VPN router to the problem of the ASA

Hello world.

I am doing a VPN between a router and a series of ASA5500 and difficulties.

The router part is 100% correct because it is a daily task, but miss me something on the side of the ASA of the things.

The ASA also has remote via IPsec tunnels clients as you'll see below, so I have to make sure that continues to work!

It is a fairly urgent question. So any help or advice can be provided, it would be very appreciated!

Here is the router part:

Hi Chris

first on the router make this change to littil than u ned to add md5 as hashing whil employees u th in the asa and the router u did not, so the default is sha!

do

crypto ISAKMP policy 1

md5 hash

now on the SAA as I see that there is a problem in nat0 you line l2l tunnel

so that you need to look like:

permit inside_nat0_outbound to access extended list ip 10.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0

You also need a permit for the ipsec traffic, the following command will allow all ipsec traffic if you want to filter traffic not to use this command and use rather ACLs on the external interface, but following that to allow all traffic to your L2L and remote vpn access:

Permitted connection ipsec sysopt

so, please:

clear xlate and reload the ASA then attempt to leave the expmtion NAT new effects

Good luck

  • VPN failover between the ASA

I do a search in the search of the best solution for switching between two ASA and hoped that someone wants to point me in the right direction.

The situation is this, we got:

    -Head Office 2:

Each is equipped with an ASA 5505

    -10 branches

Each is equipped with a 887 integrated services router.

Each is BranchOffice must have a redundant VPN connection at the headquarters of these two, and they all need to use the first person as main and the other in high school. In case of failure, all branches need to use the second connection VPN going the second seat.

In my research, I'm looking for the best possible solution, with faster failover, but have no idea where to start my research.

I hope someone has a good answer for this one.

Thank you very much in advance,

    Kind regards

I do not understand why people continue to use ASA devices for VPN endpoint.  the ASA is NOT designed for complex VPN scenarios.  It is designed for simple scenarios.  In terms of VPN by using comparison, ASA is a person with a basic education while Cisco IOS is like a person with a college degree.

For the scenario, you will be much better using Cisco IOS routers everywhere, where you can implement the GRE/IPSec or DMVPN.  Both cases will be sastify to your needs.

  • Multiple VPN groups on the ASA firewall

I have a remote VPN configured in my ASA firewall with a group of users configured on the external ACS VPN. The group called VPNASA to authenticate via the ACS server and the server ip pool is on the firewall of the SAA. Now, my boss asked me to set up a second VPN group called VPNSALES on the ACS server for the same remote VPN on the ASA firewall. How to configure the firewall for the ASA to accept both the Group and authenticate on the same ACS server? I've never done this before so I need help.

    Thank you very much!

  • Problems with site-to-site vpn with of the asa 2

I tried different ways so that this works, but failed. After 8 hours, I literally have a bad headache and have to step away for a minute.  I realize I need to ping between the tunnels mentioned, but still can not to. can someone take a look and tell me where I have gone wrong?  Im trying to configure a site to site vpn between:

    ASA_A

    external interface 5.179.17.66

    inside the interface 10.1.1.1

    ASA B

    external interface 5.81.57.19

    inside the 10.1.2.1 interface

Frist why do you have two DGs on box -

    Route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 5.179.121.65 1

    Route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 5.179.17.65 1

Attach the two end then it should work.

  • Administration of the ASA via IPSec VPN

Recently, I upgraded my ASA5505 8.2.1 7.2 and curiously lost the ability to manage a VPN (via ASDM or SSH) unit. Before the upgrade, I was able to connect via a method without problem through the VPN. Internally, I still have no problem.

The fault on the ASDM client message when I try to connect to remote is "Impossible to launch the 10.x.x.x:4444 Device Manager." If I look at the output of the console mode of information, I see later that there is a "completed by interception TCP Flow' regarding the conversation between ASA and my system remotely.

The config lines are (I've got running on 443 webvpn):

    http server enable 4444

    255.x.x.x http inside 10.x.x.x

    http 192.x.x.x outside 255.x.x.x

The 192 is located the beach DHCP VPN that get VPN clients (and I checked) such that these systems are able to connect to the ASDM or SSH management interface.

Is there another ACL I need to make this work? Not sure why it worked without problem on 7.2 and as soon as I upgraded to 8.2.1, he stopped, without changing the config (manual).

Thanks in advance for the help!

Point VPN network ssh interface inside rather than the outside, should work, while vpn - ssh to the asa inside the ip address of the interface.

    without ssh 192.x.x.x 255.x.x.x outdoors.

    SSH 192.x.x.x 255.x.x.x inside.

  • ASA VPN routing

Hi all. I have an asa 5510 connected to a switch 3750 with RIP, routing between the two devices. I have problems passing the VPN subnet via rip to the 3750. I probably do not understand how the routing table is filled on the asa so patient with me. I noticed that the routing table is filled with the VPN subnet, when clients connect. So, for example, I 192.168.1.1/32 client 1 connects to the routing table of asa. I then put static redistribution in place through rip on the asa. However, the 3750 never receives the rip update of the asa. All other channels are exchanged between thin devices. Any suggestions?

Sent by Cisco Support technique Android app

OK good to know that all Saran works fine now for you!

If you want to RIP through the POOL VPN, you must enable IPP on the SAA, would be to inject the pool VPN in the routing of the ASA table, which makes the ASA see it as a static route, and then you move forward on your type of RIP "Redistribute static" process The ASA would pass it along as a well known road of his table.

Believe me, I went through the same thing as you are now, a few years back! It was a pain in the neck but finally had someone who helped me with it! It took me almost 1 month to get help. On the side VPN seem ok, but I couldn't reach my home network. I was told to do what I mentioned at the top.

Regarding the graphics integrated circuits in the network, they seem ok to configure and ask them to do the work for you, but if not well thought to before implementation, you could probably yourself shot in the leg with her on the road. For me before I understood of IGP I very well understand the static. That helped me understand the routing protocols.

    I'm glad you're OK.

    Have a good one Phil

  • ASA at PIX VPN - routing

Hi all, I built a site 2 site between an ASA 5510 and a PIX IPsec tunnel.  The tunnel is up, and most of the time the traffic flow between source and destination LANs as planned. The problem is that we need the ASA to send syslog messages in the VPN tunnel to a syslog on PIX site server.  If I get a router on the ASA website, I ping the site of PIX syslog server.   The following statement is in the ASA:

    Route out of pix.net.addr sub.net.mask next.hop

But in the journal of the ASA, I see messages "Routing failed" for the traffic of the SAA on the syslog server.

April 8, 2010 08:32:01 ASA5510: % ASA-6-110003: routing could not locate the next hop for icmp NP identity Ifc:10.xx.x.xx/0 to inside:172.xx.x.xx/0

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you

    Robert

    Hello

Public IP address of the ASA must be in interesting for this tunnel traffic (since it's the INVESTIGATION period where newspapers are going to be sent from).

Also, the IP address of the syslog server must be in the interesting traffic.

In other words, you should be able to PING from the ASA to syslog (through the tunnel) server.

  • How to get the ASA packets that come in and out on the same interface?

    Hi all

How can I configure the ASA5520 routes the packets that come in and out on the same interface? I ve more than 1 network behind the camera of the SAA. It s separated by internal router. They can communicate with each other.

I've seen it's PIX design problem. She applies to the platform of the ASA?

    Please advice.

    Thank you

This golden rule remains immutable. the only exception is the vpn traffic. ASA for example (or pix v7) would act as a hub for traffic between two rays rediect vpn.

    regarding your question.

    Internet <-->asa <-->1 <-->lan router <-->lan 2

assuming the host to lan 1 to asa as the gateway default, even asa has a static route to the internal router of the point for local network 2, the golden rule will reject this operation.

one solution is to re - configure the dhcp on the LAN 1 scope and make the internal router as the default gateway; and the internal router has the asa as the default gateway.

  • Routing from a 32 to an ASA

    Hello

I move a range of clients from a few old network kit to a new network kit. They have a 24 wide public routed to their old firewall and this range will be moved and routed to the external interface of the ASA for their news. Everything is very simple. But they have a different ASA 5505 that they use for VPN connections that is the intellectual property within that 24, i.e. the external interface is in the network.

They asked me to move the 5505 before 24 is moved. Now I can't road only 32 to the device as it would require a default gateway of return within the same network path. However what I can do, is to introduce another one network 29, configure this with HSRP on routers upstream and change the external IP of the ASA to exist within this new network.

Then I could drive the old 32 IP to the new IP of the interface of the 5505 outside, provising transit.

So far, I feel that this will work because it is only a standard routed range for the firewall outside interface.

The problem is, the VPN that have been set up would work, as I see traffic is expected to reach the device, but the device will answer on the new outside interface IP... I'm guessing that the ASA remote would receive this traffic on the IP source address and VPN connections will fail.

Am I wrong? Please correct me and give me your grain of salt (or two pennys to the United Kingdom). Any help is appreciated, how do I get this to work...

    Thank you

    Hello

So, you ask if you can create a new network link for ASA5505 and the unique host IP route to the ASA with the next hop set to ASA IP address and then use this IP address to a single host for incoming VPN connections?

If yes then it seems to me that it is impossible. To my knowledge there is no way to assign any other address to accept VPN connections or any connection with the SAA itself IF the IP in question is not configured on the interface of the ASAs.

From what you say, it seems that you want to keep the same 24 public IP space even after migration.

Wouldn't the solution in this case, and expand the L2 segment of the device that keeps the door of entry for 24 of the network for the new ASA equipment ASA5505 connecting directly to the network with no connection network (29)?

  • Tips to add a VPN router to my current network configuration

    Dear all

My apologies if the answer to this question already exists, however, I searched in many situations and none seem to match what I'm after.

I currently have an ISP modem/router in Bridge mode connected to a TC of Apple which is my wireless router, I have 2 Express airport connected to this acting as the extensors of the range.  I have a VPN service through the MyPrivate network I activate on the desired device when required and everything works fine.

What I want to do now is to be able to use my AppleTV and burning Amazon via the VPN as well so you need to add a VPN router in the configuration.  I want to finish with 2 wireless networks running together for these devices who need VPN and those who are not.  I don't want to lose the opportunity to extend the network to express it however airport.

If someone could explain to me if this is possible and if so how do I set up the network.

    Thanks in advance

    Mark

Basically you would need a device that supports VPN-passthrough and VLANS for your goals of networking. MyPrivate network, seems to be a VPN SSL, which is a user-server configuration. In other words, you install a client VPN on your Mac and you connect to the VPN network MyPrivate server to establish a VPN tunnel.

Networking two or more "separated", should be using a router that supports VLAN services. Each segment of VIRTUAL local area network, in essence, would be a separate, she either wired or wireless network or a combination of both. This would probably be the 'easiest' part for the installation program.

Now how combining the two would be the question, and I don't know what would be the best way, or even if it is possible.

    A few thoughts:

    • Use a router that supports VLANS. Create at least two VIRTUAL LAN segments. One for Apple TV & Burns, one for Internet access in general. Connect the device to VPN client host on the first segment, and configure for Internet sharing.
    • Download a dedicated VPN network application that supports hosting of third-party VPN clients, like yours. You would still need a router that supports VLAN to provided separate network segments.
    • Hire a consultant network. Let them know what you the goals of networking and ask them to offer potential solutions.
  • Next hop for the static route on the VPN site to site ASA?

    Hi all

I would be grateful if someone could help me with my problem ASA/misunderstanding. I have a VPN site-to site on a SAA. I want to add a floating static route to point to the VPN on the ASA. Note that the traffic in this way is not with in subnets cryptographic ACL that is used to bring up the VPN. This VPN is used only as a backup.

The static route with the next hop add local public address or the remote public address of the VPN? The next break maybe local ASA isp internet facing interface? I intend to do on the ASDM. I'm sorry if it's a simple question but I found no material that explains this?

    Concerning

    Ahh, ok, makes sense.

The next hop should be the next jump to the interface that ends the VPN connection, essentially the same as your Internet connection / outside the next hop interface.

    Example of topology:

    Site B (outside interface - 1.1.1.1) - (next hop: 1.1.1.2) Internet

    The static route must tell:

    outdoor 10.2.2.2 255.255.255.255 1.1.1.2 200

    I hope this helps.

  • Routing problem between the VPN Client and the router's Ethernet device

    Hello

    I have a Cisco 1721 in a test environment.

A net 172.16.0.0/19 simulates the Internet and a net 192.168.1.0/24 simulates the net, the VPN tunnel must go to (intranet).

The net 172.16.0.0 depends on the router 0 FastEthernet, Intranet (VPN) hangs on Ethernet 0.

The configuration was inspired form the sample Configuration

"Configuring the Client VPN Cisco 3.x for Windows to IOS using Local extended authentication"

and the output of the ConfigMaker configuration.

Authentication and logon works. Client receives an IP address from the pool. But there's a routing problem

side of routers. Ping client-side - do not work (the VPN client statistics that count encrypt them packets, but not to decrypt).

Ping the router works too, but decrypt and encrypt customer statistics in VPN packets count progressive

(customer has a correct route and return ICMP packets to the router).

    The question now is:

How to route packets between the Tunnel and an Ethernet device (Ethernet 0)?

conf of the router is attached - hope that's not too...

    Thanks & cordially

    Thomas,

Can't wait to show something that might be there, but I don't see here. You do not have the card encryption applied to one of the interfaces, perhaps it was not copied. Assuming your description you do it, or should it be, applied to the fa0 and you are connected. Try how you ping? Since the router or a device located on E0? If you ping the router, you will need to do an extended ping of E0 to the ip address of the client has been assigned. If your just ping the router without the extension, you will get sales and decrypts that you declare on the client. Have you tried to ping from the client to interface E0? Your default route on the router is pointing to fa0? You have a next hop to affect? You have several NIC on the client pc? Turn off your other network cards to check that you don't have a problem with routing on the client if you have more than one.

I don't know how it is implemented, but if WuickVPN wait a form ping my router, it will not happen. I was never able to ping my router ouside of my ISP network.

There is a way to disable the Ping process and continue with the VPN connection?

QuickVPN try ping on the router via the VPN tunnel to check the connection. It should work without worrying about whether your ISP filters ICMP messages or not. The tunnel is encrypted your ISP won't know what you're doing.

Please post the corresponding on the RV042 VPN log. That is expected to see how far you get.

You have a firewall running on the computer? I think that some firewalls have difficulty with the traffic of ESP.

What is the router that is connected to the computer? How is it that is configured?
