• Card TV Tuner for M55 S139

  Hey guys... I'm new to this forum, but my first question. I have a Satellite M55 S139 and I was wondering if it had built in TV Tuner card or if I had to buy an (impossible to find info on this subject). The computer was shipped with XP, but not with the Media Center and I want to transfer movies I have on my laptop and may also use it as a DVR. I know it can be done, but you should know (if necessary) what type of tuner card would work better with this laptop model.

  The M55 is the American model and it should be similar to the European M50 and there is certainly no TV tuner inside. This means that you must use an external solution. In my opinion, you should consult your dealer and check all available commands. I'm sure he can recommend the best and also the cheapest option. When you buy external tuner TV will be delivered to the appropriate software, you can watch TV without MCE.

  For transfer of movies there are a lot of different solutions, but I do not know where these films are registered (VHS or camcorder).

  What I need to know, is what card TV Tuner/Capture internal should I go for as the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150 does not work well beyond 4 GB of RAM. To use it, so I need to limit my RAM less than 4 GB.
  The quality is good enough to view and capture. But I don't want to use the work around or reduce my RAM.

  Please suggest me a good internal TV Tuner/Capture card that works with my PC config and allow good capture. I also intend to upgrade to Windows 7

  I wonder if anyone know or recommend, what signatures to tune in when a customer asks to signature tuning. There are approximately 3000 + signatures, so that we start with, and is there a common/best practices for tuning of signature.

  Mike, I wish that I had an easy answer for you, but like most things in life it takes hard work.

  Signature development is something that should happen after an analysis of the event.

  You can start by choosing your heavy weight and looking at why these events are fireing.

  Ask yourself, are these events that I want to see? Are they REAL intrusions of are they false positivies? Are they usable?

  You can then disable signatures that provide no value to you, put down the severity of those that you can not do anything to the subject but still want to know (for example scanning for example) and to build filters for guests you know trigger signatures that you want to keep active (as if you were running a scanner vulneribility in your network).

  After the time you would have all of the signatures and filters that fit the environment, in that the probe has been placed.

  It is hard work and you must watch your packet captures to see what is happening, but it's how signatures are tuned.

  That would be the best solution. One installed is reacts as if it's been corrupted and no longer works correctly. Uninstall and download the version update your laptop support portal and install it.
