  • Client DHCP is unable to get a valid IP address from the DHCP server.

Client DHCP is unable to get a valid IP address from the DHCP server. I have a home edition of Windows XP attempts to connect to my router wirelessly with wireless or wired connection but I get an error in Event Viewer with the discription DHCP 1007 error message. From what I researched, I discovered that the DHCP service depends on the AFD, TCP/IP and NetBT services. All these services are correctly place and worked very well (even the DHCP service is running without error) but every time I try to release/renew my IP address I receive than DHCP warning in the case where the viewer and I just cannot get a valid IP address of the server (router) I also have one of these verizon wireless G3 usb adapters and it works fine. I receive also any error or warning in the security log or at least I don't know how to read: P

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the information.

I hope you know that it is risky to connect the laptop to the Internet with no firewall and no antivirus... If this laptop is already connected to the Internet in this State, he is perhaps already infected.

You said you know the router works because the other computers can connect successfully to it.  You should check the configuration of the router to make sure that it is not configured to limit the number of IP address it supplies, and (b) it is not configured to filter users by MAC address.

When this laptop is connected by Ethernet, even if he gets the IP address of 169.254.x.y, can you ping the router?  Find the IP address of the router on any computer connected to it by running the ipconfig command in a command prompt window.  The "default gateway" is the IP address of the router.  Run the ping command in the command prompt window as well.

If the ping is successful, it is possible that you might be able to use an IP address in the correct range for an Ethernet cable (but I doubt that it works for the wireless).

  • Virtual machines do not get IP address from the DHCP server

Hello! I just spend Xenserver to ESXi. Created a couple of virtual machines and none of them gets an IP address from our DHCP server (DHCP server is a physical PC), and instead, they get a number of internal 192.168.x.y allowing connection to the internet.

Looks like a way to do this is to install a virtual machine that is a router, as M0n0wall, and route traffic to connect to the external network and finally to access internet. But this is not what I have to do.

I need to have virtual machines that are server to get an IP reserved for our DHCP server, and then our local windows client should be able to access it directly.

I searched on google and forums for this but I can't seem to find how to configure virtual machines to directly belong to our local network.

I thought that VMware would have a simpler way to do so than XenServer, but I was stuck on this one day now and really frustrated as I get not before with this project, stuck on this little problem... sigh...

    Thanks for your help.

    GER.

ESXi does not IP addresses to the virtual machines it host - if the virtual machines are not able to access your physical network than that of the thw two virtual machines acts as a DHCP server - now to the question of network - if you are not able to reach the virtual machines on the physical network or achieve fitness network virtual machines , then there is a problem with the physical connection to the ESXi host, possibly the configuration of the physical port that connects to the - is a way to test this theory to assign an IP address on the same network that the management port - if you are able to access the virtual machine, then you know that the problem is with the switch port.

I put the disc - extract files-(he says they have been unpacked) was a new step for me to do after that? Help, please!
    Thank you!

    Hello

We recommend that you install the router (see its manual) and the pilot of NIC once more and check the difference. In the first post, you mentioned that you decompressed or extracted files. Once the files are extracted, you will be asked to install the driver. However if you do not receive any prompts for the driver, then you will need to locate the destination folder where the files are checked to find the configuration file.

Open the destination folder where the files are extracted and run the Setup file to complete the installation.

To download and install the latest network card driver, visit the site Web of the manufacturer of the device or system.

    I hope this helps.
    Kind regards
    Syed

  • Get a strange IPv4 address of the DHCP server

    Hi all

As title, I got a strange IP - DHCP server 169.254.XXX.XXX.

I used Wireshark, tried to get the bootp packets.  I found that my laptop 169.254.xxx.xxx used as source address to send DHCP Discover.

In addition, there is an option called content with 169.254.xxx.xxx requested ip address. Like my source address.

I couldn't access the Internet with this IP address.

I was wondering, is that it is a normal behavior for windows 7 to use 169.254.xxx.xxx to send DHCP Discover?

A DHCP request is sent through the universal 255.255.255.255 broadcast address which is one of the addresses that a server is listening. The query includes the MAC address of the applicant unit because at this point, it doesn't have an IP address. The DHCP server responds to the MAC address in order to assign the address.

In your case, the range 169.254 is called the APIPA address and the PC actually assigns to himself because he did not see a response from the DHCP server. As you refer to Wireshark having a reading of the present.

    http://wiki.Wireshark.org/APIPA

The customer may not send the request via this address and get a response because the DHCP server is not listening on the address or by using the range. The answer must be done via the Mac.

  • Not to get the IP address of the DHCP server on the router

Hi, I had a problem in the last two days with my internet Setup. I search the Web and a few problems to be 'similar' with solutions that do not work for me.

I have a PC desktop (Dell 5100) connection to a router Netopia broadband via a cable (Intel Pro/100 VE overcards nic) who does not receive its IP address (192.168.1.x, is that DHCP should be dishing out) since the DHCP service on the router, as it is supposed to. Gets a 169.x.x.x IP address-, in my view, it is a distributed IP address when no DHCP service is. No amount of restarting and reinstalling the cables has helped. I also have an older router which allows to connect via the USB port, who assigns a virtual NETWORK adapter, and that gives me the same result, i.e. 169.x.x.x IP address.

I also have a wireless connection on the Netopia Router that I can connect to with my laptop with no problems - DHCP address is given correctly and I can access the internet.

I tried to manually assign an IP address to my office (192.168.1.5) and I am able to ping the router, but I can't http or telnet to the router's GUI or get on the internet.

I guess the problem is with the office and certain components of the software, but I don't know what. Sorry for this long post, but anyone with ideas.

    Thank you

    Jon

  • cannot get pictures to download from the digital camera

I have a Fuji S1800 and until this week has been able to download photos without problem.  Now the computer shows the "scanner or camera is not connected or is busy" and try again (which does not either).  I have Windows XP.

looking here I have found a solution.  It is maybe I have an SDHC card that the computer can not read.  Before I could download because it was less than 2.0 GB of space, but when I took more photos, it was more than 2.0 GB.  I deleted the photos that I had already downloaded and registered and was then able to download the most recent set of pictures I had taken.

I'll buy a Best Buy card reader to try in the future when the map starts to fill up again.  I hope that this is the solution!

  • TRENDnet wireless card will not get an IP from the DHCP server

I recently installed a Trendnet TEW-423pi/a card in a HP Professional refurbed PC. I quite agree the firmware on the card is wobbly and no update is available. Before I chuck this map I was looking for other suggestions for troubleshooting. The card keeps defaulting to the automatic private ip address structure. I have updated the drivers and looked for updates to the firmware without success. The PC is under Win7 64 bit Business. I installed the device wireless in Trendnet without success. I even assigned a static ip address of one of the many ones open on my router. I tested a card wireless from another machine and it fine configuration.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - 12 H did not get the IP address of the DHCP router via cable

My Vista Premium SP1 laptop is connected via a wireless connection to a modem/router ADSL Buffalo WBMR-G54 model that works very well. However, I tried the other day to connect the NIC via a RJ45 cable to the router and it won't work! I get the message "limited connectivity" and an IP of 169.254.xxx.xxx that suggests he does not get an IP address from the router.

I was on various websites and tried all sorts of things as uncheck ipv6 on the properties of LAN card, put off the power of the DHCP Broadcast flag in the registry (according to the number of micrsoft) etc but nothing works.

Anyone have any suggestions to make it work?

Good so recently on my laptop of his fathers has ' key stopped working and now he cannot get on his laptop because the password has a S in there. He tried to clean the key to bored all possible ways, and nothing works. He wondered if he had a Ctrl function that would allow him to put a s with the key or bypass the password lock. Also, it has no access to a USB keybored.

If the account in question was not the built-in account named Administrator, and then log on to that account and go to control panel > users to change the password.

The password for the administrator built-in account is blank (no password).

To connect to the built-in Administrator account:

Reboot safe mode: press F8 immediately after power on.  The administrator account is displayed on the homescreen mode without failure.

Check if you have webmail access if your e-mail provider offers this option.

If it works, check that your antivirus software is not messy things up.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Also, check with your email provider that they have not changed their settings for accounts.

If it's just the Inbox that has problems, then try to compact and repair the database of WinMail see also www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/)
