What Dell switches are suitable for VMware?

We will have a very simple vSphere environment. What switches should we buy? Must be Dell. I am a newbie in networking, but I'm a PCV.

2 x ESXi hosts in a cluster HA/DRS 5

vCenter Server will run as a virtual machine

We will be using VLANs for security

We will use a pair of resilient switches

No storage traffic will go on these switches, only management, vMotion and VM Networking

The data center will provide a managed firewall. There will be no other switches.

X 2 Dell PowerConnect 2848 switches would be enough? They can carry traffic between the VLANS? Or do we need more expensive switches?

Sorry for the newbie question!

From what I can find on the Dell Web site, the PowerConnect 2848 switch isn't a layer 3 switch, so it would not be able to carry traffic between the VLANS.  To route between VLANS, you will have them either need a dedicated router, or you'd need switches with 3 as the PowerConnect 6248 switch layer routing capabilities.

Switches are not certified, since they are not directly tied to the hardware where ESX.

HBA is certified, those are ones that you should be concerned.

Either Cisco switch should be fine, Cisco is about acceptable and recommended by anyone you're talking about.

    Hello

    Satellite L300 supports SATA HDD!
SATA controller having no physical limit, you should be able to use any HARD drive 2.5 SATA. So, for example, a 500 GB 2.5 SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive should be compatible.

  • What hard drives are supported for Satellite 5100-201

    Hello!

My drive is making some strange noises, might he have one foot in the grave...
Have the latest bios 1.9. and the original at 30 GB disk.
Have a Hitachi 40 GB I tried with, but the laptop did not.
So I would like to know what drives and formats supported for this model.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Very strange did you use a compatible 40 GB HDD?
To my knowledge, the laptop must be able to recognize the 40 GB HARD drive.
As far as I know the 30 GB HARD drive that was installed is a Toshiba MK3017GAP and the computer supports a HDD of 20, 30, 40 or 60 GB.

I think that these disc HARD must be compatible:
Toshiba HDD2171B 40 GB HARD drive
HITACHI G8BC00009110 40 GB HARD DRIVE
    Toshiba HDD2183B 60GB

PS: The strange noise from the HARD drive could be the beginning of the end
So make a backup of the data.

  • PCI DAQ cards are suitable for 24 x 7?

I have an application that must run non-stop for 6 to 8 months.

Its a bench of Endurance for the bike a solenoid and the tracing of the switch ON / OFF times. The main code (LV 2009) runs in a loop of material timed 10ms.  With a pulse frequency of about 1 Hz, I need to cycle for about 20 million times. (There no missing iteration as the average is 4-5 ms only.)

Using cards PCI-6229 and 6514 PCI inside an industrial PC of Advantech and running on the platform of WIN - 7.

So far the system has worked for about 3 weeks without problems. Will this work for the rest of the period?  In other words the my approach is correct with the mentioned combination H/W and LV2009? Or if a RTOS with cRIO more fit here?

    Thank you

Long-term running test can be very difficult!  There's just too many things that can hurt-outages, failures, operator errors or managers even drop a cup of coffee in the set-up (trust me, its happened).

When I met this requirement type, I try to think about how "Fail" the system so that, even if the PC blows up I can recover the data and to continue the experiment.  In your case, it does not sound as if each of the cycles of 20 M is absolutely necessary.  You could still learn about the lifecycle of the solenoids of the trends in the data.  I guess that you are interested in breaking in, long term trends and indicators of end of LIFE.  If logging of regularrly with an additional event log data (event: arrested - power faulure cycles 10,787,690 complete system to YY/MM/DD/HH: mmS etc.) would probably keep any conclusion you draw valid data analyses.

But most of that is software design requirement and design for the fault tolerance.  Material list you seems appropriate for this experience (and close enough that I can tell from the spec limited discription, I have focused on for this type of solution).

  • What additional features are available for the raw files?

When I'm working on the raw files in lightroom, I notice nothing else I can do with them that I can't do with JPEG files.  With the JPEG files I can adjust the balance of whites and pretty much everything.  When you work on a raw image, I see no difference in what I can do.  However, the controls are there.  So, what is the difference?  Thank you for your help.

From a functional point of view, the RAW files are usually rather larger than JPEG files, but can be a joy to work with the help of Adobe's Camera Raw (the engine which results in Ps and Lr modifiable RAW).

    A few points:

    1. all JPEG images (from RAW files) are compressed down to a depth of 8 bits, so, technically, we don't work with almost as many possible colors as for RAW formats (which are the property of the manufacturer of the device). »

    2. According to what you read, you may fall on the apocryphal information that says "your camera does no change for RAW images that capture." It's not exactly the case: all the cameras 'interpret' the 'Photonics' image data entering the CMOS sensor from behind a table of Bayer (in general). Depending on which filter through the matrix Bayer, that a photon passes through, the camera interprets the electronic data from the CMOS as red, green or blue light. There are several other "interpretations" as well.

    3. on these two points: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/understanding-series/u-raw-files.shtml

    4. I found that with my digital SLR 'starter', (sad, sad) 10Mpx files aren't as pleasant to work with, say, my T3i 18Mpx files. So beware, if you have a camera Mpx lowest, you won't see much change with each increase in "Blacks" for example (or 'contrast', 'fill light' or 'brightness') than you will with a model more great.

But, working with RAW images, these other reasons and is better than to work with JPEG images. Link to this post Forums Adobe to learn more: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2690352

  • Qosmio G30 - what HARD disk are compatible for an upgrade

    Hey guys,.

I would like to upgrade the HARD drive in my G30 and don't know what's compatible.
At present, they are readers of stocks 120 GB MK1234GSX.

I foung the MK3252GSX (250GB) but it is ATA8, while current drives are ATA7.
    Is this a problem?

No one knows what larger capacity disks I can enter the G30?

    See you soon
    Gerald

What you need is a SATA HDD.
The G30 supports SATA controllers and that's why you should use hard drives SATA (and not the IDE)

    > I found the MK3252GSX (250GB) but it is ATA8, while current drives are ATA7.
    Is this a problem?
The new interface of ATA8 is faster than the ATA7 (133 MB/s) but it s compatible down to other ATA standards. Therefore, you can use the disk HARD of ATA8 too.

    > Anyone know what larger capacity disks I can enter the G30?
I don't know if you will be able to insert big hard drives 250 GB due to the limitation of the BIOS, but someone said that a 320 might be compatible as Mr. but I never tested tough, so I really don t know if it s true or not.

Download and install "Comodo Internet Security".  It of free and is a Full Internet security Suite"not a version watered down like some companies give you. It contains Anti-Malware, firewall and anti-virus, all in a single program. There is a paid upgrade, but all you get is a hotline. Link is below.

  • What DVD players are compatible with Equium A60 PSA67E?

my question; What dvd players are compatible for an equium a60 (psa67e-001001en)?

background; I did a very stupid thing! while I was at the Japan and about 18 months after buying my a60 in the United Kingdom, the packaged dvd player. I replaced it with a teac dvd player and it worked like a dream! I threw the old disk (I think it was a matsu * has, but can't remember the exact model). in any case, I came home and had a little time on my hands, so I decided to set my machine and corrupted the windows xp registry.

Now, windows xp runs in the loop, I can't access and I need to wipe the hard drive and start again essentially. I put the recovery disk in, but the computer doesn't read him and desperately wants his wacky way to windows. I believe that it is not recognizing the teac drive that I used to replace the old. I think that if I put an original return type, the firmware can recognize the drive and I'll be back in business... or so I hope!

of course, all the other tips would be welcome too! Thank you.

work around? PS a work around, I thought so... copy the contents of the diskette of recovery on a hard drive (using my old computer) can change the current hard drive in my a60 with it... theory; When the computer detects the content during the start-up, it will install xp on another part of this drive and I have a working machine once again. could - this something like this work? any thoughts?
