What is C:\$Recycle.Bin and what I can delete it? Vista

What is C:\$Recycle.Bin and what I can delete it? Vista

simple but impossible question to find the answer. There is no corruption or anything just that it's big - 7 GB and waste space on the hard disk.

From what I understand it has the recycling bins of all the user profiles on the computer... I wouldn't delete the folder. I would, however, is to check your bin on the desktop. When you delete items, they put themselves in the recycling bin. Then you need to remove them completely empty. Its kinda like a fail safe. Check box if you want the stuff in there and empty to reclaim your space, might need to open a session for each user if you have more than 1. You can also change the amount of space reserved for the recycling bin to the right by clicking on the icon then go to properties.

hope that helps

    Perhaps.

"Deleting" a file does not actually delete it marks just the space
also available to be used. There are third-party programs that can
sometimes recover deleted files. The problem is that the space used by
the file is likely to be replaced very quickly, and it makes
    the unrecoverable file.

So your chances of successfully recover this file are decent if you
Try it again immediately after the deletion of it and go quickly
downhill from there. If you have used the computer since then (for
example to write this question and read this answer), your chances may
    be very poor now.

But if the file is large enough, it's still worth a try. Stop
using the computer in question immediately, if you have not done
already. Download an undelete program (and here's one:)
    http://www3.TELUS.NET/mikebike/restoration.html but there are several
others to choose from; Do a search) on a friend's computer (do not
it on yours because that would overwrite the files you want
Undelete) and bring it to you on a CD or thumb drive to try.

If that fails, your only recourse is to bring or send the disc
a company of professional file recovery. This kind of service is very
expensive and may or may not work in your case.

Mine is 1023 MB. I saw someone almost 5000 MB.

Increase size, play with the numbers until the darn bac actually works the way it should be.

How and if I can get the vista OEM disc. Install win 8 did not know that it would take on my vista os that Microsoft wants everyone to high grade don't like win 7 and win 8 is not working properly I want to reinstall vista. Laptop has been used without disk key code.

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • need help on history, recycle bin and cookies: how will I know what someone has done on my laptop?

I would like to learn more about history on my computer vista laptop microsoft and more on maybe the trash and or cookies. For example, someone else used my laptop last night and delete everything that he was looking at or for then how can I know what it was?

Assuming that it has not been removed, you can view the history of visited web sites by clicking on the Favorites button, click the history tab.

The only things in the trash are files or folders that have been removed from the system (no evidence they have been read or something like that).

Cookies will not tell you anything either because they are terms in the code and you can not tell what web site they belong - no good for tracking not web history (and they apply only to the history of the web).

You can view the Start / recent items to display some of the files which were recently seen (assuming that the list has not been removed).  That may help some.  You can also go to C:\Users\\Recent for a longer list of recently accessed files (as long as you know the user name).

There is actually very little that you can do with hindsight to see what anyone seen or done on your computer.

If you want to implement such a procedure, use the Parental http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Set-up-Parental-Controls control and activity reports control Parentalhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Set-up-Parental-Controls-activity-reports.  Do this for each account you want to track.  Then you can check what you wish now that you could check.

    I hope this helps.
