• BlackBerry Smartphones active new SIM - now phone SOS only

  Hi all. Have a little problem. I had to go back to an old 9700 When my current iPhone broke. I needed a new card SIM from the iPhone using a different card. When I called Rogers to activate the SIM everything was fine for about a minute. I received texts that were pending since Sunday when my iPhone broke. I had full bars etc. Once a minute, he went to SOS only. While I was on the phone with Rogers Tech Support I have reset and removed the battery and SIM and all the things they wanted me to. Everything looks good on their system, he said that the problem must be with the device.

  Now, I get the same problem with my brother-brother SIM. SOS only. No connection. What happened when active Rogers SIM card must have done something to the camera itself because now it does not connect to any of them. That both SIMs work as I have tested both in my wife's phone.

  The guy on the Support of Rogers suggested that perhaps the closed phone itself - but when I enter the settings advanced for the SIM card that everything is disabled in customization... so it appears not to be locked.

  He said that I should try to reinstall the OS, but that it will block the phone and I need to unlocked again.

  Is there anything else it could be? Will reinstall the OS relock the phone? Any other suggestions?

  First this... avoid this tech Rogers like the plague. He has no idea what he's talking about. All what he told you is simply not possible. Once MEP unlocked, a BB device can blocked at the factory. Nothing of what you have done or the facilities of any OS can relock a BB.

  I'd rather a complete security on the Device Wipe:

  Otherwise, a ResetToFactory WIPE:

  After each one, put it in the SIM card and switch on the device, and then make sure that the voice is through Rogers. Only then start to worry about getting all the data to work (if you subscribe BIS, in other words).

  If you want to get off the OS Reload path, then the easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do this on MAC):

  (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below. (not applicable in your situation)

  2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

  (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

  This error code indicates a problem with the battery.  Your best option is to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  They should be able to determine if the MBA requires a new battery or if there is a problem with the internal connection.

  First of all, don't be surprised if a forum moderator deletes your image since it includes the service of your system and for some reason number any makes them have a cow.

  Looking for your resume, it said indeed that you are currently under a single warranty parts August 2016.

  An only parts guarantee means technical support Dell accepts a call from you and solve problems with you and if they determine that a spare part is needed they will ship it to you that you install (or have installed by a person at your charge).  The good news is that shipped parts usually come with a confirmation email with a link to the installation instructions.  So there is a good chance that you will be able to install the part of yourself.  In addition, they may or may not require that you return the defective part.  Carefully read the paperwork accompanies the spare part or you subsequently receive an invoice for the replacement part if you need to return the defective part, but did not.

  As stated in the fine print at the bottom of the image you provided, batteries are not necessarily covered by the warranty.  Only batteries guarantees of Dell for the first year.  After that, they are not covered by the warranty of the system.  You're in your third year of warranty for this system, so unless you have purchased a new battery from Dell in the past year, then the battery is out of warranty.

  Extended warranties generally do not make sense (are not a good value) except on expensive systems.  Most of the failures are the cause of some accidents (spillage, unit dropped) and bit of warranty Dell cover "accidental damage".

  The most common repairs for laptops are replacements of flat screens, replacement of hard drive and keyboard replacements.  Each of these parts are well below $75 and are all pretty easy to install by a very practical person.  The more difficult would be a disk replacement because it's hours to reload the OS, updates, drivers, your software and your data... Often, people just buy a new system rather than make the effort to rebuild all the software from a hard drive failure.   Also most credit cards extend the warranty from the factory for an extra year doing a Dell warranty like two a year.

  It's different between a monolithic lock manager and not using a base.

  Databases such as DB2 uses a lock manager to manage the locking. Each lock requires allocating memory for the data to be stored in the segment of memory locking the lock manager.

  When there are tons of locks, memory becomes a problem--tons of memory is necessary. The result is a scalability issue. The locks more there, more memory is needed. And sooner or later, there may be more locks requested that the available free memory and what then? The database cannot / should not all of a sudden throw his hands in the air and tell customers "+ sorry, not enough memory for locks, you cannot lock any more data - please wait for existing to be released locks +".

  While the database means instead is "+ climbing locks +". You can have 10 000 on table Foo row locks. So instead of storing 10,000 entries of online memory locking, this gets back to page locks - and the number of locks was reduced to a 100 page locking. Only now, there are lines being locked on the pages that you do not want to block. But it's the only way to reduce your 10 000 locks memory footprint.

  Same page locks get escalated. It is a very large table and your process now ends with 10 000 page locks. Same problem as before. So now the database escalates the locking from page to table lock - and lock the entire table (and all its lines) for you. It is therefore able to replace 10 000 page locks of your processes with a single table lock.

  This of course causes locking conflict. You can only lock the 50% of the large table... and now winded up to 100% of blocking and prevents any other process of locking rows in this table that you are not interested in locking.

  This makes expensive lock in these databases. The more locks, the higher the memory load. The more locks, more likely to lock conflict. (caused by locking lines irrelevant too)

  Oracle does not have a monolithic lock manager. Each data block (the smallest unit of data storage used by Oracle) has slots for locking. So the price for locking data storage is paid up front - no additional memory is required. When Oracle needs memory, you can rinse Sales blocks on the disk... where early or late it will be read into memory and cleaned.

  So if you have a row or row locks lock 1 billion in Oracle, makes no difference. Overhead costs are the same. There are not. (and so no need for Oracle to ever climb locks)

  And for this reason, Oracle can evolve much better than most other databases that need to allocate the memory to manage the locking.

  I think you mean the text stating "x of there matches", to the right of the box where you entered the search term.

  The first number ("x" in my example above) indicates the current entry highlighted on the page that matches the search phrase. If you use the upper and down arrows to navigate through the instances of this term on the page, you will see this number go up and down.
