Wanted: White screen after 10 Windows Update - problem even when back in windows 8.1

Hello

I've updated to windows 10 and after a few hours, the main screen of my laptop went blank but my second monitor that I use with a HDMI cable still works.

Here is a screenshot - one screen shows white and I'm typing this on screen 2 (continue below)

I've updated my drivers in Device Manager but problem persists, here's my profile for screens and link to full

From my understanding the cables of the screen white screens LCD is still, this problem started after the update of Windows 10 so I'm reluctant to think it's that. My laptop is still under warranty but do not want to send in if he didn't need that I need for work.

I found some information online saying that a restore Image will not work, but I have an and you can try it if need be.

Other information found online says that my computer basically "forgot" that I have a main display to get out information in and make the screen and that's why my second screen works perfectly and me might be able to solve this problem with the start of the saving mode and try to fix it from there again I've never done this and don't want to cause more problems doing things like that.

What could be the best way to go forward with this problem is to say. :

* Is there a way to check the LCD cables without disassembling the computer. (Don't want to do that, and don't think it's the fault)

* System Restore will help

* Where / who should I contact for help in this regard

Thanks for any help provided and please tell me if you need any other info to help. I really want to to fix the problem rather than take it to a guy or HP

It's a bad screen. The upgrade of Windows 10 timing is a coincidence. You can continue to use it as a desktop computer with an external monitor forever.

The title pretty much everything said.

The problem occurred on a fault that Dell Vostro 2510 with the additional option should only do the downgrade of Win Xp (from Vista).  As noted, on normal startup, the system will remain in a blank screen after the Windows Xp "loading" screen.  And on safe mode, it will join Mup.sys and then hang there.

The closest thing that I got from a web search was a thread in forum saying that the official info from Microsoft was that it was a question of Win Xp/motherboard (http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/31874/?o=40 halfway to a post by Bobb Fwed).  The poster provided no link, so I don't know how official his info was really.

    Hello LA_Hay,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

A problem with the card installed on your system, might be a major cause of the problem. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Try to start your system in a State of services necessary to the operation and a minimum set of drivers enabled, called Safe Mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: If you do not have the white screen in safe mode, try to clean the system startup:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: See "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as usual after a repair.

If the problem persists, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

    Update your graphics card.

    1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then, under System, click the Managerof peripheral . If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of hardware categories, find the display adapters and select the device driver you want to update, and then double-click the device name.
    3. Click the driver tab, click Update driver, and then follow the instructions. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

For more information, visit the below mentioned link:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

If you are not able to update the device driver via windows update, you can visit your computer or graphics card manufacturer's Web site and download & install the latest driver.

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

  • Satellite P300 - white screen after waking from sleep state

    I'm having this problem:
The LCD screen may be empty when the computer is "awakened" from the sleep state. Nothing is visible on the internal LCD or an external monitor.

There seems to be a solution:
An update of the firmware for a component in the main circuit of the computer solves this problem. This update must be performed by an authorized Toshiba (ASP) Service provider. Until arrangements are made for the update, restart the computer by pressing the power on button for a few seconds.

described here: [white screen after awakening from fallback status | http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_dtlView.jsp?soid=1642844&moid=1209152]

In fact, I think I'm able to solve myself, and I don't like not my laptop to be gone for two weeks or more. I just need some advice on where to find a correct upgrade. Is - this driver BIOS or graphics? Which version should download, where... etcetera. More tips on how to solve the problem are also welcome.

If you check the Toshiba document you would see that your Satellite P300 is not related to this issue.

In your case I would recommend upgrading the BIOS and graphics driver.
In addition to keep your operating system up-to-date.

I had this problem under Win XP and a MS patch and an update of the graphics card driver helped solve this problem.

  • HP 8440p: white screen after restart / no problems after a full stop - Windows Pro 10

When the machine is off then powered on everything works fine. If the computer is restarted or expires and goes into sleep mode, you can see Windows back upwards as the HARD drive light flashes and the normal startup sounds come from the speakers. But the screen is only backlit and white.

The only way to recover is to force power off of the machine and the power up normally. As a work around, I found that if I turn off the graphics driver (Intel HD Graphics) the machine normally responds but you lose the mode "standby" option.

The processor is an i7 620M (1st generation) I am running Windows 10 Pro. The product ID is - SJ341UP #ABA

All the elements in the Device Manager are normal except for the graphics card showing a normal stop condition.

    Thank you / / Jeff

I found that changing the refresh rate of 60 Hz to 40 Hz corrects the white screen issue. Have no idea of what has to do with what anyone, but at least we do not get the white screen on restart now. I do not consider this is a fix, but more than a workaround solution.

Right-click on the Intel icon in the system tray, and then click graphics properties took me to the Panel where I made this change.

  • White screen after the Satellite Pro P200 display driver update

I installed the latest display driver ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 (8.432, on the site of Toshiba through Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. Reboot, everything seems good as much as the screen "Please wait...". "Windows Vista professional, but instead of showing the page of connection I get an empty screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as usual). All I can do at this point is to be able to, and I'm running out of ideas on how to move forward.

    Things I've tried:
    # start in safe mode, the video resolution or last known good configuration, result the same screen empty.
    # connect to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) is not possible because the system has not yet loaded the network drivers.
    # I can't go back to a restore point because Vista can't find (I did a manual after you install updates windows over a couple of days).
I can run a system command line options of recovery and prefer to use it to disable the driver + if + I knew how before the use of the more radical options.

A search on the web (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous versions of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at to give a solution which does not exist for me.

I agree with Hairyfool, you who should solve problems using an external display. If no image appears, then something with the material might be.

Please give some information about your situation...

    See you soon

  • Laptop HP 15-f1233wm: white screen after login on Windows 10 HP for laptop 15

I get a blank screen after login. She wanted to do something. Can you help?

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

This issue would have occurred because of many things including the recent software updates, virus/malware, corrupted user account profile. To remedy, try this:

1 Please, shut down the computer using the power button

    2. turn on.

2.1 as soon as you press the power button, keep hitting the Esc key (such as tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Boot Menu that can resemble the following

    3. choose F11 on the keyboard to open the system recovery options.

The computer should boot from the recovery partition various options you of recovery. Note that the F11 option will work only if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there on, you have prenty of options to choose from.

Please, perform reset of Windows with the possibility to keep your files and save the settings.

This will be "Refresh" your windows but will keep your files and some stuff in places

    Hello

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Try the steps in the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.

Windows Vista or Windows 7 unbootable, and the Startup Repair tool does not resolve the problem:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/934540

    Method 2:
You can refer to the link below and check the drive for errors:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

Warning: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

If the methods mentioned above do not solve the problem, then it would be best to contact the manufacturer of the computer.

For more information, see the following Microsoft article and check if that helps.

  • Satellite C855 - white screen after BIOS update

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.

  • Windows 7 Pro: crashes with white screen after login

    Dear community,

I have an annoying bug with Windows 7 Professional (64-bit version) and could not find any problem even until that or other forums.

After logging in (choose user and entering the password), the "Welcome" screen appears for a few seconds. Then there is a blank wallpaper (i.e. According to the user settings) and the system is blocked. Everything you see is a mouse cursor (a regular), who move, but not possible interaction.

It does not work to get the Task Manager with CTRL-ALT-DEL in that State, and at least until 30 minutes just don't get past/changes. However, there is ongoing activity of hard disk, according to the LED. Only way out is to cut using the power switch.

The accident happened exactly regularly, but about every start of the second. Sometimes more often (i.e. it takes 3 or 4 attempts to open a session) or sometimes less often (i.e. up to 3 or 4 boots without problem).

Other than that, it is once you have successfully connected, the system works very well.

I tried to remove the user and re-create it, but the bug reappears immediately after.

Any ideas? Or advice where I could find what program/process is actually blocked?

    Hi Ruth & all,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Troubleshooting took a long time, because I do not use this PC every day and sometimes you can't tell if the problem is really gone or the boot just happened to work several times in a row...

After all, using the clean boot and the reactivation of services/startup items one by one, it seems that I could single out the Internet of G-Data as a cause security suite. I'm trying to do, with their support, if this is a known bug.

    Best,

    Colin
