VPN SSL and Windows 7

Hello

I have an ASA with version 7.2. (2) as an SSL - VPN endpoint. After the upgrade of some clients for windows 7 and IE 8.0, we had problems with SSL - VPN. The vpn client begin on the Windows 7 client.

Anyone know what is needed on the ASA and the customers to work with SSL - VPN on Windows 7?

Hello

You must run 2.4 Anyconnect which requires ASA 8.x version

I configured ASA for IPSec VPN via Cisco VPN Client and XP VPN client communications. I can connect successfully with Cisco VPN Client, but I get an error when connecting with the XP client. Debugging said "misconfigured groups and transport/tunneling mode" I know, they use different methods of transport and tunneling, and I think that I have configured both. Take a look at the config.

PS a funny thing - when I connect with client VPN in Windows Server 2003, I have no error. The only difference is that client XP is behind an ADSL router and client server is directly connected to the Internet on one of its public IP of interfaces. NAT in the case of XP can cause problems?

    Hello

For the Cisco VPN client, you would need a tunnel-group name configured on the ASA with a pre-shared key.

    Please see configuration below:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00805734ae.shtml

    or

    http://tinyurl.com/5t67hd

Please see the section of tunnel-group config of the SAA.

There is a tunnel-group called "rtptacvpn" and a pre-shared key associated with it. This group name is used by the VPN Client Group name.

So, you would need a specific tunnel-group name configured with a pre-shared key and use it on the Cisco VPN Client.

Secondly, because you are behind a router ADSL, I'm sure that's configured for NAT. can you please activate NAT - T on your ASA.

    "crypto isakmp nat-traversal.

Thirdly, change the transformation of the value

    raccess 1 set transform-set vpnclienttrans crypto dyn1 dynamic-map

    Let me know the result.

  • Classic question: SSL VPN Client and Vista 64 - bit OS

Material: 64-bit software architecture: Windows Vista Home Cisco Hardware (64-bit): 871w router Cisco Software: base of 12.4 T having a challenge with Windows Vista (64) using the SSL VPN. Use of IE, I can navigate to the url, both using the DNS name and IP address. I do not have a signed certificate, so I get the standard warning screen where you will need to click on the red x to continue. At this point, the progress bar moves for a fraction of a second and it's there. For troubleshooting I tried: - clearing cookies, cache, etc. - add url and IP to the Zone of confidence - reset areas rest default - disabled options window popup and phisher IE7 - off all 3rd party Manager BHO - withdrawal of MacAfee software suite - disable User Control that allowed me to make the sign in page, but after the signature - I had a blank white screen. Then, I downloaded Firefox 3.0 (newer) and tried to connect. After a series of guests to accept and download the certificate, I was able to connect and click on the Start button to start the session. The next little screen came as expected and he chose Java. I received a message that it could not install the Cisco AnyConnect Client's and I had to download it manually. Downloaded and installed the client software. Logging out of the browser and its closure - I could not access the page again. It appeared to hang again with a progress bar. I went to empty cache, cookies, passwords etc in Firefox and reloaded the application. Still, I was able to connect. However, I always received the message that the customer could not install and download manually. For fun, I exported the certificate on the desktop and imported into Internet Explorer. I tried the connection with IE, but he had a similar problem. I was told there was no client IPSEC for OS 64 bit (Vista at startup), but most of the new machines are 64 - bit OS systems. I would appreciate any support. Lucky me, the computer to which it is impossible to connect to the VPN is the home of the CEO of the company. The last person that wants to make him miserable.

Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client is now available for the Windows operating systems, which includes Vista 32 and 64 bit. The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client, Version 2.2 supports SSL and DTLS. It does not support IPSec at the moment.

  • WebVPN and remote vpn, ssl vpn anyconnect

    Hi all

Differences between webvpn and remote vpn, ssl vpn anyconnect
    All require a separate license?

    Thank you

    Hello

The difference between the webvpn and SSL VPN Client is the WebVPN to use SSL/TLS and port

send through a java application to support the application, it also only supports TCP for unicast traffic, no ip address

address is assigned to the customer, and the navigation on the web in the tunnel is made with a SSL

Web-mangle that allows us stuff things in theSSL session.

SSL VPN (Anyconnect) Client is a client of complete tunneling using SSL/TCP, which installs an application on the computer and

envelopes vpn traffic in the ssl session and thus also an assigned ip address has the

tunnel's two-way, not one-way.   It allows for the support of the application on the

tunnel without having to configure a port forward for each application.

AnyConnect is a client of new generation, which has replaced the old vpn client and can be used as long as the IPSEC vpn ssl.

For anyconnect licenses please see the link below:

  • problem with windows 2003 vpn servers. and xp pro clients vpn using bridge nic

I have installed 2 guests windows 2003 on 2 laptops. both are configured with 1 CC of backend and frontend 1 nat/vpn server that has 2 interfaces, a bridge and one configured for host only.

I configure nat on both servers windows 2003 rras and vpn services and have them connected to my local network. they are able to access internet, ping between them and other computers on the network, as well as the host systems on which they run.

the problem is that I am not able to connect to the vpn servers remotely from inside a guest virtual machine. I wanted to try a vpn site-to site between the guests 2 windows 2003, but the operation failed.

I then tested customer to type of a guest virtual computer pro xp vpn server. It is also a failure.

but I discovered that if I initiate a VPN from any one of the host computer system laptop or another computer on the physical network I am able to connect to the vpn servers I have set up.

I wish I could have these laptops to operate normally and

time to time be able to turn on virtual machines with vpn

servers and test as dfs things and replication active directory as if

they were running 2 separate real-world offices. the two laptops have invited Setup for 192.168.0.0 networks with subnet mask 255.255.255.192. each host that it supposed to be running a 1 subnet for the popular virtual machine with the servers vpn/nat connect together the 2 sites.

laptop computers are running xp pro and vista ultimate as the host systems. I'm only using the windows firewall but also tested with them disabled vpn connections. also launches the service ipsec on laptops to secure internal lan traffic, I have also tested with two guests with disabled ipsec.

is there something I'm missing here with the installation of the vmware bridge network?

Oh I forgot to mention, I test using pptp and ms-chap v2

I managed to do work by unchecking the tcp/ip settings and the microsoft file sharing on the bridged NIC resaeau.

now it works very well but who explain to me why it cannot work when you are using the same network as the host card. they all have two different ip addresses and mac addresses. but something seems to be in conflict

  • Cisco VPN Client for Windows 7 and WWAN devices

Does anyone know when Cisco will release a VPN Client for Windows 7 update that supports devices WWAN using NDIS 6.2?

    Thank you

    Dave,

End of the client VPN of life was announced. In my view, it is safe to say that no new features will be introduced.

AnyConnect is the way to go (Alternatively Windows 7's native IKEv2 connection works in IOS).

  • The ASA - Client to use SSL and connections options I have?

We have a large site and have only allowed using IPSEC for all our branch in branch and the user tunnels. We tried SSL years but she limits so we stopped deployment. We must now begin the SSL VPN user and I have a few questions basic ASA.

I have a unused ASA 5510 for tests that currently holds the 8.3.2 on it, Security code more license, 100 SSL VPN peers and 250 total peers of VPN, VLAN max 100, 2 seconds, active/active contexts, 2 proxies of phone CPU and everything else is disabled. We do not intend on using a SSL connection web anywhere (Anyconnect essentials?) and will not use the entire customer VPN SSL which will be hand loaded on machines or downloaded from the ASA and loaded on the computer if possible. I want to know is what version of the current code can install on my ASA without losing my existing SSL VPN 100 peers license and that the Anyconnect customer would be sustained? I've seen talk about premium Anyconnect but do not know its relationsonship. If I improve the ASA of new releases or versions of code my peer SSL VPN license turns into an Anyconnect Premium license?

Any help to get started you in the right direction would be appreciated. I know I can spend days trying to understand Cisco licenses and traps and still get burned in the end with the function or the wrong license. Basically, I want to know what I have to install the end-user complete SSL VPN clients and I have to do with the ASA to provide this functionality with current license / feature set there. I also want to know what the end user should be used because it seems that Anyconnect Secure Mobile is the same if I use all its security features. Example - I am not able to check for firewall/malware etc programs but we currently have a policy in place which does not allow browsing the Internet or access when end users have connections VPN tunnel on our site. That restriction will always be kept if this is possible thanks to the SSL VPN connection also.

    Thank you

    Paul

The SSL VPN client-based license will remain active on your box through Software ASA updates later. AnyConnect Essentials (which you already have) will work with the feature of SSL VPN license.

You would be upgrading to AnyConnect Premium only if you wanted to add features like clientless SSL VPN (purely based on a browser) or other items such as Advanced Endpoint Assessment (AEA). AnyConnect Premium can coexist with Anyconnect Essentials on the SAA even if you can't mix and match licenses Premium and Essentials.

Essential distinction or Premium is mainly directed towards the installation of the ASA. The same AnyConnect Secure Mobility client software (version 3.1 is the latest for Windows and OS X and is quite a nice new version) is used in both cases. Functional additional client plug-ins are things such as the AEA and the NAC 802.1 x. Your group policies based on the SAA as no split tunneling, etc. remain in force.

If you intend to allow clients of mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and Android (a very limited support for the last BTW)) to access your VPN, you will need to add the mobile on the SAA AnyConnect license and install the client from the respective AppStore. Note that Windows Phone and Blackberry don't are not supported as client AnyConnect.

  • G6-2231dx Pavilion: Pavilion g6-2231dx and Windows 10 lack of network connections

Then...  Where are the pilots 10 compatible of Windows for the g6-2231dx Pavilion?  I know that this OS was just launched yesterday, but an excerpt from the developer is available for some time now and any reasonable person would expect a company as big as HP now have their stuff ready for this deployment.

The latest version of the operating system available on the menu drop-down page downloads & drivers of the g6 is Windows 8.1.  While the Realtek PCIe FE ethernet family and drivers Ralink RT3290 WLAN view and proclaim that they are in perfect working order through the Device Manager, or a connection to the local area network or WLAN connection appear when I opened the section "Manage maps" of the network and sharing Center.

I've tried so far to solve the problem of the measures:

Searched in vain for the site of HP compatible drivers, or at least an explanation of why it is not all the drivers available for Windows 10 on my device. By-the-way, there are a lot of dead links on your site.  Did the same to sites Web of Realtek and Mediatek without any result.  Googling has not helped much either.

Downloaded and installed the latest drivers Windows 8.1, after uninstall of each device (as well as the removal of their files in the system directory) of the Device Manager with a reboot between the two attempts, since the HP website as well as websites of card manufacturers.  No results.

Updated drivers for each devices via Device Manager and manually that it points to the directory where I extracted the drivers. No results.

Disabled features, that I had to do to solve the problems with adapters flakey on the latest operating system from Windows to save energy.  No results.

Rolled back drivers through Device Manager.  No results.

Uninstalled devices again, tried and then install the drivers in compatibility mode. No results.

Tried to install the Realtek drivers which claimed to be compatible with Windows 10 that I acquired through the Lenovo Web site. No post no installed errors, but network connections still do not come under the list, while continued to report as work awesomely by Device Manager!

Editing a registry string by a suggestion in another forum support, but for developers of Windows 10 preview who proposed to change the string of 'dela Jacques = 7' where it was previously set at 5, in my situation.  No results.

The state icon of connection in the system status bar always has a big, big, red X through it, when I left click on the icon, if waiting to see at least a list of available wireless networks, it is completely empty, with the exception of the option to turn on or turn off the airplane mode (Yes, I made sure it's off).

It is quite frustrating and I know this isn't quite exclusive fault of HP/Realtek/Mediatek and I'm sure Microsoft has a big had to play in a no-so-finished product, but geeze!  Any help out there?

MInutes after posting here, I found a solution to the problem of another Web site. This solution is relevant to those who have had a VPN software installed on their system during the upgrade of Windows 10. It may be worth a try, even if you don't have a VPN software installed prior to the upgrade. I followed the instructions below and after you remove both registry key and uninstall the DNI_DNE, the network adpaters Protocol (ethernet or wireless) immediately turned on and connected automatically without having to restart the computer.

If you have unsupported software VPN installed on Windows 8.1 when you upgrade, you may experience this problem.  We are currently working on a fix.  To check if that's causing your problem of networking:

    1. Click the Start button, then click command prompt (Admin).

    2. Type the following command in the window and press ENTER:

    3. netcfg - s n

  • This will display a list of network protocols, drivers, and services.  Check if DNI_DNE is listed in the output.  If this is the case, this problem applies to you.

  • If DNI_DNE is present in the same command prompt window, type the following commands to solve the problem:

    Reg delete HKCR\CLSID\ {988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f

    netcfg - v u dni_dne

  • If you receive the error 0 x 80004002 after execution of this correction, or the registry key has not been removed or the key that should be deleted is slightly different.  Open Regedit and navigate to the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ {988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3}.  Delete it if it still exists. If this is not present and you still not received this error, just reply to the post.  We may contact you to help identify the cause of this error.

  • Slight modification of my original posting. Please remove the ' / going ' from the code as it is does not delete the subkeys, only values. So, if you have dni_dne and tried this fix with an error result, please try this again with the following change in the original post:

    reg delete HKCR\CLSID\ {988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /f

  • Problems sending mail in Windows Live Mail (and Windows Mail)

    De :  MarkJ

    Hello

I had a go at some of the solutions I've seen for this problem but have had no luck yet, I wonder if Miss me something?

So, I can receive emails without problem (in Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail), but don't have had no success sending (although I can always send mails when I access my account online).

The fixes I've tried so far are:

-through my account settings and to ensure that they are as indicated by my email provider (I have an ntlworld account). IE POP3 and SMTP settings must be correct.

-then I tried to check the box "my server requires authentication" (did not work)
    - then I tried completely disabling my firewall/anti-anti-virus/e-mail protection (ZoneAlarm) who also worked
    - then I tried to install an update of sorts for Windows Mail (not Live Mail) (found on a Board communities, sorry can't remember which, but it was an official update from microsoft)... and it does not work
-Finally, I tried to install Windows Live Mail... and Yes you guessed it, that does not work either (I also checked the settings etc.)

....... I wonder why things have to be so difficult?

Can someone please tell me where I'm wrong!

This is the error message I get:

To solve the problem of sending (at home) once for all, you need to replace the Server SMTP from Orange to smtp.ntlworld.com. I don't know, what if Orange will allow you to keep your return address of NTL, when sending to Windows Mail. It's worth a try.

  • E3000 resets occasionally wired port when connecting to the VPN PPTP using Windows 7.

I've had an E3000 for a few months now and a couple of times per week that the router loses wired Ethernet connectivity while PPTP VPN connects via Windows 7. The router does not actually resets itself... but darkens light of wired connection, the computer establishing VPN, and connectivity to the router is lost. Within 30 to 45 seconds, the port becomes active, once more, and to establish the VPN connection. I've not seen this on a wireless connection, but I do not often, which may be why. Similarly, I have not seen this on my Vista or XP wired computers using the Windows VPN client... but then again I can't use them often enough to meet the problem.

I see this mostly on my Windows 7 (x 64) SP1, it also appeared pre - SP1, development equipped PC IP6 disabled on the PPTP VPN. And I don't see that on the establishment of a connection... once the connection has been made I can be operational for hours (5/6 or more a day) with no issue.

While this issue causes me all real headaches like this doesn't happen on the connection... I thought someone should know.

    abandoned,

Gave to your suggestion to try, but did nothing to eliminate the problem. The router was already on the version the most recent but re-flashed in any case. I ran 3 days on an old Windows XP machine connected to a different port on the router, I had 3 days to do work, and I've never had the drop on the VPN port. But this morning back on my Windows 7 machine... the port fell during my first attempt... I then had no problem, the rest of the day. Despite her disconnect and reconnect a PPTP VPN a few times more. Go figure.

Let's consider this resolved... as I don't want to lose too much everyones time hassling with something that seems to be minor. Thanks for the help!

The problem when research appears to be an old one recently coming back - many incomplete references are found by simply searching for error codes.   I have NEED of TRUE ANSWERS to how a FIX IT, it seems that microsoft and Norton do like eachother according to many comments in the forums... need real HELP, answers not simplistic playbook... that is to say yes my name is typed correctly... etc etc.    What has recently come cause this problem?   old server patches are not possbile - in order not to go there.    Windows 7 is nice, but there are 32/64-bit and subtle incompatibilities issues that are people.     HELP HELP HELP.

A Server POP3 locking can occur on the server, if you check the messages without leaving sufficient time between the two controls.  A recommended minimum interval is 5 minutes.

I have the same problem - but so far I have not found a solution! My ISP is Tiscali. If I connect & Download emails from my Tiscali account using the PC of my wife (via Windows Live Mail) all right. If I then try (with your PC off) the same thing on my PC (using the same router) I receive messages if I started the 'cold' PC, but when I downloaded the messages, the POP3 server crashes, causing a blockage of POP3. As a result, I can not any more messages (or send) until I turned off the PC and restarted. I tried to set up a completely new user account and also to move all my emails to a safe place, uninstall Windows Live Mail and then re-install, but neither radical movements has solved the problem. I also tried to switch to Thunderbird, but that didn't fix it either. There is obviously something 'beyond' Windows Live Mail which is not challenged after that the last message was received, which causes the POP3 lock. I hope that someone technical who reads this will know where and what it is and we tell how to fix this!

  • Cisco VPN Client with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.   I need to connect to a VPN IPSEC to work.  I tried the current VPN client and after reading the posts in this group, I tried vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.07.0240-k9-BETA.exe.  When I tried to install the beta version, I get the following error message:

Error 28011: Windows 64-bit is not supported by Cisco Systems VPN Client 5.0.07.0240.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Hello

You should download the 64-bit version. vpnclient-winx64-MSI-5.0.07.0240-K9-Beta.exe is the version you tried to install the 32-bit version

    Thank you
