WE have 2 macbookpros 10.10.5 - we, recently turned to gmail.  Now, if remove us an email on a single computer - it is removed on both computers.  How can we stop this so that computers operate independently of each other?

We have 2 macbookpros 10.10.5 - we recently changed to gmail.   now when my wife deletes an email on your Mac... that electronic mail is also deleted on my mac - and if I delete an email on the same account - remove the e-mail on his computer - we don't want that to happen - we want the actions on a computer to be independent of the actions on another computer.

How can we stop this?

My first recommendation is that each of you get your own e-mail account. They are free. If you decide not to do this, change to POP3 instead of IMAP Gmail settings. If you connect to Gmail via your browser, go to the settings, then transfer and POP/IMAP. Change to activate the POP protocol for all messages.
