What connectors SATA speed do I have on my motherboard?

Hello

This is my first time on this forum posting.

I would like to find on what SATA connector should I "plug" a new HARD drive on my motherboard.

What SATA connector is best to have the primary/boot HARD drive connected to?

The PC I have is quite old now, and I don't even know if the motherboard has SATA II or even SATA III (speed) connections.

The motherboard is:
MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E)

Here is the link to the HP specifications page.
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02014355

On the list of specifications for the storage, it lists just x 4 SATA connectors.

I have reason to believe that this means that they are all only SATA I (speed) connectors?

It would be great if someone could let me know.

Thank you very much

Ian

You are the very welcome, Ian.

Yes, it's the correct way to get the disks attached.

1 is the main, 2 is the secondary image.

I see these two guys on the side.

The mine has 4 ports that resemble the orange and blue in the picture.

Hi t3hbr3tt, welcome to the Forums of HP. I can't find the exact SATA revision, but page 103 of the maintenance and Service Guide shows 5 hard drives available, and they report SATA @ 1.1 GB/s. This makes it look as if it were 1 SATA.

I think that I also found the reference for the chipset AMD A76M CHT support SATA II.

You might be able to check the SATA using PC-Wizardversion. It is provided by the same people who provide CPU - ID.

It's a good program, but as with most free software, it is ad supported. Be cautious of links ad on the web page. The download link you are looking for is on the right, next to the yellow icon "2013.2.12 setup. After that, the purple download button will start the download. Once backup to your computer, read each screen carefully. I did not want to install the additional ad software supported it asks you to install. When I did it asked to install "Advanced System Protector", I disabled it before clicking on "continue".

Once it is installed, you can find the SATA support, by clicking on the icon of the motherboard. Then the Chipset. Below will populate a list. Search for "features on the device" which should contain the information you want.

  • Negotiated SATA speed

    O.P.

    Hello.

Try to establish if the optical SATA connection on an iMac in early 2009 will achieve 2 SATA speed of 3 GB with a 500 GB SSD crucial MX200. Have already tried a Sandisk ultra 2 with controller Marvell and only got a negotiated speed of SATA 1 which is 1.5 GB.

Speculation on the Internet is the optical connector is limited to 1 SATA but when I go into system report that it shows that the port is capable is SATA2, but negotiated to SATA1. Don't want to destroy this iMac again until I am sure that it will work to speed SATA 2.

    Thank you

The SATA connection in optical Bay is SATA 3.0 Gb/s. It is likely that your iMac is a Nvidia MCP79 SATA controller that will limit some SSD speeds 6 GB/s SATA 1 speed. The conflict focuses on Sandforce technology and the Marvell controller apparently uses Sandforce. Your is the second instance of the problem with a Marvell controller that I answered last week. Return the SSD for a refund and get a Samsung or go to OWC and get one of their 3Gb http://eshop.macsales.com/ SSD

    Hello

I'm interesting on Satellite P200-155 or Satellite P200-143, but I do not know the speed of the hard drive.
What is the speed of the hard drive in this model? 4200 RPM or 5400 RPM?
    Thank you

PS: Sorry for my English :)

    Hello

The P200 series is very new and as far as I know for several weeks on the market.
These new generation laptops use a newer HARD disk i/o.

After a lengthy investigation on several websites, I discovered that this laptop comes with a 160 GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD!

    Hope I could help ;)

    Adiós ;)

  • T420 Ultrabay SATA speeds?

Sorry for what is without any doubt a double subject, but I get a lot of contradictory information from many conflicting sources. What kind of speeds I get using a HARD drive instead of the optical drive caddy in a T420? I read everything from SATA1 to SATA3, and I'd like a firm response until I have spend the money.

T420 and T430 have a SATAIII Ultrabay (6 Gbps) and location for primary hard drive, the slots mSATA on these machines are SATAII (3 Gbps).

  • What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (E200 & Clip)

What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (using the pliers & E200)

I'm finally migrate to a pretty decent computer, after having struggled with a very SLOW Dell for another few years.

My USB transfer rates are MUCH faster than them - saved file (WAV), which took about an hour and a half to transfer on the Dell, Dell will transfer in maybe six or eight minutes on this new machine.

However, I still get a small fraction of what I think I should get - I didn't record the numbers (they vary somewhat from run to run) but I don't think I've EVER received anything faster than 2 megabytes per second when copying the Sansa to the computer. (Computer a Pentium dual-core, 2.8 GHz, 4 GB memory, running Vista 32 bit.)

It is not a problem of USB port on the computer - pretty pedestrian USB flash drives and cards MicroSD (USB card reader) will transfer at rates much higher than the Sansas.

Is this normal and something I have to live with, or is there something I can do to speed things up?  (I've done a lot of research, did not find much, but one thing I noticed was someone who said have received something like twice the throughput when using MTP mode, as it did when using MSC.)  Personally I don't want to use the MTP - I prefer a lot being able to drag and drop via windows shell folders Explorer standards rather than dealing with Media Player, synchronization, etc.

Well, I decided to look at a file copy operation - he actually hit 4.02 MB/sec for about two seconds.  Began slowly, gradually progressed a little faster that it happened, got to 3.80, then oscillated around a little, then a little up to 3.99, then hit 4.01 for a second or two, then fell back again and then up to 4.01 for maybe two seconds at the end.

So, faster than I thought, but still pretty stinkin' ' slow, given what can make USB 2 (and MADE do with other devices, so I know it isn't the computer - and the fact that it happens for you also confirms that it is not something unique to my situation).

So why are they so slow?

From October 2016, Costco sells a XPS 8900, i7, 16 GB, GeForce GTX745 PC.  Is the motherboard in this PC has a connector SATA 3 that I can use for one SSD SATA I already have?

Yes.The 8900 has five SATA ports on the motherboard and the power cables in support of three hard drives and two optical drives.

  • R430 integrated sata speed?

    (1) speed. (in AHCI)

    (2) is at the same speed when in (cough) "RAID" (fakeraid)

    Hello

SATA speed is determined by the IO controller. The R630 uses the X 99 C610 Intel chipset for i/o control. It supports up to 6 Gb/s. The maximum speed must be the same with the S130 because it still uses the chipset for i/o control.

  • How can I know what kind of AirPort Extreme I have?

I got a 2T HD connected to my AirPort Extreme to use as a Time Machine backup - the HD 2 t was too small for my home network, so I've upgraded to a hard drive of 6 t.  Now I can't connect to my drive 6 t of Time Machine to back up.  I read a support link that says the time machine backup only works with a model AirPort Extreme 802.11ac only.  How can I find out what kind of AirPort Extreme I have.  If my AirPort Extreme is "outdated" upgrade to the 802.11ac will allow me to use my HD external 6 t?

    On your Mac...

Open AirPort Utility (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)

Hold down the option on your Mac so you double-click on the image of the AirPort router

Search for information at the top of the Summary Page on the model you have

There is nobody here from Apple, just we users.

WhatsApp has not been developed for the iPad. Ask the developers.

The iPad can't make a phone call because it is not a phone.  But there is a choice of applications such as Skype to make calls over the internet.  The SIM card in an iPad has data only.

  • HP Pavilion 15 laptop-n096ea - SATA speed?

    HI guys,.

Hoping for a little help, I searched here and google but can't find the answer if nobody knows the SATA speed for this laptop ((SATA I II III))

    Thanks for the help

    Rich

    Hi, rich:

Starting with the Mobile Intel 6 Series chipsets, support SATA III on at least two of the ports there.

Your model has a chipset Mobile Intel 8 series, so a hard drive SATA III would go to the full 6.0 Gbit/s spec.
