared in VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client when wanting to create a VMware image (Windows 7 in Parallels virtual machine running on a MAC) for the option of machine Powered On.

File HOST (Mac) system is currently shared in the Parallels virtual machine and is accessible through Windows Explorer and works correctly in the Virtual Machine environment, however, after installing vCenter Converter application on the Windows virtual machine these shared folders are not accessible from the conversion tool in the selection of the target destination of the file VMware (s). I can't select an existing folder on drive "C:" to write the image so that there is not enough space available for the VMware image and it must be written in a different file system, while the image is being created.

Anyone know a way around it to show the target to write the image on the host (MAC OS) file system or is it a bug?

Thanks for the reply.  It seems that the maps are not displayed if they were created as actions by the hosts.  When I created a mapping directly from Windows, then this mapping appeared and the conversion worked fine.

Unfortunately the coverter allows me to choose Fusion 4.0 and earlier versions.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I hope that VMware is looking at upgrading the standalone converter to make compaitble with Fusion 5.0 anyone else having this problem?

There is nothing wrong with convert to a Machine virtual VMware Fusion 4.  Once converted and opened in VMware Fusion 5 you can simply enhance the comparability of material to VMware Fusion 5 through its parameters.

  • VMware vCenter Converter Standalone - Reconfigure destination option VM

    Hey,.

I export a virtual machine to a vCenter for import on another vCenter using the stand-alone converter. I noticed that there is an option 'Reconfigure destination virtual machine' in the section Options window ' View/Edit Options '. The pop-up on this option indicates that 'Reconfiguration makes the guest OS bootable in a VMware virtual machine '.

I was wondering if this option is required since I'm migration of virtual machines between vCenters. I'm not having any problem leaving checked, but I would like to know if I can uncheck safe, just for my own curiosity. If no one knows for sure, I'll test it and see what happens.

If you have vCenter then a migration cold would be the best choice.  Have two ESX servers in the same data center and then you can migrate cold while the virtual machine is stopped to the new host

  • VMware Vcenter Converter Standalone Java SDK

    Hi guys,.

Currently, I'm trying to imitate what is the GUI version, but I want to use scripts to do the work that is, somehow, to automate the whole process. I installed the Client-Server version, using the code example in the sdk > samples > axis, I managed to do the job, however, I'm unable to specify the minimum value for a specific record. I want to do this because the GUI version allows me to take a minimum storage for a specific disk space and place it on the ESXi server, for my version of java SDK I am unable to take the minimal storage space and had to take the entire disk that I don't like.

For example, the C drive has a total of 200 GB with 50 GB used space and 150 GB of unused space

Version of GUI-> able to avoid 200 GB and take approximately 50 GB only (give and take a few GB more) push-to-server ESXi
Version java SDK-> only able to take in all of 200 GB and push to ESXi that takes lots of my ESXi Server

Is it possible, for example by specifying a certain variable so that I can push my drive with minimum disk storage value instead of taking the entire batch of unused space? Oh and 1 other question, is possible to turn on virtual machines in the ESXi after reboot using a script? I did search but can't really find anything so I thought that it would be a good thing to ask here. Any help would be appreciated because I'm a newbie with this

    See you soon!

    Hello

You must set the target disk and volumes to clone in order to be able to specify the size of the volume. By default, when these are disabled, is to keep the source size of the volumes.

First make sure you have the SDK examples that are new, such as 6.0 or 6.1. Then, look at the end of the submitwinp2vjob.properties file, you will see this section:

; Must precede the individual disk fields. Assumed to be 0 if not defined. Must follow target.type.

; Fields of individual disk with a number equal or greater than this indictment will be ignored.

    Storage.targetdisk.Count =

; Use of the source id obtained by QuerySource or leave blank for new disks

    Storage.targetdisk.sourcediskid #0 =

; The valid values for target managed: vmfsMonolithicFlat, vmfsMonolithicFlatThinProvisioned,.

    ;                                                vmfsTwoGbFlat, vmfsTwoGbFlatThinProvisioned

; The valid values for target hosted: monolithicFlat, monolithicSparse, twoGbFlat, twoGbSparse

; Leave blank to use the default value of the target

    Storage.targetdisk.DiskType #0 = vmfsMonolithicFlatThinProvisioned

    Storage.targetdisk.LVG #0 = false

    Storage.targetdisk.GPT #0 = false

Storage.targetdisk.datastore #0 =; Name of the data store; applicable and compulsory for managed targets

; Must precede the fields individual volumestoclone. Assumed to be 0 if not defined.

; Fields of individual volume with a number equal or greater than this indictment will be ignored.

    Storage.targetdisk.volumestoclone.Count #0 =

; The first index is the index of the disk, the second is the volume index

; Use of that source id obtained by QuerySource

    Storage.targetdisk.volumestoclone.sourcevolumeid #0 #0 =

    Storage.targetdisk.volumestoclone.Resize #0 #0 = false

    Storage.targetdisk.volumestoclone.newcapacityinbytes #0 #0 =

    Storage.targetdisk.volumestoclone.newclustersizeinbytes #0 #0 =

Here, you must complete the number of target, properties of the target disks disk and their number of respective volumes and properties.

The trickiest part is to get the ID of source disks and volumes. Querying the source info will give you this data (as indicated by the comment). Then, you have to find a way to set up the configuration of the target using these data. It is this that the customer of the user interface, and it gives a lot of flexibility for the user to change this configuration. Something that you should be aware is that when this Linux P2V, each logical volume group gets its own target disk (and his "storage.targetdisk.lvg #i" sets to true).

    Once you describe the target configuration, usestorage.targetdisk.volumestoclone.resize #i #j = true fields'and'storage.targetdisk.volumestoclone.newcapacityinbytes #i #j =' resize the volume.

The numbers after the signs sharp suck according to index (not ID!) of the disk and volume (in that order). In the previous line, 'I' is the index of the disc, 'j' is the volume index.

I'm trying to convert physical machine to virtual - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    gamarion,

Welcome to the VMware Community Forums!

The newspaper provided does not contain the information we need.  For your next post, please use the function "Export logs" converter (File Menu, or right-click on a task that failed) and attach it to the post office.

I saw an error which is very generic during the wizard of converter, on networks, and just before you get to step 3.  It was with a couple Dell 1950 / 2950 s.  This occurs when the converter tries to collect information on the virtual drive of Dell Remote Access Card (DRAC).

If you open disk management, you will see the device listed as Disk0. You must disable the VSF Dell virtual disk device in Device Manager and restart the server to resolve this problem. You can also disable the virtual floppy drive device of in the DRAC setup at boot time.

    Kind regards
