VReplication 6.1 SRM network ports

Hello

I looked around for a new schema for SRM/vReplication showing all the network of the required ports (an updated version of http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1009562).

I couldn't find one so I created one based on the following documents:

(http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2103394)

(http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2087769)

I have a few questions and suggestions:

  1. In the KB articles, there is a reference to the "proxy vCenter system."  Is it the same thing as the PSC?
    1. Isn't, so what is it exactly?
  2. In the KB articles, they refer to "unit of replication", 'replication server', 'Server replication replication unit', 'management of replication server.
    1. I guess that my reading and understanding
      1. 'replication server' is 'replication manager' is ' VReplication Management Server (EFF) ' = brain
      2. "replication machine" = "VReplication Server (VRS) ' = work horse
    2. Can anyone confirm that this is correct?  It will make a difference to this schema.
  3. Suggestions for VMware technical doc writers
    1. Please be consistent with the names of the components.  She gets very confused when there are multiple references to the same component using different terminology

Once I receive confirmation schema is correct, I'll post the final version on the blog as well as the Visio with layers.

Thanks for the help.

    Hello

Are you sure that there is really a network card installed in your machine? On some models, there is a connector, but it is not connected to any network card.

  • Tecra 8100: Don't know if the Network Port Replicator II is working properly

I had a PA3017E-1PRP, i.e. a Network Port Replicator II, for my Tecra 8100. The fact is: I don't know if it works. I plug the computer in and no new material appears. At least the 3Com NETWORK adapter should be recognized, but no sign of life is presented at all.

In addition, the USB ports does not work, but at least, the leds of the watch of the computer there is come from there because they show that battery is charging and the power comes from the DC.

So, how can I check that everything works correctly? The computer is Windows XP SP2 installed, and I installed all the drivers and the support of the utilities (common modules, mobile and other extensions) util Toshiba USA and Toshiba Configfree of Toshiba Asia...

    Hi Toka

I really put t know why you install software mix on your device. In my opinion, you should install European tools and utilities if you live in Europe. But if everything works it is also OK. I just want to make this comment because I don't know if all tools can consort with each other.

As much I know this unit only is not supported for Windows XP Home in Europe. If the US page has mobile extensions for Windows XP Home edition, I assume that it has been tested.

You can use a ports from there or all of them are dead?

  • Failure of XP logon to the W2K3 domain unless that network ports are enabled with already logged on workstation

Fully patched XP laptop computer (Dell D630) cannot connect to a W2K3 domain, unless the network port is swapped with a workstation already on (connected) network.  Time and the computer name are all correct.  The name of the computer is in AD.  Am able to connect to the laptop using the credentials cached (without being connected to the network).  Can then connect to the network and manually map the drives, etc.  User account seems to be ok as well (because I can manually map).

Have never seen this before. What could cause this problem and solve it?  I can't always share network with active PC ports.

  • WLC CISCO - VMWare and additional network ports

    Hello world

Hardware wise, I managed a 8540 and a CISCO 5508 wireless lan controllers, so know around the GUI.

With the release of the VMWare Cisco WLC, it is ideal for a development and test lab environment. However anyone who has used will know it out of the box it does support 2 network cards (one for service and the other for management / data).

    The question:

How to add additional network ports? In VMWare, it's easy, but how do you get the CISCO config to recognize? I have searched the forums and other areas, but can't seem to find someone who did this.

    See you soon

    Christian

    Hello

Yes you are right, you can use only 2 network cards on VmWLC. never tried adding other network cards.

But what you want to do? Is to add a virtual interface on your WLC?

If so, you can configure your VmWare interface as a trunk and then create all your WLC virtual interface by defining the id vlan. Which makes sense for you?

    Thank you

  • RAW server host paths FEX & pin Network Port

    Hello

I have a UCS - B Series chassis with 4 blades M2 B200 2 6124 FI connection with 4 Ports of server at each END.

I wonder if someone can help me understand the BRIGHT paths & FEX "pin"?

Here is a screenshot of the RAW paths for server 1 tab:

From my understanding each blade has two host Ports of FEX (right & left) and PIN to FEX Network Ports (aka Server Ports).  Unlike SAN & LAN pinning I can't understand how to specify the Port of FEX pinning or control his behavior.

The reason why I wonder it is because I was doing a Test Plan execution and pulled the right/1 & left/1 FEX silmultaniously Network Port.  This made me lose connectivity to my server 1 that has been pinned to these ports.  I would have thought the blade would "automatically" fail-to/use the following FEX Network available Port, either right/2, 3/right, right/4 or 2/left, left/3, left/4 but that was not the case.

    Can someone please explain?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Brian

Pinning of the FEX/IOM of the blades is hardcoded by the FEX during initialization. It is not configurable by the user. Pinning is determined during initialization by number connects between the FEX and YEW.

Now when you pull on a link between a FEX and FI we repin never links in case of failure. I'm not surprised that you have lost network connectivity when you pulled all the links. If you re - ack frame after pull you a FEX link will be repin connections, but we do ever automatically. Keep in mind that a re - ack will mean that the blades will have a network failure short while connections are repinned.

With the second generation FI (6248) and the IOM (2208) second generation, you can create a channel of port between the FI and the IOM. In this case if a link fails the traffic will get re - balance between the other links.

    So, to summarize.

GEN 1 material than anything is automatically pinned by the IOM. Failure of a link, we hear that these servers lose the network on this fabric connectivity. A chassis re - ack, the problem will be solved but could cause a short on the other servers network failure

Material of Gen 2 has the ability to make a channel of port between the FI and the IOM. In this case by pulling a cable between the FI and the IOM should not cause a failure of the server network.

    Hope that helps.

  • Why double the network ports on a Mo?

    Hi all

I see that many MB s, especially game and Server MB, now come with double rear network ports.

    How is what is used?

The main use for NIC cluster is in a server/NAS environment. For the internet, it is of no use. Everyone today has a modem/router to connect with a cable or DSL provider and not supported is associated with the map NETWORK and bandwidth, you have with these providers is significantly less than a 1 only Go NIC can offer. It is only when you work in an environment of Server/NAS dual NIC is really advantageous. The speed to get the GB of data from or to the Server/NAS is actually doubled by partnering.

Imagine that you need to send 100 GB of data on the server or NAS. In addition to the rounding errors, it would theoretically take about 14 minutes without balancing the load on the network, by partnering you would achieve 7 minutes in theory. In practice, these numbers will be higher. Teaming makes it possible to use assets in your projects that are stored on a NAS or a server, without dragging down the performance of the system. And of course, the NAS backup is twice as fast.

  • Automate the network port group selection in vsphere replication

Hi, when you use the vsphere replication tool to recover servers in the data center of DR, the tool does not gives option to select network settings. I have to manually add the port groups and turn on the system remotely vcenter. Is it possible to automate this process, when the replication of a major part of the vms ~ 100-150. I would like to know if there is another way to fix the process and avoid the manual load.

I use replication of vsphere device version 5.8

    Thank you

The only way to automate this process is through the Site Recovery Manager.  Automate and orchestrate BC/DR is a big part of the value offered by SRM. The other advantage is the ability to test your recovery plans without disruption of service.

  • Port Replicator HP 3001pr: is it possible to disable a port replicator 3001pr HP network port?

    Hello

In our office, we work with two types of docking stations, which is the HP 3001pr Port Replicator. These work very well, but when an employee moves between the two different types (either during the day or at night) sometimes connection problems occur. I suspect it has to do with the ports of network installed in the docking station.

We only use wireless office connections, we don't need active network on the docking port. Is it possible to turn off these completely or we will disable manually on each laptop?

    Best regards

    @D3velopment,

No, because that when whenever a computer connecting the docking station Gets the configuration of the computer.

Thanks for any help / advice

    Hi etaf,.

I guess the short answer is: Yes, the problem with the software and the 3.0 Port.

The long answer with a possible work around is as follows: first of all, the software looks for minimum requirements. Because the software is older, he doesn't know what a 3.0 port. You are right when you say that it should work since you do not use the USB and use wireless instead, but this is not the case.

There is something we can try, but I can't guarantee it will work. I thought first we could connect a USB cable and run the software made to force the software to see the USB port, but then the software wouldn't even get far enough because you can't plug the cable to the most later in the installation.

My second thought and most promising suggestion is to connect the USB cable (although we do normally not until the software prompts us to) and use the installation wizard HP Print to get the insteaad of software to use the CD or download from the printer driver page. Still, I can't say with certainty that it works, but I don't see why it would not be worth a try.

If it works, and we get the software installed you can convert the USB connection to a wireless connection using the software. Fingers crossed! Download and run the with the following link. Printer HP install wizard for Windows

If this does not work, or you don't want to bother with it (not worth trying), I might consider getting a new model of the printer. You can even call HP. They might be able to offer a discount on a newer model. If you are in the Canada, U.S. dial 800-474-6836 or you can Contact HP worldwide.

Windows 7 professional 64-bit, 16 GB of ram, processor 3.4 mhz.

I read many many posts on this subject.  HOWEVER, I print directly on printers.  HTTP via Cups.  I can load my old XP machine in a virtual machine on windows machine 7 and it prints immediately!  Have already disabled items with netsh int tcp set global chimney = disabled (RSS autotuninglevel thus), bidirectional, coil, firewall, anti-virus, and still the problem persists.

Since it prints fast the same machine with XP and all other users on the network who are still using XP printed correctly.  I know this is Windows 7.  My printer ports are listed as internet ports. (ie: http://myserver:631/imprimantes/printername))  The system is slow if it prints a Ricoh digital, laser, a laser Epson brother or printers matrix okidata.  So I doubt that it is a driver problem.  Hope I gave enough information.  See you soon

  • IPS 4260 sensor - NETWORK ports

The IPS 4260 only comes with 1 port NIC, is what it means he cannot run in promisicious mode and must purchase additional NETWORK card interfaces to run inline?

It comes with a single command and control NICS and NIC monitoring.

Followed NIC can be used for monitoring promiscuity or InLine Vlan pair of surveillance.

With InLine Vlan pair followed you plug changing the port on a switch and do a 2 trunk port VLAN.

The configuration of the sensor inside match you 2 VLANS.

Packets entering Vlan A will be analyzed and passed on Vlan B.

Packets entering Vlan B will be analysed and transmitted on A Vlan.

Then InLine Vlan pairs is like an InLine sensor interface is connected to A Vlan, and the other interface connected to Vlan B; but he is able to do using a single interface.

For the monitoring of traditional InLine Interface pair, yes you will need to purchase an additional NIC

The 4260 supports 3 additional types of network cards: 10/100/1000 TX 1000 SX and 10 Gbps SX.
