vSphere 5.5 kickstart to configure the static IP address

Hello people,

I spent some time trying an involuntary installation works correctly and adding features I want.

Right now I'm trying to run a command after installation and reset to configure a static ip address for the host.

I can say that the configuration file is the application, but does not have the IP address.  Value DHCP when you are finished.

My KS.cfg file, can someone tell what I do wrong?

Thank you, romatlo

# Example scripted installation file

#

# Accept the VMWare end user license agreement

vmaccepteula

# Set the root for the mode DCUI and Technical Support password

rootpw tet_password1

# The installation media is in the CD drive

install firstdisk - overwritevmfs

# Define the DHCP network on the first network adapter

network - bootproto = dhcp - device = vmnic0 - addvmportgroup = 0

reset

firstboot % - interpreter = busybox

# Assign an IP address to the first VMkernel, used for the management

esxcli ip network interface ipv4 set - name = vmk0-= ipv4 interface 192.168.32.15 - mask = 255.255.255.0 - Gateway = 192.168.32.1 - type static = subnet

Memory, don't you must first create a VMkernel interface?

-name of the interface:-i The name of the VMkernel network interface to the IPv4 settings. This name must be an interface in the interface list command.

VSphere Documentation Centre

Ensure that vmk0 is listed when you run

list of network ip interface

In addition, what happens if you install ESXi manually and run this?

# Assign an IP address to the first VMkernel, used for the management

esxcli ip network interface ipv4 set - name = vmk0-= ipv4 interface 192.168.32.15 - mask = 255.255.255.0 - Gateway = 192.168.32.1 - type static = subnet

FYI in my KS.cfg I have this

network - bootproto = - 192.168.250.21 = static ip - gateway = 192.168.250.1 - nameserver = 192.168.250.6 - subnet mask = 255.255.255.0 - hostname = esxi5---.lab.local head = vmnic0 - addvmportgroup = 0

Instead of

network - bootproto = dhcp - device = vmnic0 - addvmportgroup = 0

and

esxcli ip network interface ipv4 set - name = vmk0-= ipv4 interface 192.168.32.15 - mask = 255.255.255.0 - Gateway = 192.168.32.1 - type static = subnet

  • Cannot configure the static IP address for Cisco Touch 8 "

    Hi all

I found that I can not configure the static IP address for Cisco Touch on TC7.0.1 / 7.0.2 with the procedure described below.

    1. upgrade a codec (e.g. SX20 TC6.3 or less) and a touch paired with the codec for TC7.0.2.

    2. after the upgrade, désapparier (with the help of désapparier Touch button) touch and it reboot.

    3. tap on "IP settings."

    4. Select "Manual IP allocation".

    5. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and then press "Save".

Even though we have configured the static IP address with the above procedure, IP allocation remains 'Auto' (= DHCP) and the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway is also empty.

In this situation, the only way to configure the IP address for the Touch is to use the DHCP server.

I guess many users uses the static IP assignment like us, so please fix it as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Best regards

    Kotaro Hashimoto

    Hi Kotaro,

It is a known problem in TC7.0.1 and TC7.0.2. The id of the bug is CSCum82147.

To work around the problem, set IP address you want the button before moving on to TC7.0.x.

The bug has been fixed and will be included in the next version of the TC software.

Probably in the same way as in Windows 7: Control Panel / network connections / network card / properties. If you need a more detailed explanation, it would be best to ask your question in a forum of Windows PE.

I am newbie for vmware, recently, I've converted a windows 2008 virtual domain controller, after the fact, everything works fine on the IP of the DHCP, but after I change the static ip address, I can always ping the IP but the DC lost its functionality and internet does not work.

Hello and welcome to the community

There are a few things to consider in this regard

First of all, it is not a simple task to change the IP address a domain controller, so I don't know what procedure you followed

Just in case, here is the procedure to do so:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc794931 (WS.10) .aspx

Second of all, to virtualize a domain controller also has a specific process that must be followed.

Most of the people prefer to create a new virtual domain controller and move all of the above roles.

Here are two rounds, that you might find useful:

But I wasn't asking questions about a reservation in DHCP I was wondering how to set a static IP address on the TV itself when using the wireless network.

Because you don't want to do it on your router, you must go into your NETWORK settings and wireless to do it on your Android TV... 'Advanced settings' allows you to choose the IP DHCP or static. Once you choose static, you can enter the number that you want to use.

Use the main parameters at the bottom of the home page to see all the options in network. Ability to set the static IP address is here in advanced for each type of connection separately

  • Bind the MAC to the static IP address with WRT54GL router

    Hello

We use the WRT54GL Wireless router to connect 4 pc to internet. One of these pc requires a static IP address, because the router can do only reliable port-forwarding for IP static (I would ssh it and use it as a web server). I was told that this router has this ability, but for the life of me I can't find.

Could someone tell me how to proceed? I am running the latest firmware (v4.30.11).

Thanks in advance for your reply,

    Michiel

DD - WRT is fairly stable and well maintained. There are a lot of people using it and you get excellent support, if you don't mind not very technical responses to opportunities. Generally, the flashing of the firmware does not support the warranty. But that wouldn't be a problem if you have had a bad flash. And even for a bad flash you often have options to recover the router.

For the static IP address on the computer, change the settings of network to the ethernet interface. I do not know Gentoo you should have administration GUI for this somewhere.

You can use the following values:

IP (as mentioned earlier) for instance 192.168.1.10
    subnet mask 255.255.255.0
    address of the gateway 192.168.1.1
    192.168.1.1 DNS server

As long as the static IP addresses do not conflict with the DHCP server address pool create there will be problems running some static IP computers in the same local network with DHCP clients.

  • Changes to the network when the reconfiguration of the DHCP server to the static IP address

I installed new positions of work on my network and had WDS push the image so we have installed DHCP to do this. After all the work stations were Setup, I started to change static IP DHCP on the workstations as we prefer to use static IP addresses.  Some computers work fine, some don't. The problem I have is when changing from a static IP, as active network passes the network of the area to the Public network. However, when it is configured to use DHCP, the active network is the domain network. What am I, I missing which will cause the active networks of change to public networks at the static IP change? I checked the settings ip IP, Subnet, DG and DNS and they seem correct. I tried to withdrawal, join. I tried the update NIC driver. I tried to uninstall the NETWORK adapter and reboot. If anyone has seen this before?

  • Is there a way to specify the static IP address for deployment EGGS in the ovftool command?

    Hello

I'm trying to deploy EGGS using ovftool. I see the option - network and - net available for the selection of the network by name, although I wasn't able to find a way to assign a static IP address in the ovftool command itself. Something like - ip0 = 10.10.10.10. Is there a way we can do that? User interface when we deploy an OVA, we have available to provide IP address, gateway, DNS and network mask.

    Thank you

    Hello, vPupil-

If the ovf/eggs is created to have definable properties, as an IP of the machine, you can use the "-prop ' parameter to ovftool.exe.

By literature ( http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/ovf/ovf20/ovftool_201_userguide.pdf), is the syntax to set a property:

    --prop:

It is near the bottom of page 24, as well as an example.

To see if the ovf/eggs that you are using has configurable options, you can use ovftool.exe in mode "probe" (page 25).  Just issue the command with only one source, no target, as such:

    > ovftool.exe myAppliance.ovf

This should generate the results of the probe, which should list all configurable properties, including their 'key '.  This key is what you use with the "-prop" parameter.  In the example of probe on pages 25-26, the FVO has two properties, 'db - ip' and 'ws - ip ".  Then you should be able to specify values for these properties by adding the following to your ovftool order:

    ... --prop:db-ip=10.10.10.10 --prop:ws-ip=10.10.10.11 ...

    How does do for you?

  • Script to set the static Mac address

I have an Infrastructure virtual with about 200 vm with several vNIC and automatic Mac address. I need to assign static Mac for all NICs for and want to perform this operation with a powershell script and a csv input file. I have the entry csv file that looks like this: Vm, portgroup Mac Vm1 00:11:22:33 Vm1, pg1, pg2, 00:11:22:44 Vm2, pg1, 00:11:44:44 (I know the Mac above are not valid) can anyone help with the powershell code to automate the static configuration of mac?  Thanks in advance

    Hello, ITS.

You should be able to use the following to achieve:

    ## import the info from the CSV$colNICInfo = Import-Csv c:\vmNICInfo.csv$colNICInfo | %{ $oSingleNICInfo = $_ ## get the VM, get its NetworkAdapters and for the one whose NetworkName matches that from the CSV, set its MAC address Get-VM $oSingleNICInfo.VMName | Get-NetworkAdapter | ?{$_.NetworkName -eq $oSingleNICInfo.NetwkName} | Set-NetworkAdapter -MacAddress $oSingleNICInfo.MACAddr -Confirm:$false -WhatIf} ## end foreach-object

    A few things to note:

    • I left the '-WhatIf "parameter on the Set-NetworkAdapter portion, so that you can run this first (perhaps with a small sample of game in the CSV file) to check that things look like they will work.  Remove this parameter to set the MAC addresses
    • The code provides that the CSV of this format:
      MACAddr VMName, NetwkName,
      someVM, VLAN128, 00:50:56:00:00:0F
    • The cmdlet Set-NetworkAdapter requires the new MAC address in the range 00:50:56:00:00:00 - 00:50:56:3F:FF:FF.  It's not the range likely to use, VMware only a subset.  Seems to be a limitation of the cmdlet (probably intentional).

Message edited by mattboren: added a note about removing "-WhatIf" to actually set the MAC addresses of the network adapters

  • Entered in the wrong the static IP address and now can't come back. suggestions?

Running Windows7 and try to set an IP address for printer HP 6700 wireless.  It has been 192.168.2.108; I changed it to 192.186.2.250 (implementing the 8 & 6).  So, I restarted the router.  The HP update IP address utility found the new address, I "removed" the old printer and "reinstalled".

However, it does not print and I can't return to the print server using either the old or new IP addresses.  The print dialogue box indicates that he sent the information to the printer, but opens an error HP screen and says he is unable to communicate with the printer.  I also downloaded and executed the request of the physician HP; did not help to solve the problem.

I went to the Linksys WRT100 router but can't see anywhere I can control the HP printer.  Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hi Bob,

You cannot access your printer because the configuration of an IP address that is not on your network.  Beaches of normal IP address on routers are 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.255.255.

You need to restore the default values for your printer to correct the IP address.  It should be done either cold Reset / Hard Reset/NVRAM reset your printer available online.  Sometimes the default values of restoration of the menus of the control panel will allow you to reset the IP address also.  After that reboot is performed the printer must be on your network home and accessible again.

Let us know if you need the exact steps.

Mysteriously, this was probably necessary for the connections to stay together long enough to get friendly.

I have reset some things on the ATT, plugged and unplugged modem ethernet cable, obtained on other issues, I have to solve... and, Lo and behold, the LCD screen on the front of the printer has started to display the IP address.

  • Assign the static IP address by ISE, ASA VPN clients

We will integrate the remote access ASA VPN service with a new 1.2 ISE.

Authentication is performed in Active directory. After authentication, can address assigned to a specific user of VPN by ISE IP?

This means that the same VPN user will always get the same IP address. Thank you.

    Daniel,

You can override the IETF-RADIUS-Framed-IP-Address in the authorization policy.

However if I may make a suggestion:

Unless you have only a handful of users to do so, it may be appropriate to assign the address of ISE pool or perform the mapping of LDAP attributes on ASA itself.

In the latter case, the IP addresses are kept on the server as LDAP attributes and ASA will map the IP address. You don't want to keep address IP DB in several places.
