  Please go to Toshiba download page http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp select your laptop model and download the webcam application.
  After you do this check device manager and let us know if the webcam is installed correctly. It should be listed under imaging device.

  My kids use a webcam when the cat to their aunt in New Zealand. Problem is that it does not work on Vista!
  I really get it in the neck, sort.
  If I plug the cam then MSN crashes (greys out and only can be closed), which leads to a "blue screen"!

  If there really is no drivers for Vista available, then you should buy a logitech cam. They are commonly known to run on almost all systems, even on vista.

  Because I Don t know your cam and what software you have installed, I cannot unfortunately give you a few tips to fix this. Maybe by removing everything and then first install the vista drivers (if you find some) without some useless cam-software (which is usually supplied with these cams), then the Messenger. PROBABLY, it should work, but I'm not sure.

  Otherwise, I would like to make on the logitech quickcam. :)

  Recently got a Satellite L500-1DT for my mother who is learning to use a computer for the first time and everything works apart from the webcam integrated, that was a big part of the decision to purchase.

  The blue light comes on and it records sound but no pictures. Also, it does not take the photo or tour and in both cases just shows the image of cloudy sunset which seems to be a default turned on the program. I tried troubleshooting for her, but there is nothing in the help guide that tells you how to solve this problem, if it doesn't work.
  The software is already preloaded when it was purchased (we got it online) and I don't want to uninstall it because I don't think that we have a record.

  Can anyone help?

  I m not very good but in my opinion you should try to reinstall the driver for the webcam. Just check the Toshiba page for an update:

  But before installing the latest version, first remove the old and reboot the laptop.

  Regarding the disc you want to say, as far as I know Toshiba laptop will not be delivered with the recovery disk. This means that you must create yourself using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.   I put t think there is solution for this. If I understand you right there is a problem with software pre-installed. It is not easy to say why this is happening.

  I have Satellite A300 too and use it with Win7 32 bit. Webcam works fine all the time.

  One more thing: have you noticed this problem in the first moments after installing Win7 or later?

  Have you installed another Win 7 on this laptop or are you using the system preinstalled by Toshiba?
