What caused these colors cover my computer screen?

I have a Dell Inspiron One 2320. Every now and then the screen got covered by first blue, then red and then green. The only thing I could do to get out was to unplug and restart. The computer might be fine for days without this type of interruption, and then it would happen a few hours.

(1) what caused this to happen?

(2) how to fix the problem?

Hi summer98,

It looks like a video card problem. Contact technical support, you should be under warranty.

  • What causes a Color LaserJet 3525 print only Extensible task and nothing else?

I enclose a printed copy of what should be a configuration of a Color LaserJet 3525 page. As you can see, there is no text of any kind printed but only finger stretch marks. I am also attaching one of the pages of the diagnostics output. As you can see, only magenta print whatever it is readable.

The printer went out of warranty two years ago, but worked well so far.

You problems with the black and yellow toners or problem with the scanner to the laser/for these colors. The easy way to test is to go to the diagnostics on the printer menu and choose the item disable check cartridge. When the printer says ready, diagnostic mode, open the front cover and do switch the magenta toner in the black slot and in the yellow slot cyan toner and toner Black, then put in the slot of magenta and yellow toner in the cyan slot. Now try and print a page of Setup again and post the results. If you now get a magenta print which is good, which would indicate that the black toner, and I think that the yellow toner are bad. If still the same problem I think you meet / scanner laser or high-voltage issues. You can also do engine test again to see what lines appear on the page. Keep in mind that the person above you wanted the diagnostic with the installed trainer test.

Thank you. I tried a different monitor on the same cable and had the same problem. I tried another computer with the same cable and had no problems. Now, I installed a replacement graphics card and the problem is solved. Response - graphics card has failed. New card replacement/installation.

  • What can I do? My computer screen says ´keep your PC until it is done. Installing Update 2 of 2. ´

It has been like this for ten hours, I don't know what else to do. When I stopped and then turn it back on nothing changes. Help, please!

    Hi Nicole,.

I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop?

    2. do you have support for Installation of Windows 8?

    3. have you connected external devices other than the keyboard and mouse?

If you are able to boot to the desktop, then I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Try the procedure described in the following Microsoft Support article and check if that helps.

Windows Update crashes when installing updates in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2700567/en-us

Note: When you use the 'Refresh your PC' tool, your computer will render you the current Windows installation to the original installation version. This method requires you to reinstall all updates that are not on the installation. Applications that you have installed the drives or Web sites will be removed. You will find a list of applications on your desktop.

    Method 2:

Restore to restore the date before the problem started with the help of the system and check if the problem persists.

How to refresh, reset or restore your PC:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-PC

Note: refer to the section "restore your PC to an earlier point in time." the steps also apply to Windows 8.

See also the following Microsoft Help article.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358/en-us

Note: try the steps that are applied to Windows 8.

Note: After the clean boot troubleshooting step, refer to the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link to return your computer to a Normal startup mode.

Please reply with the status of the issue so that we can better help you.

  • Whenever I turn on my computer there is always an icon of "ready to install update" showing. What are these updates and why so many?

"When I turn off my computer, I have an icon of" ready to install update "in the upper right of the button 'disable' located between the"stand by"and"restart"buttons. In the past, I would occasionally get one of these notices, but now they happen whenever I'm on the computer. What are these updates and why they are so common and if they pose a threat to my computer?

    Hi Michael,

    Try the following.

Step 1: Check if there is lack of updates.

    a. click Start, click all programsand then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    b. on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click view update history. A window opens that displays the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.

    (c) in the State of this window column, find the update failed to install and then click on the red X. A new window opens that displays the installation error code.

    d. Note the error number. (If any).

Step 2: reset Windows Update components and then install updates. Visit the following link and click on Fixit.

  • I asked before but everyone has discovered what causes vertical lines on the screen?

I have vertical lines on my screen about 6 or 7 and his worst do. They go to various shades of pink, green and yellow. I asked if anyone knew the answer later when there was only 1, and even if other people had this problem no one knew the answer. Has anyone discovered yet because its getting so irritating, I think I need a new machine. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Rupture of the membranes that make up the screen is what causes the problem.

Rupture may be caused by indifferent manufacturing, overzealous pressure while cleaning and old age.

Sometimes the graphics card can go wrong, but they will generally 'very bad', not just some annoying lines on the screen.

In the end, you will have t get the screen replaced... :-)
