Hello

Here's the original specifications. your T40 left the factory with:

ThinkPad T40 (2374-BG9)

Based on 2374-8CU: P M 1.5 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB 5400 RPM HARD drive, XGA(1024x768) 14.1 TFT LCD, 32 MB ATI Radeon 7500, x - 8 24 x DVD (slim), Modem (CDC), Ethernet (LOM), upgradeable Wireless, Secure Chip (TCPA), UltraNav, battery 6 cells, WinXP Pro

"Scalable wireless" means that your T40 has not left the factory with a wireless card installed. However, IBM used this marketing term to indicate that the model has antennas wireless installed in the cover of the LCD Assembly and can easily get a mini-PCI Wireless card added. I opened dozens of T40 (including, I believe, some listed as 'wireless extensible') and I've never found one that doesn't have an internal wireless card installed. It seems most of these units have been upgraded with a card wireless at some point in their history. I also have a theory that many of these units 'scalable wireless' were purchased in bulk and had massive facilities by a secondary party wireless cards / technicians before being sold to the final retail market. It's just a theory of mine.

The T40 to East came with the three following of 'B' wireless cards:

WiFi wireless dual band ThinkPad 11 a/b PCI card adapter

Cisco Aironet Wireless 802. 11 b

Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI adapt

These are the official names designated in service parts system - ThinkPad T40, T40p, T41, T41p, T42, T42p. It was all 'B' wireless adapters, but T40 can easily be upgraded to some of the 'G' wireless cards you see listed for the T42.

There is only one way to know for sure which (if any) wireless card your T40 has. You will need to remove the keyboard and take a look under the hood. Follow the steps described in the Manual of Maintenance of equipment - ThinkPad T40, T40p, T41, T41p, T42, T42p. Then we can help you locate the appropriate drivers.

Here are a few movies with step by step instructions that can help you and others who can be read:

    Hello

First, I'm sorry for the bad English because I'm french.
My laptop is L300 - 19F with Vista.

I reinstalled Windows Vista and I downloaded the drivers, but there is a problem:
on the site, on the page to download the drivers, there are a lot of drivers for a component.

For example, Firmware Update (2 versions) or Modem Driver (3 versions) or Modem region Select utility (2 versions) or Wireless Lan Driver (2 versions), there are many version and I don't know that I have to take.

In addition, what are the necessary drivers for proper use?

    Thank you very much!

Did you install the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery disk? The disk from Toshiba are all the drivers and tools.

  • What drivers to install after installing Windows 7?

I am trying to reinstall Widows7 x 64 on a new HARD drive because the INTELLIGENT detection shows the imminent failure.

I made an image, saved on a remote disk, made a boot disk, put the new HARD drive in, disconnected the old HDD and tried to install.

It gets to the point where it says install drivers. I used the windows OEM disc... but I don't know what drivers he needs?

I reconnected the old HDD, new & it reinstalled Windows on the old disk, always showing failure.

    What should I do?

    Thank you...

"On the" select Restore Options ", the checkbox is grayed out '-I don't know if it of significant or not.  I have my HARD drive partitioned so I always have this option.  It is possible that, because you have only reserved partition but not other partitions split the disc it greys on this box because there is nothing interesting to do.

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've reached the point that you have achieved.  I got new HARD drive in a USB docking station to check I had configured the volume and, if it is possible that reassembly & formatting the drive had indeed fixed all the problems when I woke up, Acronis was available, so I used it instead.  I could have at that time there another chance by using Windows tools and finally, he might have worked - but I was sick & tired of the rigmarole of here there and I wanted to just work.  I don't know the reason for Acronis restore to succeed but Windows restore failed, but the multitude of reports in saying this forum which was what had happened to them have convinced me to install it and I'm very glad I did.

    There is no need to make a boot Acronis Disk, such that he can do the job while only under Windows.  It can restore the image of your new HARD drive while it is in its USB docking station [but you can choose to make a boot disk and do with snug HARD drive, if you wish].  When you talk to recover a disk, it allows you to identify the image to restore from IRA.  It will then ask you where you want to restore to.  There is a tab help left and he explains the procedure in a section called data recovery, partitions and the recovery disks.     {In summary, to select the image on your Passport drive, you navigate within the Windows to the subfolder called backup image and select the vhd file - Acronis could be automatically recognized and be displayed in the window already.}  After selecting the image to recover from, it will allow you to select the destination of the image to retrieve to.}

Download and install any Satellite Pro C660 drivers for your Windows System. In case you are using Win 7 32 bit, download Win7 32-bit drivers

    > 2. How can I when my Toshiba can't connect to the internet.
I guess you are able to access the internet because you have posted here in the forum.
So why you n t download and store all the drivers on a USB key where you could launch the driver installation.

  • What drivers Win 7 are required for Satellite L750

    Excuse me...
I am a new owner of Toshiba L750. I can see this (huge) drivers list, but here he ara utility all TOSHIBA aswell.

According to me, colleagues asked (as I am), which are the NECESSARY drivers for instalation of W7x64 new good/work. Personally, I don't want ALL the Toshiba Utilities. All I want is a 'fresh' W7x64 instalation and my laptop works well. That's all...

So, I don't think that we need no more than 10 to 14 pilots, fine setup our laptops.
    Then, WHAT drivers are needed?

    Hello

    > All I want is a 'fresh' W7x64 instalation and my laptop works well. That's all...

The fact is that the laptops provide many more features such as a common desktop PC

But you can install a new OS without any Toshiba and Utility tool and, of course, you can use laptop with some current drivers.

If you n t need to use the features of the laptop as Fn, multimedia keys, face reorganization, HDD protection, Eco utility keys (and so on) then you can install the right display, LAN driver, touchpad, WLan driver, webcam driver driver driver, driver BT and mobile phone you should work fine

Had to reinstall Windows XP pro using a version full of XP disc.

Device Manager displays eight articles that I need drivers for, and I can't find the driver downloads to use from the 100s available for download on the Toshiba site. I list below what device manager reads and I'd appreciate any help to identify what drivers are needed.

    Ethernet controller
    Ethernet controller
    Multimedia Audio device
    Modem PCI
    Video controller
    Video controller (VGA Compatible)

This laptop has been presented to me by a friend without manuals or recovery information. Windows could not load at all so I had to get a XP disk and I did a clean install. Disk Management displays the HARD drive as an unknown partition recovery partition and I am not able to access. The research I've done, it seems that he is allowed to install windows manually but I'm not sure that drivers Device Manager displays as needed. I know that there is a sticker on the laptop that says he uses Atheros wi - fi. The Toshiba site has so many downloads, even after I refine your search, I'm still confused.

Once again my thanks to all those who can help you.

Should Lenovos Web site, what drivers I install? Everything that applies to windows 8.1? Or do I need to install the drivers for windows 8 first, then for windows 8.1?

And do I have to install all?

Thank you in advance for your help!

In an upgrade process, Setup usually picks up device drivers which he uses packaged drivers in the program installation or the internet and upgrades the drivers too. Even if we can't say that all drivers are made compatible with the new version of windows or the drivers are more recent. Therefore, this is the reason why I asked you to check the Device Manager to see if there are all the drivers installed.
