  When I reboot to get to the bios screen my keyboard does become functional until windows load. I don't remember what is a problem in the past, but since I disconnected everything recently I was wondering if it happens to be a USB port which remains hot during startup.  I have a Gigabyte motherboard.

  Thanks for all the help.  I found a port that remained hot during startup.  Not an easy feat because there are 6 USB ports on my MB.  Then after may restart to finally find, I remembered that I have also 2 USB ports on my Dell monitor that remain hot even when the computer is off.  A lesson I will never forget.

  I am running Win 7 Home Prem x 64 on my i7-720QM Y550P and if I move my mouse pointer using my trackpad and I type a letter, there is an offset second half before my trackpad responds again. This is a really annoying and unwanted feature.

  My friend had the white 14 "Ideapad Y460, and it doesn't have this problem.

  If by "I got my laptop to format", you mean you have reinstalled Windows and the problem persists, it is probably a hardware problem. If you have a keyboard that can be plugged into your laptop, there the same problem?

  I have this same problem with my e9150t and would be interested in the answer.  Normally my sound out through my HP 2159 m monitor via HDMI cable.  However, when I plug in the headphones, the sound continues to come out on stage monitors and I have no sound on the headphones.

  Symptoms: Booted computer, loaded the raid drivers and showed at the start screen XP for half a second then to BSOD with a Stop error Code 0x0000007E - see also a lot of users (0xC0000001D, 0 x-, etc.) as well.

  Solution:

  1 boot from your Windows XP CD and start the recovery console. You may need to press F6 while RC loads in order to load the SATA drivers. you will have a prompt c:\WINDOWS to the console.

  2. type: CD $NtUninstallKB977165$ \spuninst (it's the update, I had to uninstall to get out of the boot loop, other updates can be uninstalled by changing the name of the directory to $NtUninstallKBCODE$, where KBCODE is the code KB)

  3. type: BATCH spuninst.txt

  4. type: exit

  Don't forget to configure your system to boot from the HD before resuming. I hope this helps. Saved me a lot of hassle today.

  When you try to search it's inside Windows or Internet explore?
  When is this last work fine?
  You did changes to the computer?
  Has it worked before, then you can try to run the system restore and check if that helps

  There is no updates yesterday in itself, because I have them on my PC (I hate the 2nd Tuesday of the month because I run around the House like a crazy woman by ensuring that 1 Vista 64-bit, 2 Server 2008 R2 64-bit, 2 Windows 7 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit 4 are all downloading correctly and restart if necessary.)
