We have two 6500 & try to create VSS for this.
Here are the configurations on both switches;

Once VSS working individual ports line te3/4 would be 1 1/3/4 to 1 3 to blade 3 and 4 switch is the port.
2 switch the same port will also be 2 2/3/4 to 2 3 to blade 3 and 4 switch is the port.

Could someone suggest if I use a lot of running etherchannel configuration between my access (4500) and DS (6500) can create any problem to etherchannnel. In my environment, I am experiecing my interfaces of contactors provided access down and we must manually reconnect the cable up to the etherchannel bundle.
Y at - it an oversubscription happenning in my 6500 chasis causing the bundle down the State. Newspapers at the time the end suggest that for the components of the interface.

Oversubscription can happen at the ASIC level and line card, but I don't think that anything to do with the problem whereby what is oversubscription has confronted your switch.
With regard to the excess requests, here is an example
WS - X 6724-SFP
Port ranges by port group: 1-12, 13-24
01:12 oversubscription rate (an ASIC each 12 ports)
Look at this link for more information on excess requests in each module.
VSS support up to 512 Etherchannels combined the total amout of the regular etherchannels and GUY.

Windows Installer + VSS + Windows problems in Windows 7 SP1 Activation
I used this Windows 7 machine for 5 years now and has recently encountered several problems, which probably are closely linked:
1. Windows installation problem
Can't update programs, although new install if they do need Windows Installer to do. Most but not all Windows not updates install.2. the problem of volume shadow copy Service
Failed to create system restore points. With VSS errors appear when I try to do. No previous restore point is available.
3. Activation of Windows problem
A pop up keeps appearing every 1 or 2 hours, saying that my computer is not running genuine Windows. Obviously nonsense since this PC was bought during the original Service Pack 1 of Windows 7 and I've never had a problem before.I searched a lot online to solve all these problems. I tried hundreds of possible solutions, but nothing has worked. I think that it is all caused by the same thing, but I am unable to find it.
Ready to provide more information. Thanks in advance.
(PS: my camera has a pre installed Windows 7 so I own not a Windows DVD, don't want to reinstall the OS, prefer to try to find the cause of the mess)
Do you have same problems if you create a new user account?
What Antivirus utility you installed?
Have you installed a new hardware or software or both since you started these problems?
Could you describe some of the thing things you've tried?
Start by checking your hard disk for errors:

When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

1. What is the full error message that you receive?
2. When you save the backup files?
3. What is the complete space free on the disc were you save the backup files?
4. What is the issue you have with the Windows updates?
Method 1
Most likely, your system reserved partition is running out of space. You can check the free space on the volume? Please follow the following steps:
(a) start-> computer-> right click--> Manage
(b) select storage-> disk management.
(c) make sure that you have a reserved size of 100 MB system partition.
(d) if so, right-click on the volume and select Properties.
(e) discovers the used and free space.
Method 2 check and ensure that the shadow copy of Volume and SPP service service is started on the computer to restart the shadow copy of Volume and SPP services service you must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.
(a) open administrative tools by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative Tools.
(b) double click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
(c) if the SPP function is disabled, double-click it to open the service properties.
(d) if the shadow copy volume service is double-click on it to open the service properties
(e) click the list Startup type , click Automatic, and then click apply.
(f) under Service status, click Start.

System Restore error 0 x 80042315... Help!
I had some computer problems so I thought I would try a system restore. Then, I had (and continue to receive) a message that says "no restore points were created on your computer's system disk. To create a restore point open System Protection.
I do it. However, when I click on 'create' I get an error window that says:
The restore point could not be created for the following reason:

I first suggest you to check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is running.
1. click on Start, type Services in start search. When the page is open, find shadow copy Volume service.
2. right click on the Volume Shadow Copy service (VSS) and check whether it is started.
3. If it is stopped, select Start or restart.
Check if you can try to create restore points after starting the service

Original title: cannot backup Windows 7 system.
When I try to back up the system or create the image of the system I get the following message, the error was detected in the Volumn Service VSS (Shadow Copy) the problem occurred while trying to connect with the VSS writers. Verify that the event system Service and the VSS service are running and look for errors related to event logs. (0 x 80042318).

Problems with VSS and RoboHelp on the second machine
Hi all
We chose to use Visual Source Safe as our source for use with RoboHelp control tool. To build the VSS database that contains the project to help on the server, we used the version of our aid project successfully on my machine. I got no problem with it for several weeks. Everything works beautifully. Files are collected, verified and checked back with no problem.
The problem is that we have been unable to someone else have been correctly set up on the team upward with the RoboHelp VSS source control. Given that we do not build the database from scratch, the way we did with mine, we try to 'get' the version of VSS on the server and place it on his machine. I guess this is the way to do it, but we don't know how. When we try to get the version in the source code control, only the top level of subject .htm are recovered, and not anything that is nested in children. Then, when attempting to open the project help on his machine, we get all sorts of errors going to "corrupt .cpd" files to 'caractΦres' to "the local version is different from the source control version" (DUH!). We say to her to get the files in RoboHelp, when we try to open the project assistance to his C drive, but it's not download them properly, and invariably RoboHelp breaks down.
Anyone who has successfully used VSS with RoboHelp, and if so, how do you get a new computer with an existing RoboHelp project, which is already in VSS? I need the measurements, if possible, because it is not intuitive (or since we are just clueless).
I really appreciate any help anyone can offer!

Getting the initial copy of source control can be tedious, but not hard.
Most likely, you have only the folder level higher because the "recurse" (or "recursive", I don't remember off the top of my head) check box has not been checked in vs. -

Everything seems to work with 2970 and data are certainly going through. I'm Telnet via connection and servers are connected.
3500xl watch interfaces are in decline and spanning tree protocols in State of block. I know the etherchannel works but the 3500 says that everything is down. Any help would be appreciated.

That you have connected only 1 port so have u deleted the config port-port group on 3500xl 48. If you have so and yet shpwing down, then I tell stop you doen the port manually and do not close.

All work of things right last day, now I've lost the network connectivity of virtual machines, but I can access ESXi host using VCenter, it shows me there is no virtual machine in "Virtual Machine Port Group.

If you take a look at a quick glance to the UpdatePortGroup() method, you will see that it accepts a HostPortGroupSpec that you do not set, there are also 4 required parameters and you have only 3 set.
I just created a quick example code that does this, take a look here's a running example:

Port-channel problem: SP-5-CANNOT_BUNDLE_LACP
I'm having a problem with the upcoming port-channel. Right now it is "down down". I don't really know why. All channels on the 6500's in VSS port works fine. This one seems to be giving me one question though.
-The two interfaces that use this port channel are "up up".
-J' did "shut, of no closure" on all involved interfaces.

What is at the other end of the port-channel? It seems that article gi1/1/4 is the aerator with the end of the negotiation and enter a reception "on" State, while IG2/1/4 is not. They both require to be in the same State to form a beam. You can check the status with sh flowcontrol item in gi1/1/4 int for example.
I would like to either watch to change the config on the other side or define flowcontrol get discount on the two switchports local.

Cisco 6500's inside the VSS Configuration. Port ID's channel

I have a pair of 6500's Setup with VSS and there is currently only one link between then. However, one end of the link is Po10 and the other end is on Po25. If I move the Po10 Po25, things will break? It seems to work fine now. I am about to add a second link and I am concerned about the current configuration. It makes more sense for me to have the two ends of the same binding on the same port channel ID. I have seen documentation that States otherwise however.

Hello
It doesn't make a difference if you do both sides with the same channel id or not. The ID of the port channel is a logical interface that does not impact on the etherchannel between them at all. So, you can leave one side Po10 and other like Po25 without problem. Just make sure you have at least one member of the Portchannel Active physical interfaces for not losing your connection to VSS.

Backups - VSS multiple backups Windows Server 2011
I work with a SBS 2011 and my question is the performance of different backups on the same server.
Currently, we use the native or built in the backup that comes with server 2011. This backup, backup on a USB external drive. He worked for almost a month now without only minor problems at the beginning which have cleared up after that we set up an update for server 2011. The owner join a backup stored in the cloud. I spoke to two different companies and have decided on one. Speak to a sales engineer and to discuss their backup which is a VSS backup, I asked them if there is a problem or a conflict since both were VSS engines. Their response was 'both together do no running at the same time or overlap' we should be OK.
They seem to think that it would be very nice. Also asked questions about the use of their software to backup to a local drive, and then to the cloud, they indicated that we buy camera ERA which was expensive.
I greatly appreciate another opinion on this subject. Two separate backups can run on a server the two using VSS?

I have a server running on a Windows 2008 R2 server DPM 2010
Currently save a mix of virtual and physical machines, these are a mix of Windows Server 2003 SP2, 2008 & 2008 R2.
The DPM was previously a bit crumbly, but it was supposed to be caused by lack of disk space. A QNAP server was introduced and configured as an iSCSI target. After the initial problems, it works now.
EXCEPT
Three volumes of backup not. They were part of the protection group but they had no point of recovery at all. I deleted their protection groups and have tried to add them to their original groups. These 3 volumes all fail with the following error message:
An unexpected error occurred on the DPM server machine during a VSS operation.
Error details: VssError:Shadow copy the specified volume only is not supported. (0x8004230C)
3 volumes are on 3 different servers.
All 3 servers are running Windows 2003 SP2
3 servers have other volumes that are save successfully and consistantly
There are an additional 3 servers Windows 2003 SP2 that all volumes save successfully and consistantly.
I can run shadow copies on these three volumes on servers
All servers run the latest DPM Agents
3 volumes have unused production capacities, Gig instead of Mb
The pool of storage on the DPM server has two disks in the storage pool, the local disk has 10 TB of capacity and 45% free, the iSCSI target has capacity to 55 and 78% free.
There are no. VSS errors in system or application logs (or I've noticed in just about any other log file) on the DPM server or the customer Server
I have tried to add in the protection group, 3 volumes at once, one at a time or a small directory, or create a new protection group and still get the same errors.
I ran the Windows updates on these servers
So far all I can say the disk permissions look OK and match those of the other volumes of work.
I know that having two drives in the storage pool is not ideal, and it will be changed but not up to what I have fixed the problems on the three volumes.
