W520 light by fingerprint reader

I just got a new ThinkPad W520 to replace my W510 and notice that I can't turn on with the fingerprint reader. My mark leads W510 is green when I opened the lid and not lit the W520. I can log on to Windows by using the fingerprint on the W520 reader but I have to turn on the power button. I compared the parameters between the two ThinkPads, and they seem to be the same. I have installed all the latest drivers and software for the W520, including the latest version of the BIOS. Any help would be appreciated.

You must install Thinkvantage Fingerprint Software and go to settings. There you can define market of fingerprints in the safety market.

  • Portege R500 - fingerprint reader and SD card reader does not work

    Hello

I hope someone can help me.

I bought an opportunity Portege R500 (the warranty is still available until 12/2010) and set up with Windows 7 Home Premium.

I installed all the drivers for Windows 7 from the specific model support page. Driver Vista have been installed for all drivers, which are not available in Windows 7.

If everything works fine, except the fingerprint reader and the sd card slot.

Fingerprints: I tried al a lot of drivers, even that of the R600 and R700 (such as proposed by someone here in the forum). When I run the Toshiba fingerprint utility, a text box tells me, that there is no connection with the sensor. Authentc software does not work either.

SD card reader: I tried several SD cards from a card SD 2 GB simple and old (but functional) Kingston. According to the Director of devicce, the driver is correctly installed and running.
The blue icon next to wireless light turns on and after a "long", a message box appears and asks me to format the card. It takes a little longer and then I get the massage, the card cannot be formatted. I tried the same procedure with a SDHC card 4 GB and a Micro SDHC card in a SD card adapter. Then of course the cards are identified but not usable and formatted.

There are several reports of other users of the internet, the locations of sd card in computer models laptops different toshiba have problems under Windows 7.

The two problems have emerged as well under Vista. My hope was, this upgrade to Win 7 solve poverty. Unfortunately remain the problems of th I have Win 7.

    Thanks in advance,

Tip; BIOS update and setting BIOS by default (with F9) can solve many problems... it's worth a try...

By the way; Win 7 is able to update the drivers automatically. I recommend that you run an update in Device Manager and let windows search for the update.

I ve got another laptop and installed Win 7 as well. The card reader Vista driver has worked for me on Win 7 OS just a tip

  • Qosmio X 500 - 11 d: Fingerprint reader question and webcam problem

    Hello

I am the owner of a portable X 500 - 11 d of Qosmio computer and I ran into a few problems these last time:

    1. After installing windows 7, the fingerprint reader has worked flawlessly for about a month, but now the login screen of windows 7 not poster not the option to connect with the fingerprint and when I try to start the utility of fingerprint toshiba it gives an error could not connect to the sensor.

The strange thing is that I can't find the finger print sensos under Device Manager. Windows just does not detect it. I tried to reinstall the drivers and software, I've updated the bios but nothing works.

    2. the camera on the laptop, it is installed properly (the said driver is ok) but when you use the image is all black. I should mention that the blue light turns on when you use the camera.

I tried to find a solution to the fingerprint issue o the forum here, but nothing has been using, hope someone knows how to solve.

    > The strange thing is under the Device Manager I don't think the impression sensos finger; Windows just does not detect it. I tried to reinstall the drivers and software, I've updated the bios but nothing works.

    Well, I m sure this laptop model X 500 - 11 d supports the fingerprint sensor.
Please set the BIOS to default settings and check if there is a BIOS setting that can enable or disable the fingerprint sensor.

    > 2. The camera on the laptop, it is installed properly (the said driver is ok) but when you use the image is all black. I should mention that the blue light turns on when you use the camera.

I had the same problem. In my case, that the room was too dark and the cam didn't work well. I had covered the lens of the webcam and after that I withdrew my finger from the webcam, webcam worked again. Notes; the room was very bright and the probe could catch the environment. I don't know if this could help Mr. maybe, you need to uninstall the webcam software before you try this procedure

  • HP Pavilion dv6 QJ916AAR: fingerprint reader problems

    Hello

This is my first post so I apologize if it appears in the wrong place. I'll have a problem with the fingerprint reader and HP simple pass identity protection software that came with my Dv6-QJ916AAR. For some reason any all of a sudden since this morning it will not work. There is no light on the sensor, and it fails every time and movement. When I run the single pass software and go to the fingerprint section, it shows the fingerprint reader is not connected. Interestingly, when I go to Device Manager I see no biometric devices listed under there. I read on another thread that some options below biometic devices in Device Manager solves the problem.

I already tried pass Simple uninstall/reinstall the Recovery Manager and also uninstalled and updated validity sensor but still no go.  Here are some other details:

Operating system: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

I can't find any other information on how to solve it. Can anyone help?

  • X 1 random behavior of yoga fingerprint reader

It is the second major problem with my X 1 Yoga. Not only the crash of driver touch screen "all the time" but the fingerprint reader does not about 30% of the time. Not sure what the cause/effect is because it is not consistent. For example, the light above it sometimes and you can unlock the device. Other times it is not and it either works or does not work. The light is so inconsistent that he is willing to unblock. Other times, perhaps from sleep or screen saver after having locked the machine, the only way is via the password.

As suggested by the support of Leonvo, I installed the latest drivers. But he has made zero difference.

  • Fingerprint reader no longer works

I'm a dv7-7250us, which is less than 1 year old.  It came with Win8.  I installed Win 8.1 beta and everything worked well.  When I installed the 8.1 final, I had to reinstall a bunch of my apps.  Once the dust settled, I found that my fingerprint reader no longer works.  No light show.  I reinstalled the driver but no joy there.  I have searched the SimplePass software but can't find it on my computer.  BIOS is F.28.  Prod # is C2H71UA #ABA.  Appreciate any assistance.

  • ENVY 17 t-J100 Leap Fingerprint reader seeing Motion?

My brother has the motion of non-saut ENVY 17 t-J000. And he has a LED indicator to the left of the sensor fingerprint that lights in white or orange when you drag your finger. Which is really nice to know that it has detected your finger when you think that nothing is happening.

But I just got the Motion Leap of his laptop computer version, and I don't see any LEDS light up when I slide my finger. The sensor works well though.

So my question is, can confirm one that this model has or that there is no LED indicator as the motion of non-saut feel LIKE? I don't want to lose time to call HP if this model does not have the LED indicator. But if he does, I need to have the unit repaired or replaced before I get it all together at the top.

Weird that it is not displayed, here's an imgur link, in case you still want to see

I've seen non - Leap Motion want and it is similar, as you say. Really weird that it does not work, especially since you said that the fingerprint reader itself works. I hope you have better luck with the replacement!

  • Want to fire green W701 fingerprint reader when the laptop is turned off

I realize the amount of electricity it uses is trivial, but unfortunately the accusation that carries the battery isn't much else. For the most part it's just because I don't have a use for the fingerprint reader. I completely uninstalled the software from the control panel. I thought that would get the light, but the "light on" survived the uninstaller not so complete.

I hope that there is a way to do it in the bios. If necessary I could re-download the software of fingerprint and do a from there, if possible.

It is possible to do anyway, please let me know. It's a minor thing, but I'm pretty annoyed that I'd make a sort.

When you turn on the computer (off-state), press F1 when you see the Lenovo logo (until the BONES start to load). "I think that you should find the fingerprints under security settings). It shouldn't be too hard to find.

Edit: Looks like that I don't remember it correctly. In the BIOS, you have the option to completely disable the fingerprint reader, but you do not have the option to turn off the green light only without disabling the fingerprint reader. If you want to disable the fingerprint reader completely turn off the computer, then turn on and press F1 when you see the Thinkpad logo (prior to the OS). When you enter BIOS click protection on the menu, and then select access to the Port of IO. In this list, you should have the ability to disable the fingerprint reader that I am sure that will also disable the go-ahead since the sensor is no longer in use. Press F10 to save and exit from BIOS.

To remove the green light only, or disable the option to turn on your computer by sliding the finger without completely disabling the fingerprint reader, in my view, you must reinstall the fingerprint reader software. Then, you must open the application after installation and type your password or by the finger scan enter enter parameters. Then click the settings button in the toolbar and you should have several tabs where you can turn off the green light or disable the use of fingerprint predesktop authentication.

  • PC laptop Envy 17: Envy 17 laptop PC fingerprint reader works only after the start

The fingerprint on my Envy 17 reader reads only a fingerprint the first time that I connect once the system is booted (after shutdown or restart). From time to time, it will read once the system is locked, but that is extremely rare. I put the system in place using my MSN account and also configured SimplePass with default settings. SimplePass version is 8.00.57.

I looked on several other issues in the forum and did not find something like this. Other issues reported when related to player doesn't work do not, for example. I found a few link in some messages describing such tasks that go back to a previous version of SimplePass.

I don't know if it is related to my problem or not, but I noticed that the drive light sometimes flashes a sequence once the system is running. It seems that when the light flashes, it will not be read. It stops flashing when I placed my finger on the reader. (I think that the typical sequence is 3 flashes, pause, 1 flash. This cycle repeats.) This isn't always for that well, and I have found no correlation between the flashes and the measures taken after the initial logon.

I made the fingerprint reader driver, rather than later.

I uninstalled SimplePass (after update to the last with no luck) and the drive works fine now. I use RoboForm for my password management and it supports using the fingerprint so I'm covered there. I guess it should be renamed "SimplyNoPass."

  • Nine T450s and fingerprint reader has stopped working

I know that many people have had this problem but I can't find the solution. One of the sons of 2014 has a "resolute" response but all that says is "it seems to have solved my problem." Left, wondering what solved the problem...

I've had this computer for a week. The fingerprint reader worked fine until yesterday. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but I connected an old drive to write DVD on USB port to try and install an old software. After that, the fingerprint reader is is more light up or work. The driver seems to work fine in Device Manager, but when I open the fingerprint reader app I get a message saying that the drive is not connected.

It's a problem that remained to still unresolved and unanswered by Lenovo or is there a solution can someone tell me?

Any help will be much appreciated.

UPDATE: support said that the keyboard is what has been the cause of the problem and replaced the keyboard. The drive works fine now.

    Hello SM1251,

I looked at your laptop and there is no Windows 8 drivers for it.  Have you tried to install the driver of Windows 7 in compatibility mode?

    1. Visit the HP Support and download the Windows 7 drivers for the hardware that you want to try.
    2. Download the driver to your desktop.
    3. Allow extraction until the complete but close the installation process, when it comes to the top.
    4. Navigate to the C:\swsetup\ folder.  You will see your driver listed here.  They usually have a name such as "sp48918".  Navigate to this folder.
    5. In the folder of your driver, you will see a file "setup.exe".  Right-click on this file and select Properties.
    6. Go to the tab "compatibility".
    7. Click on the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode dethrone" and also select Windows 7 in the menu dropdown.
    8. Check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator", below.
    9. Save these changes, and then double-click the "setup.exe" to start the installation.
    10. Once installation is complete, restart your PC and check the functionality of the hardware.

Please let me know if this helps solve your problem.

    Good luck!

  • HP ENVY 15 TS - J1Y24EA #ABU: integrated fingerprint reader, no sign of life

    Hello
Recently my fingerprint reader built in nature, will not show any signs of life, it won't be or see the windows settings or smart pass upward. Even when I run my finger on it, it shows no lights, or whatever it is.
When he started, when I opened my laptop, security issue would simply pop up. Meaning that he tried to read my footprint three times. Even though I hadn't touched.

    I'm sorely confused.
I've updated simplepass and she came again.
I tried an update to the Device Manager and the fingerprint reader itself.

I have disabled and einabled it just in case.

I was going to update my laptop, but I would lose so all HP programs, including simplepass. And it would take hours to get it all back again. I really want to try this option.

    Thank you in advance,

Step 1: Uninstall this driver from the Control Panel Validity WBF DDK

    Step 2: Restart the PC

Step 3: Type in the HP Recovery Manager boot screen

Step 4: Reinstall the Driver Validity WBF DDK

Step 5: It should work now, if it does not repeat the same steps a few times I have to repeat the same steps again
