WAG160Nv2 & Netgear DGN2000

Hi all.

I really hope someone can help because I had this problem for a long time and I can't seem to get it sorted.

Here's the situation, I have a Linksys WAG160Nv2 (primary router DSL) and a Netgear DGN2000 (former DSL with router), the dsl on the Netgear port is broken and I now want to use it as a Repeater. I need to do this because I want to have the internet connection for my PS3, but also want to connect my pc to the internet across the House. Unfortunately, there are no half measures to put only the linksys so that both can access it, so I want to use the netgear as the signal Repeater. I tried to use the "Repeater with wireless client association" on the netgear, I put the channel SSID, security, on both the same and still no luck.

It is even possible to have the Netgear repeat the signal from Linksys?

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Dave.

N ° it is not possible unless you connect with an ethernet cable.

  • Satellite L300 wireless works do not with my particular brand of modem

Hello, I really need help here.

My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L300, and I got it since April. I can't connect wireless via the modem I have here at home (netgear DGN2000).
I can connect to other modems however. I've updated my wireless with Atheros card, but its still does not.
If anyone has any suggestions please please please help!

    Thank you

If you can connect to other routers on that it is proof that your laptop WLAN module works properly.
In my opinion you cannot connect to your one because of wrong settings on your router.

Your laptop detects your router? Your router is visible for Satellite L300?

  • Satellite L505 - WPA2-PSK does not work, but works of WPA - PSK

    Hello

I have a Satellite L505 and I tried to use WPA2-PSK security to connect to my Netgear DGN2000 router, since I read that only this authentication allows speed Wireless-N, but it does not work. I chose it as the mode to use on the router and Windows 7 64 bit on my laptop, so everything should work properly. If I set everything up to use WPA - PSK, then I can connect us, but the connection is terrible, even when I put the phone right next to the router. It indicates the quality of the signal is excellent and that it is connected to 54Mbs, but if I set up a ping to the router I can see over time, it goes up to 4 seconds and continually to expire. This means that the internet is unusable wireless.

For this reason, I was hoping I could get Wireless N work and I hope that the connection would be better. Someone can tell me why WPA - PSK works but not WPA2-PSK? (I tried versions of the AES and TKIP)

    Hello

Hmm... You have written anything on your OS... :(

On Windows XP, you need to install the Windows Update KB917021 as you can read here:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/917021/

I'll try to updated the WLAN driver. You can get the latest version on the Toshiba site.

Finally and above all it s always advisable to update the firmware on your router. You can get on the page of manufacturing of the router where you should find a changelog too.

  • Cannot connect wireless Deskjet 6988

I have a new HP Pavilion Elite d5100t running Vista Home Premium (64-bit) SP1.  I'm also using Norton Internet Security.  The PC is connected to a, router/ADSL modem Netgear DGN2000 Wrieless - N.  I can not get my DJ6988 to a wireless connection.  First I tried the Secure Easy Setup with WPS buttons, but it does not work.  The router has indicated that no device was found and kept flashing the led on the printer wireless and network light never came.  I had the same result, even with Norton firewall disabled.

Then I tried the instructions in the guide of the network for the configuration of the printer for a software firewall.  I've disabled the firewall and connected the printer with the Ethernet cable connected to the printer EWS.  I gave the printer static IP address and then the value as the intellectual property as a trust in the firewall site.  I then started the installation of printer software.  The facility found the wired connection and I followed the instructions to establish a wireless connection.  After removing the cable, Setup finds the printer wireless and finished with all what it seems to be ok.  However, a test page does not print and the light of network on the printer never stopped flashing.

I went in the printer properties in Control Panel and manually entered the IP address and that did not help.  Also, I went into the router and reserved IP address using the MAC and host name in the report to the printer.  That does not help either.  I don't know what else to do.

I solved my problem.  It was my fault that I have followed the instructions in the manual of the printer and not the manual of the router.  What I've done I hit the button on my router setup and then click the printer button.  I knew not who hits the button on the router generates a new SSID (why, I don't know).  The right way to do it for my Netgear router is to connect to the router (in Internet Explorer) and run the installer in this way.  When do so through the connection of the router it keeps the network settings.  My printer works fine wirelessly now.

  • 3000 X cannot connect to ADSL (Singnet)

I just bought a Linksys X 3000 to work with my ADSL connection (provider is Singtel Singapore).  I managed to use the sign in application of Cisco connection and configuration of the router OK, yesterday.  I even connected my PC to the router by LAN and also some wireless devices.

At the end of the day, I have everything turned off... but the next morning when I booted up the router, I found that all my devices cannot access the internet.  While they inspected the server (192.168.1.1), I found that it doesn't have a Singtel IP, although (the globe sign) symbol is illuminated on the internet router.

I restarted the router twice, to get the same results (note: I waited for a long time, every time, until the globe has been informed).

I disconnected the X 3000, then reconnected my Netgear DGN2000.  It worked (and an IP address comes from Singtel).

Then I disconnected the Netgear and reconnected X 3000.  To my surprise, this time X 3000 obtained the IP address and then the internet works again.

This is a very disconcerting experience.  I don't know what the problem is and if it happen... but I had to go to work and can only test this new tomororw.

Does anyone have the same experience?  How to solve it?  The new firmware will help?  (mine is always 1.0).  I would return the router for a refund?

Thank you!  I think I solved the problem.  The default of Cisco Connect app, was to PPPoE, for some reason any.  After that I changed it to PPPoA, the router has been able to connect.  Really weird that the default application is to make this kind of wrong setting!

  • WAG160N, names of host and Ubuntu 9.04

    Hi all again,.

Next problem, I can now TEU hosts names to access my network, but only under Windows. I also have Ubuntu, but cannot through the network with host names, I thought that the problem would have been fixed by applying the "Spca" work aroungd to the fields routers host and domain in the basic menu, but it seems only vault with windows.

With the installation of Ubuntu is a working configuration without any problem with the names of host and al., until I swapped my NETGEAR for the WAG160...

The symptom is that when using the net in ubuntu and you use 'ping server-pc' instead of returning the IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx he sends the ping by the wan port, which is completely false!

    does anyone have a solution?

    BTW running the last FW.15

    Screenshot will be explanatory: -.

    Thanks in advance, Andy

It is access to all printers, machines, dlna, XBMC etc... There are two main ways to access these items on your network, by the IP number, domain FULL name if you have a server domain, but in a small soho configuration, you can use a shertened version comes from the host name as you know.

The wag V1 has an unfortunate problem with its firmware DNS/DHCP you can access all of the elements easily by the IP number if you know, if that number changes as it does with DHCP, you must check the Jokers dhcp table or watch you machines IP # through networking Panel is - not more easy to use the host name of machine that would upset No, I did this in the past with RH7.3 Linux I have kown it is possible.

You get a partial solution by changing the setings base of the wag and by changing the fields for the host name and the domain name, but it breaks under ubuntu and you are not able to use hostnames on linux.

My preference is for dhcp with host names, if the configuration of the firmware of the devices was on-site the deamons dhcp/dns should be no problem as the netgears can, and after all almost all routers and gateways use there ' nix embeded OS in any case, the part of the sentence "Why do you have a dog and bark" comes to mind.

My only gripe is with Linksys on this because I know it's possible, but they don't seem to want to know, so I poured out the WAG160 and are returned and bought a Netgear DGN2000 and names of host and all is working perfectly.

Here ends the referral of Linksys.

  • Problem with ethernet connection

    Hello

I have a Netgear DGN2000 modem-router with 4 ethernet ports and wireless connectivity. I already connected a pc in an ethernet port and a laptop in another ethernet port and wireless. Everything works fine.

I bought 2 notebooks same, HP Compaq 610 with windows 7 Home premium and both with a marvell yukon 88E8042 fast ethernet controller and another a wireless card.

WiFi works fine for the two laptops with the router. But they can't connect via ethernet.

I tried all 4-port router, I tried with 3 different cables, I have tried with two firewalls (the laptop and the router) out, I set the router to its latest firmware and also each update for windows 7. I also tried to disconnect any connection between the router and I test a laptop each time and all ethernet ports router too. I tried hard reset my router too. Also an uninstall the network driver and rebooted the laptop to find him by his own and reinstall. But I still have the same problem.

I see the Green and orange laptop LED flashing for about 1 second and also the number of the port on the router connected but they can not connect so they all stop flashing. Then on 10-15 sec, they tried again, but still the same...

    Windows Network Diagnostics revealed that:

    "Problems found."

"An Ethernet cable is not plugged in correctly or maybe broken not being fixed.

The connection to the Local network showed that it is unplugged.

I run the windows Upgrade Advisor 7 and it said that all devices (and the netwrok adapter) are very good.

The adapter works correctly, as shown in its properties...

After all, I thought it was a problem with network cards. Of course, it was weird that this happens to two laptops, the same. So I tried the same cable that I used for my router and another router. They have both worked with the other router! This means that the adapters do not have a problem.

I have to talk to a technician of HP in Greece and I described the problem, but its response has been that it can find no problem with the laptop (which is not a lie as long as the NIC is working with the other router, I tried).

My router has no problem as long as it works properly with my pc via ethernet...

    So where is the problem?

    Can you help me please?

I only have an internet connection via ethernet. Now I can have wireless only.

I bought a new modem router (Belkin Wireless Router annexed part N USB) and now everything seems to work properly.

LAN speed is 100 Mbps, wireless network is also very good, so I guess the problem was my previous router.

Thank you guys for your responces anyway.

  • Cisco 837 as router ADSL2 +.

Hey guys, I hope someone can answer a few questions I have and see on the setting of a configuration that I have problems with!

I have a situation where I have ADSL2 + with a couple of IP addresses additional, unfortunately my current router does not properly support Translation NAT, nor does it support additional IP on the same interface... so my solution was to fill the current router (Netgear DGN2000) and push it into a Cisco 837 I without apparent reason laying around.

My idea was to implement the Ethernet0 interface as a LAN interface and the Ethernet2 as a WAN interface traffic and route between them, but I have problems obtain the WAN to authenticate correctly - I never did authenticating PPPoE on a Cisco before, and even less when I do not use interfaces ATM0/Dialer0 of the to do!

My setup is attached as it is, I wasn't sure if I needed to configure the IP address of my real world interface Ethernet2, or the Dialer0 interface would take care of this for me? I used the advice of configuration in (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/800/819/software/configuration/Guide/9ppp_e_nat.html) to set up what I have now, but wasn't sure if it would work on a different device.

Last things, I read somewhere that the Ethernet interfaces on the 837 were 10Mbit only - this would mean that if I push my link ADSL2 + through it, I would not be able to get faster than that? Or he ignores what I physically connect through a FastEthernet port?

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

    Hi Damien,.

Your configuration as a result of problems:

    1. Routing is disabled (I wonder how this happened) so the router is not a router at all. Fix this by adding the ip Routing and ip cef to your global configuration.
    2. The VPDN turned on unnecessarily. Remove the VPDN configuration altogether by entering the No vpdn-group TPG and not activate vpdn in your global configuration.
    3. Remove the interface Ethernet2 NAT configuration - this interface is not enabled, it is not necessary to configure IP NAT. enter no external ip nat in the Ethernet2 configuration.
    4. On the interface Ethernet2, try to remove the enable pppoe command. This command enables the PPPoE server feature which is useless, because you are a customer. The only required command regarding the PPPoE is the configuration of customer, have you already present with the command pppoe client dial-pool-number 1 -command who must stay on Ethernet2.
    5. Dialer1 interface, add the command ip tcp adjust-mss 1452 to make sure that the TCP sessions are not segments oversized requiring fragmentation. Add the ip nat outside command, as is the Dialer1 interface that is IP compatible interface to the outside world.
    6. On the Dialer1 interface, the controls group dialer and ppp authentication are useless and should not be present. The first command sets a list of "interesting traffic" which can cause a dialer to dial a number, but this only applies to compounds such as analog modems or ISDN, not in PPPoE technology. The second command actually cause that you need your ISP to authenticate in some cases, and it won't. As a result, issue the following commands in the configuration of Dialer1:
      1. No dialer-Group 1
      2. no authentication chap pap callin PPP
    7. Remove the route ip 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 Dialer1 static route and replace with ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer1 -I suppose you want all internet connectivity through the Dialer interface.
    8. Remove the ip nat inside source list internal interface Ethernet2 overload and replace it with the ip nat inside source list interface internal overload Dialer1 : this is the IP address of the Dialer1 you are hiding your internal network behind.

Try to make these changes and retest your connectivity. If it still does not please post your config then in force.

    Best regards

    Peter

  • Install a (wired) ethernet connected the printer on a wireless network

I just bought a laptop from HP dm4-1050ea with Win 7 operating system 64 bit & s5780uk PC HP Pavilion Slimline, with Win 7, 64-bit operating system. I have a HP2610 Photosmart printer that is currently connected to a Dell PC, Win XP SP3, via the USB port. I want two HP computers connect to the HP printer via a Netgear DGN2000 wireless router wirelessly. I understand that the HP printer needs to be connected to the router via ethernet, however, I don't know how to proceed with the installation. The installation CD supplied with the printer's 6, Win XP, and I don't know if I should be downloading drivers to the computer laptop dm4 and Pavilion PC or just one of the computers?

Any help on the steps to take and the order to take would be most appreciated

    Best regards

The booster can be to remember the old network. Is it possible to reset (clear) so he starts again?

You will perhaps connect to the EX6100 using your iPad and configure it manually, as explained in the manual.

  • Time capsules can extend a Netgear network

A time Capsule can be used to expand a network of Wi - Fi Nighthawk Netgear router X 6 AC3200 Tri - Band (R8000)?

The best answer we could provide... as you do not specify if you intend to "extend" the Netgear using Ethernet or Wi - Fi connection... would be Yes and no.

Yes, if you connect the Capsule on the Netgear router using a wired Ethernet cable connection, permanently.

No, if you think you have the time Capsule only connect to the Netgear wireless network.

  • 1 St gen AX and connect to the new network Netgear M/R...

Updated my cable modem/router to a Netgear C7000 and can't get my 1 St gen airport to reconnect to my network - Express use only in client mode to stream iTunes to amplified speakers. Have you tried all the typical solutions, but wonder if the problem may be with the security settings. The 1st gen AX supports WPA2-PSK security?

    Yes, he does.

However, users often get confused about what could be a 1st Gen AirPort Express.  Please check to locate the model number of the Express... it's on the side of the unit... hard to see... so you need good lighting and reading glasses.  The model number starts with an 'A' follow-up of four digits.

A 1st Gen AirPort Express is A1264 model number.  The 1st Gen means that it was the first Express to use 802.11 "n" wireless.

If you see A1084 or A1088, it is wireless a lot more old "b/g" which has been sold long before that Apple has started using the generation of naming when 802.11n model was introduced in 2008.

If that's what you have, then you will probably need to use WPA - PSK - TKIP security settings.
