What is Regedit and how it relates to the HP printing software?

Regedit is a Windows program that allows you to edit the registry keys that control the PC. It contains a complete list of all the equipment of the system and information; and a single incorrect change here can completely break your computer forever.  It is strongly recommended that you contact a professional if you have been invited to go in this order.  Most often associated with Center HP solutions and other software that is not installed, you will see here in this post (step 26) when she suggests doing a complete scrub to remove all the files on a computer not HP HP. This is a real document that suggest going into the registry to solve an access denied Error Message.

HP and its users of the forum are volunteers and highly skilled individuals who can give you the suggestion, but, so far, it was left to the HP printer customer curious to find the means to do so.  If this saves you the headaches and the possible destruction of your computer for me to publish this information so I'll do it, but keep in mind this isn't the place for beginners, and there are an infinite number of potential mistakes that can be made.  This is a very confusing place and all information about the deletion of the keys in order to find the set of features is left to the interpretation of the reader, leaving more room for error.

1. How do not a mistake
one) BACK UP THE REGISTRY before you begin.  Before editing the registry, it is recommended to create a restore point using System Restore.  You can also export the registry file in a new folder saved on your desktop where it is easily accessible. To export, open the registry editor by clicking the Start button, type regedit in the search bar, and you will see at the top of the list.  Click on regedit.exe and after it opens, select the file and then export it.  Save wherever you want, but the Office will be the best place to return to if you make a mistake.  I recommend calling something that is easy to remember and very obviously is named in the case where you need to pick it up later.

(b) TAKE YOUR TIME.  Do not rush or try to clean the registry of everything related to HP if you have an HP computer, if you're not fully awake and aware, and if you are not sure of the source guide you.

(c) If you have an HP computer, do NOT touch the registry.  There is no safe way to tell except KEEP OUT.  You are looking for something here, while with good intentions on research only the printer, you have problems.  A system restore and registry backup is not guaranteed to save 100% of the time.  Contact HP or find an alternative for what anyone, you need your HP printer to do.

2. how to correct an error
(a) you can click on the saved file that ends with an extension of registration file (.reg).  A window pops up that says "adding information can unintentionally change or delete values and make the components to stop working correctly.  If you do not trust the source of this information, do not add it to the registry.  "Are you sure you want to continue?" If you click YES you will see "the keys and the values contained in this place have been added successfully to the registry" if all goes well. Click OK and your changes will be restored.

(b) this document from Microsoft gives instructions on how to do a system restore in XP and here is a link about the restoration of the system in Windows 7, as well as the frequently asked questions.  It is good to have several backup plans before committing to something that you don't know much.

3. Why do I need to do this?
(a) it is not only a problem with the HP software, but software in general tends to leave behind a mess in the registry, even after having made a simple uninstall.  This would be used CCleaner along the coast or other record cleaning software remove left on the keys that do nothing except that the installation programs.  The setup package search a specific folder and not the content it contains.  If it finds this empty folder during the installation, you will never get your beloved software on your computer, this center of HP, HP Printer Wizard or other facilities failed solutions.  Here's a reference any order posted by IBM regarding a failed BIOS installation.

4. how to do this safely?
The only way to do it safely is to hire a professional who has a lot of experience in this field and knows exactly what it is that he or she is looking and the case.  However, this option is not always available.  Do not perform these steps when in a hurry, a bad mood, tired, or after 5 hours of troubleshooting previous as this is when the user gets tired and errors often do.

5. how to modify registry keys to HP?
Like I said before, it is likely that the software has been working at any given time.  Sometimes uninstalling software on an unstable platform as an old PC can leave these files in the registry.  It's why I do a uninstall/reinstall of the software the last resort when you are troubleshooting because there is often a fix for the problem without having to uninstall something every time that the printer mess up. Here are the steps to search for these missing files and delete them:

(a) once you have regedit open, drag the centerline on so that you can see all the names of files or open it in full screen.  Skip the first key called HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.  You will not find what you are looking for here.

(b) a click on the arrow to the left of HKEY_CURRENT _USER expands to show all files under it.  You must click on each arrow until you see a HP folder.  If you see one, right click and delete it.  You don't have to remove all individual keys under this main folder, but if it's a little one, you can see a bit of value to the wide to the right of this screen among other keys not HP.  Remove only that relating to your printer by right-clicking and selecting delete.  If you arrive at a software folder, you can delete the HP folder and the Hewlett-Packard folder.  REMEMBER THAT THIS APPLIES ONLY TO COMPUTERS, NOT HP.

(c) continue this step at the bottom of the list, remove only the things that have to do with your printer and are obvious.  If in doubt, don't go out.  Follow along with your own progress is to close each file you have completed it.  Take your time.  If you are not comfortable here, so it's a clear sign, you need to call someone for help.  If so, try another method of registry cleaning, such as CCleaner and Advanced System Care until you can get the help you need.

6. what should I do now?
It is not necessary to restart the computer at this time.  If you look at options of analysis or trying to get your rear HP software, you will need to re - install the full feature software and drivers for your printer.  This isn't a post about how to fix your printer or its software, it is a message to warn users not only of the dangers to be found in this tool, but to guide you if you want to perform this step without professional assistance.  The last thing you want to do is break your computer in the process, but sometimes it is a mandatory step to fix but the information about this brand of printer isn't here so that everyone can find.  All I want to do is give the average user the information they need before doing something destructive and cannot back away from him.  Take your time and keep looking for other forums before you perform these steps on your own, especially if it's the first time, you have already been in this part of your computer.

These steps are not sponsored by HP and are really based on my personal experience and knowledge of others. If you have any questions I will do my best to respond, but the main point of this post is to remind you, if you have any questions you can come back to another option.
