Vostro 200 Mini-Tower desktop processor speed limit!

1. I would like to increase its speed of 1.6 Ghz at least 3.0 Ghz processor. Is it possible & how I can do?

2. while I'm there I have to replace or change anything else, the size of the RAM for example?

Thank you

The Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33 GHz 6 M L2 Cache processor should work fine, in 200 Vostro with the Version of the BIOS, already mentioned in my post.

Considers that for Quad-Core Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor, 3 GHz, 12 MB L2 Cache, it will not work with the motherboard installed in your Vostro 200, for a compatible Core 2 Quad, a card mother G33M03 and a 350w PSU is necessary, I believe that your motherboard is the version with a power supply 300w G33M02.

The power supply could be good, it is best to test with a unit of work "known."

My thoughts are, interestingly, spend the money on a 9 +-system years?

    But you can buy a motherboard Dell refurbished/used OEM for $24.99 + S & H from here:

Hello, I just want to ask if my office compatitble with graphics PowerColor Radeon HD 6450?

Yes. The 6450 has low power requirements and in fact I have one installed in my Vostro 220 s Slim Tower, which has a power supply even lower than that of your mid-turn.

For what it's worth, I had a 6450 working in a mini-ITX with 220-watt power supply. I had no problems with stability.

  • Upgrade processor or motherboard on Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower

I have a Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower, and the vehicle currently has Intel Pentium E6500 processor. I would like to move on to something better, because my current processor does not meet the minimum requirements of some games I want to play. I was wondering what processor I could update? I know that the new processor has to adapt to the taking of the motherboard, but I don't know how to find out what socket has my current motherboard, or even what motherboard it is.

I would also like to know, if I upgrade the processor, but instead get a new motherboard, can't I get a motherboard and plug and it will come with a new processor, or he will have to adapt my current processor? Upgrading the motherboard makes much difference to the speed of CPU if I don't actually pass the processor?

I am running Windows SP3 & DirectX 11, with 4 GB of RAM, and I also have an ATI Radeon 5670 HD graphics card and a power of 300W.

I have to get a new power supply if I upgraded the motherboard or processor?

  • Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower - for SSD Samsung 850 Evo BIOS settings

Hi - I am looking to replace the HARD drive in my Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower with a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.  I am running the BIOS 1.0.16 and do not see the option AHCI, RAID or IDE only.  Should what BIOS settings I use to optimize the performance of an SSD benefits?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I could get my SSD working under RAID (10 Windows) with the following steps (which some may not be necessary).

    1. MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable 9 CD to clone a copy of the existing for the Samsung SSD HDD (Samsung data migration tool did not acknowledge the Samsung SSD on Windows 10, even though Device Manager it identified as such).  It took nearly 36 hours to clone froma 160 GB 250 GB HDD to the SSD.
    2. Replace HDD with SSD and it started / worked as an IDE drive.  TRIM has been activated and works.
    3. Apply the hotfix to the register noted in the first post of this thread (it may or may not be necessary):
      1. http://forums.HEXUS.NET/motherboards/112584-how-enable-AHCI-RAID-mode-without-reinstalling-Windows-P35-ICH9-ICH9R.html
    4. Downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.5.0.1017 A00 (which is appropriate for the Vostro 200 Slim Tower) from the Dell Web site and run the extracted exe file on the disk.
    5. Opens the folder where the drivers have been extracted and made a right click > install iaahci.inf and iastor.inf files.
    6. Restarted the PC, went into the BIOS and changed the IDE in RAID mode.
    7. When the system is booted, I received the message "Inaccessible Boot Device", so I let the system automatically restarts, go through the automatic recovery/repair options, then follow the guests to launch the advanced Windows options recovery to start in safe mode.
    8. Once in safe mode, I opened the Device Manager, which now showed the following new features:
      1. Disc players

        1. SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 500G
      2. Storage controllers
        1. Intel(r) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller
        2. Microsoft storage controller
    9. The system is then able to start and be used normally.
    10. There are still problems with the Samsung Wizard software, but it seems that it is a matter of Samsung.

Hope this is useful to someone.

    Lonetrapper

This is false, as a greater power supply and can be installed.

Generic standard ATX power supplies, with a 24-pin or 20 + power connector 4 - pin main motherboard, with or without the on/off switch, would be compatible with the Vostro 220 Mini-Tower.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Need a power supply with four SATA power connectors.

  • HIS HD 4670 Itceq in Mini-Tower Vostro 200?

    Hello

I just bought a Vostro 200 Mini Tower System. It is not the slim version. Should be delivered soon. In any case, I wanted to upgrade the video card. The new HD4670 seems to be a perfect choice for the few non-hardcore games. The supply must be sufficient, there is no need for an additional power connector and the card seems to be low. However, the only 4670 card that is currently available is a model of SOUND that has a cooler Itceq attached. The thing is that, while the card is very short, it is a double-slot cooler design and requires little additional space. Could you get it someone please let me know if there is enough space below the graphics card to a dual-slot video card slot?

Here is a picture of the card itself:

If anyone has any pictures of interiors of Vostro 200, it would be much appreciated.

    rsiboise

Two * beeps * indicate a problem of memory, first try to open the case and remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference, troubleshooting procedures more can be found in the Vostro 200 Mini Tower Troubleshooter HERE. • Vostro 200 desktop computer does not start

Hi all, our company has an old desk, Vostro 200, which works very well for a few years.  A day after the cleaning, the machine does not start with the amber light.  Fans stop, even the power supply fan stops.

    I tried:

    1. using a different power supply, it's the same thing.

    2. using another CPU, it's the same thing.

After I unplug power 4 pin for the processor, fans start working and it seems normal but show nothing.

I also tried out the case from the jury and put it back, in order to avoid any shortened with the case.  It does not work.

What is the failure of the motherboard? I had a copper shortcut or circuit on the map?

Although it is an old computer, but we do not produce a bin with other parts in good condition.

    Thank you.

One last thing is the license Windows XP OEM's sucks it as well as the motherboard has failed because the license is listed in the BIOS?  Thank you.

    CECTT

    Thanks Bev

    1. After spending the Green and black cables, the situation is the same: the fans stop with power of CPU 4 pin; fans of work without power CPU 4 pin.

    2. after disconnecting devices PCI/video /, the situation is the same, still no beep.

    3. after remove the memory, the situation is the same.

After checking the CPU socket, I put that there could be some not vertical pegs.  Is it possible that I folded a few pins so that it didn't?

    Thank you

    CECTT

Yes, it is possible, the processor installed correctly, for more information, go to pages 152 to 155 of the owner's manual, if the LGA 775 is damaged, this may require a motherboard replacement.

    https://www.Amazon.com/Dell-motherboard-Inspiron-systems-compatible/DP/B003CO0WQS

The Vostro 200 was built with two different systemboards.

Motherboards should have engraved on it model number.

If she says G33M02, then it only supports Core 2 Duo processors.

If it says G33M03 then it supports Core 2 Duo and Core 2 quad cores processors.

What are the OEM sSpec numbers and processor that was installed as a replacement?

    http://www.Intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/000005554.html

Have you tried to reinstall the original OEM processor?

In addition, the procedure is usually to Flash the BIOS to the latest version, before the upgrade of the Vostro 200 processor.

  • Upgrade card chart Mini-Tower Dell Vostro 460

Hello everyone. I am completely new to this physical thing of the entire computer, and I would like to help. I am looking to update my current card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 420) chart for my Vostro 460, and I was wondering if someone else had gone through that process or could give me some detailed help. I don't really know a lot of graphics cards, and try to understand those who work with the system I have is a bit confusing.

I realized that I need to improve my diet (currently 350 watts) in order to get a decent graphics card. I was thinking to get this 500 watt a I've seen recommended on another forum-

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817151119&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&aid=10446076&PID=6146836&SID=f6vge9gxnfbi

That will fit in the 460 Vostro mini tower, right? Don't want to buy something and then didn't even hold.

As for the graphics card I want, I'm pretty open with regard to the price range. Basically, I'm trying to run something like Skyrim on higher settings, but I don't need a fool of computer game set in place. Someone here could give me some advice on what I should consider buying?

Just get a GeForce GTX 750 Ti and you won't even have to upgrade from your diet.  They use 60-Watt and GeForce experience will optimize Skyrim on Ultra settings clocked at resolution of 1920 x 1080 with this card.

This one HERE is popular and didn't even need any connection of auxiliary groups of power because of how effective power this new chip is and they run very cool, so you'll have no problem at all heat.
