WD Sentinel DX4000 is able to backup of servers running Windows Server 2008 R2?

Community of Microsoft of Hello, I have the following problem:

(1) I bought a 4 TB external hard drive to back up the servers running Windows Server 2008 R2

(2) in order to back up servers in the external hard drive, I used the windows backup tool server

(3) but the backup does not work and windows tool has shown a message output problem I / O

(4) seeking to this topic, read xxxx

(5) then went on the western digital site to check any storage which can back up servers

(6) located the WD Sentinel DX4000 (http://store.westerndigital.com/store/wdus/en_US/DisplayProductDetailsPage/categoryID.59243300/subCategory.59245600/parid.59193300/catid.59243100)

(7) but before I buy, I want to assure you that I will be able to connect the WD Sentinel DX4000 on servers and perform the backup or backup windows or Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials tool that comes in WD own Sentinel DX4000

(9) also asked the technicians at Microsoft, but he could not answer with certainty.

So I turn to Microsoft community to see if someone is using the WD Sentinel DX4000 to back up servers with windows 2008 R2 server successfully.

Already, thank you for your attention.

I have a server that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 with 4 exchangeable to hard drives hot.  3 250 GB disks and configured in RAID 5.  The 4th 1 TB hard drive and used for the backup.  With capabilities to warm the intention was to use the 4th hard drive as a player traded for backup purposes, put the inactive disks in a vault without danger for the security and protection.  Unfortunately I was able to configure Windows backup software to recognize the multiple backup drives.

I hope that someone is aware of this problem and knows how to solve.  If yes I would appreciate to hear your solution.

  • Citadel of backup does not not on Server 2008

    I use Lookout 6.7

I just updated from Windows XP to Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

The process went very well. I was able to take the files of the project and the new easy to machine. I was able to archive the data from the old computer to the new easily.

I use the CitadelControl object to back up data.  It works fine on the old computer. The new works at all.  The bar works but no progress data is recorded or stored in the backup file.

I checked the path on the new machine, and that's okay.

I have attached the database correctly.  I test this by creating the new path on the old machine and checking my steps.

    Anyone with ideas?

The only thing that I wonder about is that measurement and automation is installed on C: and 6.7 Lookout is installed on E:

    I think it's important but...

I uninstalled the software service COMPUTERS had installed and reinstalled to the default locations.

Lookout and measurement and control are now in the same drive.  Restarted server a couple of times and unit would still not have archive.  Went back next day unit is now archiving and working. A week later to check that everything works.

Maybe the gremlins.   anyway for now fixed.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 after trying to make a backup of Buffalo Linkstation no start

A colleague logged the buffalo linkstation to our server and tried to save her. Something has gone wrong (the backup was not completed) and the server restarted. Now it starts (the scroll bar ends and after it I see the mouse cursor in the black screen) and after a few reboots seconds. I can't disable the auto restart after system failure in the bios (there is no such function). And this isn't a hardware problem (I connected the HDD on another machine and the result was the same).

I tried fixboot, fixmbr, rebuildbcd comands in command prompt and they have all successfully completed, but the error still exists. Maybe someone has had this or a similar problem and knows the solution?   Thanks in advance!

I use a windows 2008 R2 server.  I implemented a backup on this server schedule to back up files to a remote shared folder on our server which performs backups of our entire company.  I can get through the Scheduling Assistant without backup problems and everything seems correct, but when the time comes to start the backup it won't proceed with the backup.  Once past the backup start time and then it will tell me the next backup will be tomorrow at the same time.  He never tells me the backup failed, either that he has in the past, it's like she's not even read the new scheduled backup and I am all of these possible solutions.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 backup failure

    Summary:

The Windows backup utility does not autoplay.

    Details:

The backup fails with the error code ' ' 0 x 80780034 "(Windows backup could not create the cliché about the location of storage.) »

The VSS error event associated with: "unexpected error CreateFileW(\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy549\,0x80000000,0x00000003,...).".  HR = 0 x 80070013, the media is write protected. »

    Not already done so:

Checked to ensure that the VSS service was actually being run and changed the startup type to "automatic".

Checked to make sure that the backup volume is writable. (it's)

Google search for issues similar and found nothing. (although a plethora of backup windows and errors found VSS, no adjustment issue)

    Notes:

The volume is an iSCSI-mounted drive.

The backup succeeds if triggered manually.

  • Complete restoration of the Server 2008 R2 vmware workstation for windows backup image 9

    9 workstation.

I am trying to restore a backup of windows server r2 2008 (made with the built-in windows backup) on an existing installation of vmware server 2008 r2. Basically, I just want to replace the facility with the backup version.

The problem is, the windows to the backup image is on a USB key.

    The restore process is:

    1. Connect the usb host drive
    2. Insert the windows server r2 DVD in drive
    3. initialize the Server 2008 r2 comments and press the button ESC at startup, then boot from the CD
    4. Select 'repair' installation
    5. but here's the problem, windows backup image is on my USB, but at this stage I do not see the USB key from the client in the repair installation process.

Ideas of the best way to do it?

    Thank you

Okay, downloaded the ISO Image of Windows Server 2008 R2, created a new Virtual Machine, added the Windows Server backup and made a full backup without the destination for the backup drive, a USB Flash drive.

Started the virtual machine of the ISO Image and it does not see the backup from a USB Flash drive, although I can see it from the command prompt.

Also created a record gross hard pointing to the USB Flash drive and started the virtual machine of the ISO Image and he does not see the backup of the hard disk gross of the Flash USB drive, because the Virtual Machine had problems during the boot process.  Forget the exact error message, but I tried as a whole disk and a partition.  So the why I tested it by copying it to a normal file depending on the disc hard virtual (and worked).

Finally I created a regular file based hard and copied the backup folder of the USB Flash it and then started the virtual machine drive of the ISO Image and it had no problem see the backup from the normal file based hard.

It seems that you have to take the long way around, but at least, you should be able to see!

I know not when booting from the ISO Image or a disc of Windows Server 2008 R2, backup tools command line are available to restore the image however you could examine the issue.  I would like to but I just don't have the time at the moment.
