The other poster was trying to retrieve items on the disk, so a delete/reformat was not an option for him. However, WD boxes are often better if they are are erased and reformatted for Mac. WD has an odd of industrial property on the reader that they stick in their enclosure which can cause formatting problems. Hello

The disk hard external does not get recognized in the other computer, there seems to be a problem with your hard drive.

You can try to change the USB cable that lets you connect the hard drive to the laptop and check if it is detected.

You can also see at the suggestion of this link.

If the problem persists, contact the WD Support.

    OT:

    Please help with this

Try this: go to "Start" then go to "Computer" right click on computer and left-click 'manage '.

This will bring you to the management of the computer. From there, you should see the drive. Try "initialize disk".

If you are not the "backup operator" or the "Administrator", then go to the control panel - system tools

-Administrative Tools, then click on "disk management". From there, you can follow these instructions.

    Initialize new disks

Backup operator or administrator is the minimum number of members required.

    To initialize new disks
    1. In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk.

    2. In the dialog box initialize the disk , select the disk to initialize. You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).

    Note

The disk is initialized as a basic disk.

    Additional considerations

    • New disks appear as uninitialized. Before you can use a disk, you must first initialize it. If you start disk management after the addition of a disk, the disk initialization Wizard appears then you can initialize the disk.

  • WD My Passport not recognized as drive external HARD on windows 7

    Hello

I would like to ask if anyone has experienced this and how the address the issue:

I just bought a WD My Passport Ultra 1 TB and tested on two devices (desktop to Win7 ultimate) and portable Win7 Pro. At first I used it on my desk and it it detected as required WDC but subsequently using the router as its update driver.

-J' checked the Disk Manager, and he's not here.

-J' checked Device Manager, it is detected as "Internet access server" (maybe the reason a router driver has been used).

-J' tried to uninstall the server "Internet access" and restart the system to flush it out

-The Office again the HDD detected as "Internet access server.

-J' checked BIOS and it is clearly detected as external WD HARD drive

After all this I tried on the laptop. No problem and did a reformat of the hard drive so that it can be detected as a disk of expenses by the office. Still no luck.

Hope someone can help me here.

    Thank you

    Perry

    Hi Perry,

First of all, check Device Manager to see if the WD hard drive status.

    a. right click "my computer".
    b. click 'manage '.
    c. Select 'disk management '.
    d. click Actions and click 'analyze disk '.
    e. find your player in the list in the lower pane. Right click and select "Initialize" and "Add partition".

    Method 3:
If none of the steps help, then remove and reinstall USB controllers.
    a. disconnect all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse.
    b. click on the Start button.
    c. type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.
    d. in the Manager device scroll down to USB controllers.

  • Nighthawk R8500, USB 3.0 Flash drive not recognized USB 3.0 Port, Port of only 2.0

My Nighthawk R8500 router with the latest firmware, V1.0.2.54_1.0.56, does not recognize my SanDisk Ultra Fit 128 GB USB 3.0 Flash drive when it is connected to the router USB 3.0 Port. The Ultra Fit is formatted in FAT32 and works fine when plugged into USB Port 2.0 router or my laptop.

At first, I thought maybe USB 3.0 Port on my router wasn't working at all, but it recognizes my SanDisk 16 GB Cruzer USB 2.0 Flash Drive that is also formatted FAT 32. Unfortunately both my laptop have USB 2.0 Ports, so I don't know if the problem is with the router or the Ultra Fit Flash Drive. Everyone knows about this problem of their Flash 3.0 player is not recognized in USB 3.0 Port their router, especially with a SanDisk Ultra Fit? This problem can be resolved through firmware? I'd really like to take full advantage of the speed of USB 3.0 as I like to share files through my router via ReadyShare and ReadyCloud.

Thanks in advance for any help, Carlos

  • external USB drives not recognized under xp pro 64

I bought a genuine version of XP Pro 64 to load on my computer and because Win 7 froze with drivers nVidia graphics.

When I plug a recently bought Seagate Goflex or one of the new Western Digital external hard drives, they are not recognized.

They do not show on my computer or disk management at all.

They appear in Device Manager with a yellow question mark big under 'other devices '.

I right click on the hard drive in the Device Manager to update the driver, and it always fails.

Before ask you, these USB drives work perfectly on my other XP Home 32 System. The cables are good.

I tried different ports, front and rear... no good.

My system XP 64 Prp is updated w/Windows update and software chip to the motherboard.

Strangely, I have a hard drive WD Passport USB 500 Gb one-year-old that works fine on XP 64 system.

WD technicians say that I am the only one with this problem. PlugNPlay needs no driver, what do say.

I also have IDE/SATA USB cable w / the power cable, I use to connect my old internal drives.

Works fine on the XP Home 32, but I get the error "USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge" in the device with the 64-bit System Manager.

Yes these devices are all "turned on."

Something is missing on the XP 64 system.

    Help is very appreciated.

Been looking for a solution for a week now.

    Thank you.

  • External hard drive gives USB not recognized error

I have a Western Digital Passport 80 GB HD, which worked fine with XP until today.  I plugged this morning and received an error not recognized USB.  I followed the troubleshooting tips and online help.  It seems that in most cases, if you go to computer management / disk management, you can see the external hard drive.  This is not the case with mine.  I don't see the player.  I downloaded the recovery software, but everything is based on the premise that the drive appears.  Mine does not work.  Can someone help me?

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, this drive has probably went wrong.  Have you tried another cable to connect your player to your computer?  It may be a long shot, but it is possible that the cable could be damaged.  You may need to take your car to a specialist in recovery to recover the data.  I apologize for the bad news.

  • Pavilion G6-2123us: recovery of System Image of WD My Passport Ultra

On my Pavilion G6 Notebook, I created a Windows 7 System Image and stored on an external USB WD My Passport Ultra.  When I boot my drive to repair (with the connected USB drive) and asks him to restore a System Image it says that it manages.  Because it's there (my Windows 8 machine can see the images on the USB drive), I guess that the G6 can not see My Passport USB drive.  I've updated the BIOS and other software recommended on the G6 as well as update the firmware on My Passport but no luck.   The G6 are able to see the key USB when I started upward in repair disk mode?   I give myself the option to load drivers for my external hard drive, but I don't know what that way with a USB connected any device.  If the G6 should be able to see the USB key, what should be my next step?

I'll call this resovled.  The answer is that the native Windows tools to manage the system image in Windows 7 are really quite poor and you're better off using another product.  But whatever happens, to start on the ERD and see the USB you have to plug the USB on the right side (mouse) USB port.
