Hello, the volume mixer icon is missing from my taskbar, can someone direct me as to how to get it back?

Hello

Click with the right button on the taskbar, click Properties. Go to the notification tab and check again the line for the volume here icon.

If it is not available, you may need to reinstall the drivers from your sound card or see the following page for an easy solution:http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/notification-area-icons-missing-in-vista/

  • my sound icon is missing from the taskbar. How can I get that back

I let someone use my computer and now my sound has diappeared from my taskbar icon.  How can I restore it?

Control Panel > sounds etc. > make sure 'Place icon in taskbar/Systray' (or similar) is checked. If it is already so the next step is:

Right click on desktop > Explorer > tools > file options > view > make sure that "Show the hidden files and folders" is checked > in the left pane of the Explorer, go to the c:\windows\system32\dllcache and locate the sndvol23.exe file > copy then paste it here to the c:\windows\system32 folder, overwriting the existing one if asked.

If you do not ddlcache, you will need to get out of your XP CD and put it in your car without that it doesn't start.

Start > run > type msconfig.exe > hit enter or click on OK > click on extract a file > then fill as follows / top box - sndvol32.exe > middle box - click on the arrow and select your CD/DVD drive > lower box - c:\windows\system32 > extract > crush if requested, then OK your way back. > re-boot.

    See you soon,.

  • The volume control icon has disappered from the taskbar.

A few days ago, I turned on my pc and found the volume control icon that is normally displayed on the taskbar background, had dissappeared?  I explored all the options (icons hidden etc.), but the icon does not exist anywhere.  Can you help me?

Click on the link below. Enter your number of product as that indicated on the Service tag on the bottom of the laptop (can be under the battery). You can also get the product number by pressing Fn + ESC key. After you enter the PN, click Next, then choose the software & Drivers. On the next page use the menu drop down to select your (probably Windows 7 64-bit) operating system. A list will fill with the drivers. Download & Intall the latest Audio driver. Reboot the laptop and check the results.

You see the disk cleanup option if you click on Start -> all programs -> Accessories -> System Tools?

Search not finding the disk cleanup option could be because of some problems with the search parameters in your computer. Here is an article that has a list of things to try in such a scenario, good reading and try things out there. After the back if you still need help.

  • Program volume control missing from the taskbar.

MY VOLUMN CONTROL ICON IS MISSING FROM THE TOOLBAR. I TRIED TO CHECK THE BOX IN THE CONTROL PANEL, BUT IT'S ME GIVES AN ERROR MESSAGE "YOUR VOLUME CONTROL PROGRAM IS NOT INSTALLED" I FIXED USING XP DISCS, BUT IT IS NOT YET HERE. THIS IS PART OF THE OPERATING SYSTEM. I HAD ALSO LOST MY CALCULATOR AND GAMES. I HAVE RE-INSTALLED CALCULATOR AND ACCESSORIES SINCE THE ORIGINAL DISC GAMES ARE BACK BUT STILL NO VOLUMN CONTROL.  ANYONE KNOW WHAT THEN?

The sndvol32.exe file is one of 3498 files that are monitored by the Windows File Protection System (if it works).

Assuming that your volume control was previously working and you have uninstalled not really things...

Even if you manually delete c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe, Windows File Protection should quickly and silently substitute a backup copy and put a message similar to the following in the XP system event log:

    Event type: Information

    Event source: Windows File Protection

    Date: 16/06/2010

    Time: 11:57:49

    Description:

File replacement was attempted on the protected system file c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe. This file was restored to the original version to maintain system stability. The file version of the system file is 5.1.2600.0.

See the date and time of this event?  I just deleted my file sndvol32.exe moments, and it is replaced almost instantly (no necessary CD in XP), so so he could go "missing" in the c:\windows\system32 folder and it must be replaced would require an effort unless something is wrong (which it probably is).  You can only delete even on purpose.

Calc.exe is similarly - it requires some effort or other malfunction so he could come in fact really missing which means that something is not somewhere - if it worked before.

Why don't search you your system for the file and see if it is in c:\windows\system32 or not.  If it's not and it worked before, you have another problem or something is wrong.

Before you try to replace the file that should never be missed in the first place, you must first of all decent scanner for malware (since this problem with the sound control panel is such a common condition of malware),then when the scans are complete and clean, difficulty of problems.

Do a few scans for malware, then when it's over difficult problems:
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
