What is 802.11bn?

On my Cisco WLC 5500 Series > surveillance > customers, I see a bunch of clients connected than 802.11 g and 802.11bn.  I understand that 802.11 g and 802. 11B is 2.54 Ghz band 802.11n is 5.0 Ghz, but what exactly it means when he tells me the client protocol of the device is 802.11bn? Is this to say that the client may be connected to 5.0 Ghz or 2.54 Ghz? I was not able to find a lot of documentation on "802.11bn." Thank you

Best regards

Sean

Hi Sean,.

802.11n is 5.0Ghz, but what exactly does it mean when it tells me the client protocol for the device is 802.11bn?

802.11n, it can be either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.

So, if it is listed as 802.11bn, it means it's a2.4GHz 802.11n client.

  • How to maximize speeds with a Broadcom AC and R7000 card?

    Hi all
I've updated my motherboard Asus Maximus VII impact with a Broadcom 802.11ac integrated network card. I think this is the model that bcm43xac_nt61 based on the device ID.

On my band 5 GHz network, it will connect and if I click with the right button on the network and click on State of speed is listed at 866,5 Mbit/s. If I move the mouse over the network, it lists what it 802.11n and no ca. I get only 1-2 bars on the 5 GHz if band. With that, I can download steam up to 4.2 MB/s. I think it should be much larger.

On my 2.4 Ghz network, I get 2 to 4 bars, speed is 144.0 Mbps, and I get up to 3.9 Mbps downloads.

I have WMM active on the router, but, but not sure of what another tweak for this card. I changed a bunch of settings for my previous intel 7260, but erset after I got rid of this.

    Any ideas?

    See you soon,.
    Alex

I changed all the settings. Immediately made the signal to jump her four-bar and then slowly go down to 1 or 2. Not much difference in download speed.

But, I got a new Optimum modem, one with Docsis 3.0, the Arris TG862G and she welcomed my dl speeds for up to approximately 7.0 MB/s. Much better.

Should I look for in get one of the high range Surfboard modems to increase speeds?

And is there anything else you guys can think about the Broadcom adapter or the router to further increase the DL speeds?

This is the antenna supplied with my motherboard. I would be better with a standard antenna?

Spare antennas put like this will do anything or is it just gadget? How is it that they don't list it as 802.11ac compatible list?

    Thanks again

    See you soon

  • Question of ESX 4 Networking

    Scenario:

I have 4 natachasery on my host ESX 4 that I use for my machine virtual network vSwitch (port group).  I have 2 physical switches I want to split my 4 connections Teddy everywhere for redundancy.

    Issues related to the:

    • I have to do something special on the side pSwitch to configure NETWORK adapter ports to handle all the 4 natachasery is a unique vSwitch?

    • What about 2 to each pSwitch?

    • If I choose to master these links with 802.3ad (2 natachasery to each pSwitch):

      • This will require that the vSwitch is configured as IP based hashing or can it be the default value for the Port ID load balancing?

      • Need something config between the pSwitches to manage the switch 802.3ad cross this config?  I read to ESX3 802.3ad configs needed to end in the pSwitch even if the pSwitches was not the ag highend cross-switch features.

      • If 802.3ad is an option, which is generally considered best practice.  Do not group the links or use 802.3ad?

    • If I want to enable the VLAN Tagging (802. 1 (q) on the top of this config, is ther any other special considerations for 802.3ad or not?  What of 802. 1 q on links not aggregated?

When I speak of our network guys they see 4 natachasery and want to 802.3ad (Etherchannel) them together.  If it's convenient, I'd rather just the mobile extra part of 802.3ad out of the picture.

Not if you use one algorithm other than Hash load balancing IP.

    • What about 2 to each pSwitch?

    Ditto

Yes - Hash IP is required when you use 802.3ad.

Yes, your pSwitches should cross-switch 802.3ad (sometimes called a stackable switch)

    • If 802.3ad is an option, which is generally considered best practice.  Do not group the links or use 802.3ad?

I usually recommend against 802.3ad unless you KNOW that you get performance using. With four natachasery (I'm assuming that 1 Gbps), chances are good that you won't be constrained bandwidth, so you probably won't see all the 'real' benefits of the aggregation of links. In fact, on everything that you're going to win is the complexity.

    • If I want to enable the VLAN Tagging (802. 1 (q) on the top of this config, is ther any other special considerations for 802.3ad or not?  What of 802. 1 q on links not aggregated?

Nope - others that by ensuring that your pSwitch supports .1Q - oh, don't forget that all ports are configured on the trunk (tunnel) all the VLANS. If you have one of your ports of pSwitch that does not allow one (or more) of your VLANs, you can end up with a hard to resolve the condition where a virtual machine can speak except when it cannot

A lot of people networking still don't understand how VMware treats multiple uplinks. First of all, ESX made 802.3ad static - so no LACP or other supported protocols dynamics. Load Balancing is done on a per-conversation basis, so you won't benefit from several implementations of "smart". It's convenient, and in many cases (most?), I would say favorite, simply use the algorithm (vSwitch port based) balancing of load by default and be done with it.

Hello! My AirPort Express (802.11a/b/g) lights no more. I think he lost his power. What should I do to restore its power?

If AirPort Express light does not illuminate, this indicates that the internal power supply inside the Express did not, and the device will need to be replaced.

If you really a 802.11a/b/g in the Express version, it is at least 8 years old and probably much older than that.  Average life of this product was about 3-4 years, then you have had surprisingly good luck with your product.

  • Satellite 5200-802 - what HARD drive can I use?

    Hello

I have a 5200-802 Satellite with a 80 GB HDD (IDE) and I would build in more.

I would like to know what is the largest room, which will be accepted by this laptop. Is it 100 GB or 120 GB, 160 GB or 250 GB or 400GO or?
    Who manufactures?

    Everyone knows?

    Thanks in advance
    Jürgen

What do you think is the biggest HARD drive you can use?
I think that this question can be easily answered: it s a HARD drive to 120 GB because the laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits in the IDE. If you want to know more about this please consult this website: http://www.48bitlba.com

If you need a 120 GB 2.5 HARD drive and you can buy each production. I have good experiences with Seagate and Hitachi.

  • What is best modem cable to twin with new extreme apple 802.11 ac

I have an old motorola sb6121 paired with new apple 802.11ac extreme I bought yesterday and after 12 hours of trying everything I keep getting disconnected every few seconds... I have read all the message concerned and tried them all to play nice... When I have more signals 85 Mbps because I pay for the explosion of comcast.  I want a new modem and would like to know what is recommended... I see zoom 5141j is recommended, but I see zoom a modem cable new 16 x 4... It would be to my advantage to go with vx 16 x 4 8 x 4 channels at the time of the twinning with extreme? Thank you

What is best modem cable pair with the new 802.11ac Apple extreme

Questions like this are indeed impossible to answer... especially because that person has tested every modem with an AirPort Extreme to see if there is really a modem 'best '.  Even if it were possible to come with a modem 'best' but... it would be judicious bit to choose this modem and then knowledge that was not supported by Comcast.

Therefore, a better plan for you may be to search a list of modems supported by Comcast, narrow your choices down to 3-4 products, then post this list here and ask other users of Comcast comments on how the products have performed for them.  You can also consider posting on a forum online from Comcast as well.

Regarding your question about the new Zoom modem, this product is really new, so it will be some time before a work experience can be developed for this product. It seems that the new Zoom modem is designed primarily for working with connections to high speed... 600, 700, 800 + Mbps Internet speeds. So, unless you plan to upgrade to a plan of Internet connection with these types of speeds in the near future, you probably don't need a modem with this type of functionality.

  • What 802.11n card internal work with a Compaq CQ60-212US?

I hope to upgrade the laptop above to 802.11n, but I'm unable to find information on what the internal cards will work for her. It's an AMD Athlon X 2 sytem wiyh a Nvidia nforce chipset running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. The card he uses currently (802. 11 b / G) is a card Atheros 5007 based (part #459339-003). Base HP/Compaq made an Atheros 802.11n 5009 (manufacturer 482260-001) card which I believe may work, but my model is not listed in the compatibility list and I know that HP/Compaq are one of the companies that uses a 'white list' in the BIOS to prevent unauthorized devices to use.  I tried to ask by e-mail and they would not check the number and directed me to call their purchases as part Surfer do not have the list. I called and they said, there is one that would work but it is out of stock and they have no ETA on this subject and of course would not check the number. Any info on 802.11n cards that would work in this laptop that I would like to upgrade to high speed and that the ethernet connection is part of the chipset (even though Device Manager it ID as a 10/100/1000 is only 10/100 ) it is the only road I have so any information would be appreciated.

-After much research and hitting my head against the wall, I finally got my laptop upgraded using a HP 482260-001 internal NIC (a card Atheros 5009) based manufacturer and now have an 300Mbps connection solid of rock all the time. I know I've read a lot of the problems with this card so I thought I'd post a brief overview of what I had to do.

First - before Exchange you cards (unless you can connect to a wired LAN cable outlet) download the latest driver from HP for the Atheros card - even if this computer only provided with the card (5007 based) G the downloaded driver supports card 5009 N. depends on how do you the next step, you can save the file on a USB Flash drive.

Following installation the new card and either do a system restore to the point where the updates of Microsoft are deleted (it will mess up wireless connections - this too is a XP updates)-well mine did not for the next option was to do a full system restore to put the laptop to a 'new' State but mine has NEVER worked since the restore disks , I did or since the restore partition, so that leaves one last (option in addition to the PURCHASE of a set of disks to restore HP that they tried to sell me or uninstallation of 56 upgrades ONE BY ONE). If you know someone who has a Vista installation disc to borrow it and use the option UPGRADE to install the same version that you use the SAME key from the bottom of your laptop - this route 'upgrade' will restore your system with the original copy of Vista without losing any of your installed programs where are you got your restore to work , you would be at square one - you be the judge. Before anyone questions the legality of my last method here is the real deal - when you buy copy of Windows or a computer, you are not 'buy' Windows software - you pay for the license (as the key) to use a copy (unless you buy a copy of multi license) on a computer if Windows or use the method as long as you use YOUR key to install the SAME version of Windows is no legal - my installation activated with absolutely no problem and shows it as authentic.

OK - now if you need to re - install the driver updated for the Atheros card and at that time you should be able to connect to your wireless network. In my case, it would only connect at 54Mbps, and it turns out he was addicted to router and nothing to do Wicker card or driver. I had read that Vista doesn't like WEP so I stop ALL security/encryption on the router and NIC (not a good idea in general, but just to test) and the connection turned up to 300Mbps (no, not the max of 270Mbps reported some have reported with this card). I tried to change security settings and he kept falling back to 54 Mbps and then I spotted this in the sidebar of my router (Netgear WNR3500) aid:

"To achieve maximum wireless performance, as WN511B must connect to this router with the help of WPA2(with AES). «For the clients that connect to WPA - PSK (with TKIP), maximum speed wireless will be 802.11 g.»

So I put the router for the listed specifications before and my Atheros card stuck to the solid 300Mbps. This last part watch is obviously a problem of router/nic as before when I was running mobile WEP another computer security (brand begins with G ;-)) was ongoing execution using a card Linksys under XP (a plug in one on the side) to 270Mbps but now under new security my Compaq runs on 300Mbps, my 'G' works to 270Mbps and my cable network is running at 1000Mbps, and everybody is happy!)

The next step is to reinstall the updates of Windows one or 2 at a time until those that trashes the connection lies - uninstall and it block. When I get to this point I'll post the update # (unless someone beats me to it). It's a very summarized race to the bottom, so if you have any questions please message but I wanted people to know it's possible!

  • What bandwidth is reasonable on 802.11 g?

In this post, I was initially going to complain that I couldn't connect to my E4200 using the option 'Wireless-N', but looking closer it turns out that my adapter wireless (Atheros AR5001) can't stand that a/b/g, even if the specifications of my computer (an ASUS eeePC 901) claim the contrary.

In any case, at present I get about 25 MB/s on the wireless, which is quite a bit lower than the theoretical 56 Mbps. I'm not more than 2-3 meters from the router, and I have line-of-sight permanently. I use WPA2 Personal security and the 'Channel' and 'Channel width' options are both set to "Auto".

It would be possible to achieve at least something like 40 to 50 Mb/s by adjusting my settings, and if so, what parameters should be replaced by what?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: Oh yes, and I have the latest firmware. (1.0.02)

25 Mbps is excellent and is about as far as you can get with 802. 11 g. I think that 50% of the theoretical limit is generally considered to be the maximum effective transfer rate.

Usually, I see something of up to 21 Mbps with my computer on different access points.

  • What are users with Cisco 802.11n 802.11ac WLAN APs running on Low Power?

    Experts Sars WLAN,

I'm new on a big installation WLAN here and noticed that not only the AIR-CAP2702I-E-K9 communicate on the Management Station first central and many changes of low-power 2.4 GHz antenna power level.

People here tell me that it is not harmful, but I am slightly dubious and would like your opinion here.

WLAN access points are activated with 2.4 and 5 GHz-antennas and shoot only 15.4 Watt following switch.

Interface Admin Oper Power (Watts) class of device
Of the PS to the device
    --------- ------ ---------- ---------- ---------- ------------------- -----

"APis running on Low Power." Please disable Radio one and reset the access point to get full power on the other radio. »

The access point is configured for 802.11n on both bands and 802.11ac on 5 GHz.

I can also see many Power Level change on the 2.4 Ghz antenna.

Here people are complaining about downtime on laptops for SAP applications.

Also a voice over WLAN installation does not work very well.

But I don't know if this has something to do with low power.

What are the consequences for WLAN users in this scenario?

Changes in the level of power can cause interruptions to users of WIFI?

Is 'Low-Power' - Situation responsible for a large amount of sending changes to feeding on 2.4 GHz?

Who knows more and has experience with low-power facilities?

Thank you for any comments on this

    Wini

    Just to add

What are the consequences for WLAN users in this scenario?

    * Anything, just change really the number of antennas is used

Changes in the level of power can cause interruptions to users of WIFI?

    * Change in power level, do not make changes to string

Is 'Low-Power' - Situation responsible for a large amount of sending changes to feeding on 2.4 GHz?

    * No.

Who knows more and has experience with low-power facilities?

You should focus on your environment and what you see. With low power due to the PoE does not affect the user experience.  If your access point changes the power too high or too low, you can introduce some poor duplication of coverage or channel.  If you are also in a building/space tenant shared, other installs nearby Wireless will affect your RF and yours will have an impact on their. Nothing we can do.  You must set customer issues before assuming what is wrong, that nothing could be wrong.  The updated client drivers is also a good thing to do to eliminate this problem.
