Waiting: grayed out in screen saver

I've looked everywhere for the right key which controls if the wait: time is grayed out or not and I can not find.  I know that's not one of these:
ScreenSaverIsSecure
ScreenSaverTimeOut

concerning Milton

They are grayed out for me as well on my work computer, a result of the setting of group policy defined by my administrator to prevent any user to change the settings.  When the value of using a domain administrator group policy, the settings are not controlled by any value in the registry.  Instead, the value is applied during logon system.

This may explain the behavior, you see?

Note that if you are not on a company/school area, you can use gpedit.msc (type in the Run dialog box) to change your group policy settings.

I found the problem. I opened 'File' then saw 'save as template' grayed. Having not worked with models, I didn't know this isn't how it's done.

What I should have done was file > save as > then clicked the drop-down 'Save as template' menu option. It was a simple mistake. Thanks to you all.

I move the mouse or press a key to get the screen to go back, but I see is the screen "Please wait" for more than a minute then a background appears.  Click the mouse and I have one more minute of "Please wait" before the logon screen appears.

Can anyone help, until the laptop goes through the window?

    • Switch off the appliance.
    • To turn back press the power button and as soon as you release, keep pressing the "ESC" key, unless a screen comes up, you might want to wait a minute while tapping the button.
    • In the start menu, choose F2 - System Diagnostics.
    • HDD test would be under the Test component. (usually, it is recommended to test rapid and wide, but for now because the PC is new I rather suggest you simply run the Quick Test).

  • The icon is grayed out SAVE and SAVE AS option does not work in my Acrobat Adobe Reader ms

The record command is grayed out when I open a .pdf document in the Acrobat Reader from Adobe viewer. I used to "save under" once opened, but now this command does not work properly, I think it happened after an updated operating system (windows 10), so I thought it was related to her, but I can tell...

The keyboard Short-Shift-CTRL-S does not work either... but he used to work and it works with other .doc or .odt files

The point is: why could I do save and save as when already have the open PDF (pdf viewer) before and now this button is grayed out and cannot save or save as the name more? I do nothing wrong using Acrobat Adobe Reader DC, because I do exactly the same thing about what I was doing, and it always worked, so now it's something different...

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks much Sharma Shivan!

When I try to type in a search or the username or the password. It's the same as my screen background image and covers Im typing on screen.  If I move the mouse, the info is displayed again.  But the image appears several times, as Im trying to type. Ive been all over the Control Panel, trying to figure out what is the cause.  Help, please. Thank you!

    Hello

The first thing to check is the "wait time" until the screen saver activates, in which case it is the origin of the problem.

Open windows control panel, open personalization, click on the link to screensaver at the bottom right and in the next window, set the time in the box "Wait" - say 30 minutes.  Click on apply to save the changes.

    Kind regards

  • My screen saver came not at all when my computer has been idle. How should I do?

The same phenomenon occurs on each desktop. It is a new problem so I think that something has been corrupted.  I have Windows XP Home Edition, but I don't have an installation CD. Do I have to re - install Windows and how do I do this?

    (1) change your screen saver so that it becomes active after 1 minute of inactivity.

    2) change to something simple (white screen) - but REPLACE it with something you don't normally use.  Test it (Preview).

    (3) check your hibernation settings.  I recommend turning them offshore, but at least make sure that the time is longer than your screen saver time.

    (4) check your settings ' Power off Monitor "or"set Monitor to Sleep. "  Make sure that the time is greater than the screen saver, but less than the hibernation.

    (5) reboot your system.

    (6) If you have a wireless mouse - turn it / unplug the machine key.
    Even for a wireless keyboard.
If you have a laser mouse, make sure that the surface under it's clean/solid color.

Now, wait.  If the screen saver does not strike after 90 seconds (give him some extra time) - then you have a problem.  If this is the case - one of the things that you did above was your original problem.  Work from there to know which.  ;-)

When the mouse is moved or a key is struck, the screen lights up with a name/password user. When I click on Start-> settings-> Control Panel-> display-> Display Properties-> screen saver , the "Wait: __minutes" and "On resume, password protect" checkboxes are GRISEES OUT [you can't edit these settings] . In addition, the default screen saver is set to void and no matter how many times I change it to something else and click 'Apply' return empty by default.

    Hello JDG_SF, welcome.

These options are very likely controlled by your GP (Group Policy) settings on your domain. Due to the nature of the work of rights how administrative, there is no way to work around this problem, unless you have access to change group policy settings that affect all the machines on your network.

You would need to access or to change the settings of GP or find someone who already has access.

For more information or get in-depth help, I would recommend pass this question to TechNet:

  • My screen saver settings box is grayed out (locked)

My screen saver settings box is grayed out (locked) and allow me to choose a screen saver, even though my customizations page shows my saved theme screen saver.  How to "turn" the screen saver settings?

    Hi dez9rlady,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the screen saver.

1 how long have you been experiencing this problem for?

    2. have you recently installed or uninstalled any software?

    3. you experience this with all the screen savers in the list?

    4. what version of Windows 7 operating system is installed on your computer?

    5. you are the administrator of your computer?

    6. your computer is under any active field?

Go to start > run and type regedit. The Registry Editor opens.

    Find the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop

Look for the entry that says SCRNSAVE. EXE and the clear key.

In addition, if you have an entry that says ScreenSaveActive, delete this key as well.

Once you do this, you should be able to choose a screen saver.

Note: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Screen saver does not work... wait is greyed out

Screensaver no longer works.  Waiting time on is gray.  I have no access to this option.  How can I fix this?

    Hi Keren325,

    Sorry for the late reply.

I do not have Home Premium but I think you need to do Option 3.

But first of all to create a Restore Point (so that you can go back in case something goes wrong): use method 1 described here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/4230-registry-backup-restore.html

Then go back to the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/106343-screen-saver-timeout-period-set-change.html

Scroll to Option 3 and follow the steps.

You need to do step 4, ungray too the option 'Wait '.

Then close and reopen 'Screen Saver Settings' to see the change.

Also read the comments in this link.

    Good luck!

  • Why my screen saver settings are grayed out

On one user on my PC, I am unable to change the screen saver activation time of 10 minutes.  The box 'on CV.... ' is also unavailable.  Under XP it was only grayed out when the screen saver says 'None '. As soon as you have selected something, then you can change the values.  It's extremely frustrating because I can't make presentations without constantly moving the mouse back to does not not the system to go to sleep.  I went through all my programs and configurations of economy of energy but not available.  I log on a domain server, but it doesn't seem to be a problem with one of the other profiles that I use on the same computer.  I am currently trying to install a bunch of updates and see if it will work, but I don't think it will do as much as they seem to be unrelated with.

In fact, I got my answer.  It comes from our domain server settings... arrrrrrgh.  but thank you.

  • Why save for Web and devices is grayed out?

I have Photoshop CS5 on Mac OS X Lion mountain. PS works fine, until today. On some images, I work with, file > save for Web and devices is grayed out. In addition, to save money, the options are extremely limited. It is obvious that I inadvertently clicked on something that caused this, but I just can't understand that.

I took a screenshot of Photoshop with a test image (test.psd), whose resolution is 72px, RGB, 32 bit, appearance save for Web and devices greyed out. And a screenshot of the Save as dialog box.

Is the first screenshot to http://eastbrookwind.com/screen-shot.jpg

Is the second screenshot to http://eastbrookwind.com/save_as.jpg

I am confused and appreciate much help!

Right. You work in 32 bits per channel. Change your bit depth.
