WAG160N-antenna internal

Hi guys

WAG160N Version 2 comes with 3 internal antennas? Is it possible to change (v2 & v1) WAG160N from internal to external antenna to increase the range/performance? If Yes, what type of antenna and how to make this change?

Concerning

No, you cannot add external antenna on the router WAG160N and it come with two internal antennas.

    Hey @Mitzee ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that the Wi - Fi on your HP 8 1401 Tablet connection is intermittent.

If you have already performed a factory reset and the problem persists, I suggest to try the tablet on another network. I don't understand that other devices work on the same network but network is not quite as simple as that. All devices (even if it is exactly the same product) communicates with the router differently and independently.

    Hello

You can upgrade your device with the minPCI wireless network card.
In my opinion, you must use the recommended Wireless LAN Mini PCI cards.
On the websites of Toshiba under Options & accessories, you will find different wireless network cards that are compatible with this device.

Hello mattyg12, as I see it, the wireless card requires and external antena, as mentioned in the book loads.

I've never seen a without an external antena internal wireless card, but there may be some.

The built-in wireless adapter may have worked at your other place without external antena, if the computer was close to the wireless router. The wireless signal would be greatly reduced without external antena.

You can buy these antenas from many sources at a reasonable price if you do not find one that should have been shipped with your system.

You can also buy a wiresless USB adapter that fits simply into an available USB port. I have used many of them, and they work great.

I don't think that you will never get the wireless computer to connect to the router or another device like a USB adapter wireless wireless wireless without the antena.

If you go with the USB adapter, you will need to enter the Device Manager and disable the current wireless (the one without the antena) device so it would not conflict with a USB wireless adapter.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion 15-p253nu: HP Pavilion 15-p253nu WiFi slow speed

    Hello

I bought this laptop HP Pavilion p253nu 15 last month and after discussion here - finally found drivers for W7x64. everything is OK, but when I download something big, I see that the maximum download speed is around 30mbps with WiFi. I use the router TP-Link TL-WR941ND and my ISP gives me a speed of 100 Mbit/s via an optical connection. Before this laptop, I used an Intel 5100 WiFi chip and it has no problems - maximum download speed was about 90-95 Mbps (used Speedtest.net and real download a torrent). My girlfriend is connected through a router to the same UTP cable and the speed is the same - 90 - 95 Mbps.

The question is: why is the maximum speed of this chip BCM43142 so slow? And is it possible to change it? I think for the replacement with a 802.11ac Broadcom chip...

Okay, I bought Linksys WRT1900AC + 7260AC from Intel, but the problem was not resolved. Finally I found antenna internal for laptop HP, just stuck on the bottom plastic (there are little space), connected to the wifi chip and everything was OK.

So, I think that the manufacturer HP should check this problem, because it is very uncomfortable to have slow wifi speed due to the single internal wifi antenna...

I have a modem router from Linksys WAG320N but expected something better. It is easy to configure for a connection high speed and have a lot of adjustment possibilities but a transmission of the signal is very poor. It is said that there are 3 antennas (internal I guess, don't see them) and I had trouble with a bad signal within a dish a few meters from the router. Genererally is not a bad router. I've seen a lot of recommendations for billions routers (modem router)...

The name of Cisco on Linksys products not always means reliability. I do not know which router I will buy as a replacement for the WAG320N in the future, but it would not be a Valet or Linksys. This D-Link good mine:

  • Problems with AP 1310

    Hello world...

    I am configuring a standalone AP AIR-LAP1310G-A-K9R.

I have download the IOS LWAPP firmware downgrade software, I installed the firmware c1310-k9w7 - tar.123 - 11.JA4 and I am trying to configure the AP.

Using the default configuration I plugged the AP to my network and this AP had IP and I could get access to the Web Page.

The problem I got is the following:

I configured a SSID without VLAN and with my laptop using WirelessNetView, I could see the transmission power in this SSID.

In a normal configuration without external antenna (turn OFF), I got about 80 dB.  I know it's very low emission power because I have the AP in the same office.  Test different configuration, I had almost the same value (-75->-80).   Audit I plugged the external antenna and I got about 30 dB.

My question is: I'm setting disabling the external antenna, but connecting the antenna I had good power.  Is there a question about it?

Is the version of the firmware of the question?

What should I do to get the maximum power using the internal antenna.

    Thanks in advance...

    Guillermo Gonzalez.

    Guillermo,

There are 2 different 1310 models Bridge with antenna internal (without antenna connectors!) and on the other without the antenna conectors, which is only 1310 that you can connect an external antenna. I guess this is the model that you have, because you can connect to the antenna. By accessing the configuration of radio on the Web Interface, you will find the external antenna option (enable / disable) but it won't change anything on the device configuration or behavior. It is basically a tag that you can use when you manage trough of devices, say a WLSE, so here you will see a map of your site and it will tell you if you have internal or external antennas... But as I said, it of just "informative" and will not do anything to the unit itself.

If your 1310 has a conector antenna, you MUST use an external antenna, otherwise, it will be to distribute the signal but you will get a connection very very low.

  • Is there an internal WLan antenna in Satellite L10-119 PSL10E

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L10 - 119 older (model No. PSL10E-00L01MED).
I would add a mPCI-wireless card for which there is an empty slot.

However, there don't seem to be available antenna wires.
Is it possible these threads have slipped under the casing in which case I'll have to take the computer apart to find, or this computer did not come with built in antennas, although there amPCI slot?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    > Is it possible these threads have slipped under the casing in which case I'll have to take the computer apart to find, or this computer did not come with built in antennas, although there amPCI slot?

If there is a Wlan antenna you would see then two sons near the minPCI Wlan slot. Usually the two wires are black and white.
If you didn t find these threads then there is no WLan antenna inside the laptop.

    Hello

Use of Wireless antenna is a science that it itself, if installing the new antenna disabled olde that that he probably supposed to be this way.

According to the design, having two active antenna could be worse than one (as the addition of a fifth wheel of a car does not make the car better).

In any case you did not provided all the technical data concerning the specific material involved.
So there's no way to guess what it is.
