  In my opinion, you should check the cooling options in Windows power management. Make sure that it s set for maximum Performance. This means that your laptop will be cooled as much as possible.

  I put t know how long you have this laptop already but maybe that cleaning is also an option.

  If the drivers are up to date, and there is nothing in the history of the reliability or the event logs, so I don't know in this case.   The size is okay as long as the data rate is something the screen can swallow. AVI is just a container, what matetrs is the CoDec used inside. In any case, I would consider it a moot point. Based on your description you use DivX or H.264 probably since it's what decoder of these chips are made and you very well without problem once you realize that. All what matters is to balance the quality compared to a rate of data appropriate, then in turn the file size and for all intentions and purposes, which could be about 20 MB only, even at full resolution HD Basicalyl you would simply take your existing AVI and Matadi via Adobe Media Encoder using a preset. most of them by default for 6-8 Mbps, which is fine for most tasks, but don't hesitate to go higher. Just keep in mind that there may be a limit frequency of data in the chip decoder in the TV itself, so don't worry too much and maybe look for specifications on this...
