VMware View 5.3 and GRID K2 NVIDIA cards

Any help appreciated

I'm running a VMware View 5.3 POC

VSphere 5.5

NVIDIA-VMWare ESXi 5.5 319.65xxxxxx.vib

See 5.3

SL250s

nVidia GRID K2

Question

1.

SSH the host

VT - d (virtual technology for Directed i/o is enabled in the bios, if I run esxcfg-module-| grep vtddmar, it does not appear as a module.)

Did I miss something or?

2.

This may relate to the above I am using cards NVIDIA GRID K2 (2 GPU) for the transmission of the GPU, if I enable the PCI on the hardware parameters on the ESXi host for two GPUS of the card no longer works and you won't see this by running /etc/init.d/xorg status and or gpuvm. If I click on 1 GPU on PCI devices, what happens with the xorg and gpuvm.

Any help in getting these maps work would be appreciated.

Concerning

Paul

Hey Paul.

If you mix vSGA (shared virtual Graphics Adapter) and vDGA (virtual Dedicated Graphics Adapter)

With vSGA you load the driver on the host (VIB) and enable x.org and don't use NOT of PCI Passthrough

With vDGA, you load the driver on the driver of comments (Standard Nvidia) and NO driver on the computer host and you use Passthrough.

Which you are trying to use?

  • Disable the protocols and encryption algorithms in VMware View connection server and security

    Hello

In my recent deployment, I had a customer request to disable some protocols and encryption at the Server VMware View connection and security. I read some articles and found that this has been achieved by editing the locked.properties file. But when we have edited and replaced the file, users could not connect to the virtual desktop, so came back to us backwards and desktop computers worked fine.

I found a few articles that we don't need to edit the locked.properties file in VMware view Horizon 6. If someone has done this please guide me through. Here are the details of the protocols and encryption algorithms that should be disabled

    Diffie-Hellman key

Enable SSL v2/V3 and TLS 1.1 and 1.2

    Disable the RC4 encryption algorithm

Select the secret of transfer (if possible)

VMware view 6 is the connection to the server and security server.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I implemented the following steps (from the manual):

    1. update the JCE policy files to take in charge the high-strength Cipher Suites

You can add some cipher suites of high resistance for greater assurance, but first you must update the local_policy.jar and US_export_policy.jar files to each server instance and the security strategy for JRE 7 see connection to the server. You update these policy files by downloading the files to extend JCE (Java Cryptography) unlimited strength political jurisdiction from the Oracle Java SE download site 7.

If you include some high-strength cipher suites in the list and you do not replace the policy files, you cannot restart the VMware view Horizon connection to the Server service.

Policy files are located in the directory C:\Program View\Server\jre\lib\security from VMware.

For more information on the download of the JCE unlimited strength jurisdiction policy 7 files, see the Oracle Java SE download site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html.

After you update the policy files, you need to create backups of the files. If you upgrade the instance of the view connection server or security server, any changes you have made to these files can be replaced, and you may need to restore the backup files.

    2. the changes that policies of global acceptance with ADSI Edit

    • Start the ADSI utility on your computer see connection to the server.
    • In the console tree, select Connect to
    • In the selection or type a unique name text box or a naming context, type the unique name
DC, DC = vdi is vmware, DC = int.
    • In the type or select a text field or the server box, select or type localhost: 389 or the name of a fully qualified domain (FQDN) of the server computer to connect to port 389 followed view.

For example: localhost: 389 or mycomputer.mydomain.com:389

    • Expand the tree of the ADSI Editor, OU = properties, select OU = Global, then select OU = common in the right pane.
    • On the object CN = common, Global = UO, UO = properties, select each attribute that you want to change and enter the new list of security protocols or cipher suites.
      I used the following settings:

    EAP-ServerSSLCipherSuites: \LIST:TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA256

    EAP-ServerSSLSecureProtocols_ \LIST:TLSv1.1,TLSv1.2

It is not the highest possible, but they work with all the features of our customers.

    • Restart the service of VMware view Horizon connection server (server connection and security).

This is not Activate secret transfer (if possible) , but other points are covered.

If anyone can give a tip to activate the transfer secret, I would be grateful.

  • VMWare View 5.1 and authentication RADIUS - password problem

I use Trustwave for 2-factor authentication on a Server View 5.1.1.  The Server Proxy of Trustwave requires that you enter your password to Active Directory followed by a comma, then the access provided by Trustwave code.  After that, you get the VMWare View normal login where you have to put your password in Active Directory.  Is there a way to remove the comma and the password of the first login box and simply pass the Active Directory password for the 2nd dialog box?  See the following two dialog boxes.

NOTE: All works fine, but it is confusing for the user to enter his password to Active Directory twice.

NOTE: When I check the box in the authenticators, manage, use the same username and password for Windows and RADIUS authentication, I naturally get an error because it is passing the password to Active Directory, the comma and the password of Trustwave at the 2nd fret of the connection.

    taopiglet wrote:

    ...

    Laughing out loud

What happens with multiple RADIUS servers, is that the first guest username and password in AD. There is then a Challenge to get the access token code. In this case, you can configure view to ignore the next AD password prompt that the view can take the original RADIUS (AD password) authentication code and use it for the part of the AD authentication.

A certain RADIUS vendors operate in this way.

If the RADIUS of Trustwave server can be configured to do a Challenge of access, it would be a more standard approach to try to analyze the fields password in this way.

I can see why this would not be irritating to users.

    Select this option.

  • VMware View 4.6 and vSphere Client performance

    Hello world

    I prepare a demo for VMware View 4.6, a small, with internal disks (3 x 600 GB, 6 GB/s SAS, 10 k RPM RAID 5), network: 100 MB (it was never a problem demos), within IBM x 3650 M3, 32 GB of RAM, 2 x xeon 4 c E5620 2.4 GHz.

There are 3 virtual machines of Windows 2008 R2 (4 GB RAM and 20 GB disks) and 6 virtual desktops (2 GB RAM) and 30 GB drive XP

    In 10 k RPM there is 150 IOPS / s, so 3 drives x 150 = 450 IOPS / s-> 450 / 9 mV = 50 IOPS / s p/vm. I know that if IOPSp/vm is over 30, it's good, so this seems like a good script.

I don't know what should I look to find the cause of poor performance.

VI Client is really slow, and worse even desktop computers.

Can you guide me to find the problem please?

    Thank you!

Your latency of storage time seems a bit high, how the store looks like it? Possible alignment issues?

You have a lot of CPU resources, I'd give workstations an another vCPU.

  • VMware View Pool counties and surveillance

Anyone know where I can find this information that displays stats of pool in the SQL backend tables:

    http://monosnap.com/image/503b9098e4b015e49cca4a46.png

Looking for a quick report I can put together to get information for all pools show me what open vs not

I know that you can do with VBScript. The following two links will be hopefully help you get started:

    http://www.ActiveXperts.com/network-monitor/windowsmanagement/scripts/otherds/Adam/retrieving/

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc758446 (v = ws.10) .aspx

As long as the script is running as a local administrator on a login server user, you should be able to bind to the server and run the queries needed to get the information.

The areas that you want to consider are:

    OU = servers<-This contains="" a="" reference="" for="" each="" virtual="">

    Groups of servers OU<-This contains="" a="" reference="" for="" each="">

Under each office object, you want to search for the status attribute, and the attribute of maintenance mode for more information.

The best way to become familiar with what you are looking for is to connect to ADAM using ADSIedit and search the areas mentioned above. This way you can see which object you are looking at using the attribute DisplayName-pae and compare the State as it is with what is displayed in the attributes for this object.

Hope this helps get you started!

  • DST and vmware view = weird questions

This is the 3rd time that when the time comes or goes we get questions of kind of weird in our very frequent floating pools, VMs stuck in starting up, wait for connection etc.

  • VMware VDI vs VMware View Horizon?

    Hi all

This should be easy for you, the gurus of VMware

I have a requirement to expand a network of a single
location central out for a large company and I am looking to use Thin
Customers in the new corporate reach in a VMware VDI environment offices
in the center of data centralized where we already have a full blown 5 of Vsphere
    environment for our servers.

I was originally looking for VMware VDI via VDA (http://download3.vmware.com/demos/vdi/)
and was sold on the idea that it would be a good choice given the WAN
traffic to the Thin Client workstations based on RDP/PCoIP and so
    not particularly heavy.

However since then looked back to VMWare View and this
seeks to do the same thing that the VDI put in place and seems to have much more
    information about this.

I first thought that VMware View Horizon set caching of desktop
locally (as for a profile of the end user on the WAN) has no sound
too good to the traffic congestion, etc. so I rejected directly at the exit!

Can someone tell me if the VDI via the VDA solution has been replaced
VMware View Horizon? And if so point me a definitive guide for VMware View

    Thanks in advance

    David

  • Map: a USB in VMware View Client

    Hello

I am new to VMware and I want to use a feature. A physical machine, I connect to a virtual with VMware View Client skyline. I want to map (or redirect, or another alternative definition), a physical USB of my physical PC into virtual.

    How can I handle this?

In Vmware View client, I in the upper part, a tab with USB connection, and it says "USB redirection is not available.

Director of VMware View, group policies and settings are configured to allow the USB connection. Nevertheless, it doesen't work. physical USB to the PC, does not appear in the Virtual PC.

    What can we do?

    Thank you

those install newspapers look to be on the client machine, rather than agent - so that they don't help us here.

the problem is clearly that the part is not happy - you reason with the log lines, that you highlight. and, since the Device Manager, it looks like it is unhappy with several of the 'virtual' pilots he tried to install it.

Was it a win7 'clean' installation of comments, on which you have installed the Agent discovered - or he previously had an agent installed that you upgrade?

the problem is certainly part, and you should not see the triangles of signs in Device Manager. Maybe you can try to remove the agent and re install.

    see you soon

Looks like the Sun JVM, the portion of the agent running JMS integration crashes at startup. It's just a guess, but I've seen a similar case with another client where they were running XP virtual machines with large amounts of RAM and some third-party software that was loading DLLs in the middle of the address space of the process. The JVM tries to get a contiguous area of memory, it may be falling on this sequel to a similar problem. On large memory systems, the default behavior of the JVM seizes more than necessary (although it is normally not a problem), try to set the following in the registry to avoid this:

    [Manager\JVM of \VMware VDM\Node of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc..]

    JVMOptions = - XX: + ForceTimeHighResolution-Xmx64m

Note that I added only option - Xmx64m to the existing setting.

  • Migrate to VMware View 4.6

    Hello

What are the exact differences between VMware View 4.6 and 4.5.

What operating system supports VMware View 4.6?

Do we get the best performance with VMware View 4.6 on WAN?

Note that 4172 between the connection to the server and security server is not necessary. The correct rules are here - http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view-46-architecture-planning.pdf - there is an entire section detailing "for servers security DMZ Firewall rules. See also http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-14974 for the three steps needed to implement.

Also note that https is the default value for the configuration of the Security server for interaction with the normal client and the secure tunnel (https).

    Select this option.

  • Unable to connect to the host via VMWare View Security Server 4

I have installed and configured the VMWare View connection server and can connect to the virtual machine (Windows XP Pro) shareed via the customer to view without a problem. The problem Im having is that I have configured the Security server in my zone demilitarized and authorized the appropriate DMZ ports and the port 80 and 443 to the outside on my DMZ. Access the public URL and he invites me to authenticate what I do and it then publishes my office pool. I click to connect to the shared pool and it says connection for about 5 drops of s and then just my connection. Now, if I go to my security on my DMZ server, I can connect to the thin desktop via RDP.

    Thank you

eeg3 is correct if you have a direct connection enabled on the broker for connections paired with security server then you would be forced to open 3389 to the outside world since the workstations would try to connect directly to the desktop.    The right way to go forward is to create the replica with disabled direct connection and combine security with this box server.

  • VMware View in WAN

    Hello

I'm really interested in VMware View on WAN (MPLS or VPN Internet)?

What bandwidth normally required by VMware View client?

BTW, someone already use VMware View on WAN and would report his experience?

    Hello

We use it here, and it works very well.

The RDP Session - task user = 50 Kbps

The RDP Session - Power User = 120 kbps

PCoIP Session - user of the task = 120 kbps

PCoIP Session = Power User = as much as you can

I used size chart to vmguru.nl to the size of my environment - great article, there isn't.

    See you soon!

  • my pc slows down whenever I want to play a game. has got more ram czec and new nvidia card don't know what else to do. can you help me?

my computer slows down whenever I want to play a game. GRIP more memory ram and a new nvidia card.dont not know what else to do. can you help me? game comes on and goes back to the desktop wallpaper.

    What games do you play?

the 3200 + is OOOOLLD and you would be difficult to run whatever be done in recent years at all

and you get drivers like that who already have your computer or MB, realtek can be obtained from the realtek site

Since you don't list the exact model of each card, we cannot say whether you are running a GF2 MX or what

and uninstall the nvidia cp stuff, then run http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ to clear what is not respected

  • VMware VIew 6 (PCOIP): Windows Client and web browser connects, Android and Ubuntu - don't

    Hello colleagues!

    VMware Horizon Client 3.4.0 build-2769709

    VMware View 6.1.1 construction-2769403

    VMware vSphere 6.0.0 2776511

That's what's wrong: used SecurityServer and connecting to the server. External connection - via a router. When it is connected to a vmware PCOIP Protocol (Internet) outside of the view with a Windows client and a web browser, it works fine. But when connecting from Android or Linux (Ubuntu 14) load the desktop does not occur. Android immediately displays the message 'connection to server lost', Ubuntu delivers all messages - I'll be back on the screen to select a pool table.

Which connection via MS RDP connection protocol is correctly to all customers.

In the settings ConnectionServer in PCOIP Security Gateway set up the external address of the router.

    Redirect them router ports:

    -TCP 80,443,8443,4172,32111

    -UDP 4172,32111

    Any ideas?

In security settings server in 'URL of PCOIP' was FQDN, but it must be the IP address.

  • Problems with the module supplier of personalized identification information and overview of VMware View Client working together

I have a Horizon of VMware View client that connects me HVD Windows 7. So when I give view client Vmware Horizon my credentials, it auto logs me. I also created a custom credential provider that works on Windows 7 PC. When I install the custom in the HVD credentials provider, it works if I am already connected to HVD and I simulate CTRL + ALT + DELETE. Can I use my credential provider to "unlock" in. However, if I disconnect of HVD and try to connect using VMware Horizon View client to connect to Windows 7 of HVD, it gets stuck on the screen of the tile. I see the VMware SSO user tile but nothing happens when I click it. Then, I use my provider of customized credentials to connect. I expect to bypass my ISP credentials on the first connection and self as before.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks for your help.

OK, I did some more troubleshooting and discovered that it was a problem with auto connection set to TRUE on my side of custom credentials provider (I pbAutoLogonWithDefault to TRUE). Since I still like it TRUE, I had originally set it to FALSE and then change for REAL once my credential provider was used.

    Thank you!
