What is the average size is C:\WINDOWS in home edition?

My windows folder is 8,72 GB on a single computer and 5,24 GB on my old computer.
Is excessive and that someone know the size of a blank windows folder?

  • The Vista is better than Windows XP Home edition?

    Hello

I installed vista, but is not supported & is unlikely to be the main programs I want to use with it! Is it because Vista is new, or Windows XP Home edition (which he runs under) is a better OS.

I read on the forum that WXP can be used in another partition. This would cause a problem? How would be affected other things like access to internet or e-mail if I used it in a partition?

Need help please, I'm lost and want to know the best thing to do.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Vista should be better than XP, but now many 3rd-party devices and programs are not compatible with Vista and therefore it s advisable to use two BONES; XP and Vista.
You can install the two OS s separately on two partitions.
    This should work.

With regard to the reception of the email: Please check where the e-mails are stored.
Especially as Outlook e-mail applications use a same folder of installation on the partition for saving e-mail. But the path can be changed in the settings somewhere.

A few words about Vista. As you probably n t know the needs of Vista a lot more material resources such as other early BONE. You will need a really fast and high performance for laptop or desktop PC to use all the features of Vista. I'm talking about the Aero glass effects, etc.

I am trying to gage how much space I need in their housing. Also if I can't stand instant in the same directory as the rest of virtual machine files, how I would Flash a different data store?

Basically, snapshots start at zero and increase when they are used. Snapshots should be very short term and therefore should not become large.

  • What is the best software dock for windows 7 home premium64 bits?

I am using windows 7 Home premium 64-bit. What is the best doc for my pc software...?

I think that atm Dock all programs DO NOT support native 64 so they will work, but some things do not work properly.
Don't come on a guy and him say no to install the 3rd party thing, I'm sorry, but the world revolves around more than the operating system.
I've been dying to use ObjectDock, but until they support 64-bit I won't use it until it runs as 32 bits, that was awesome.
Personally to customize my desktop atm I use hyper-desk which is an excellent add-on.

Hope this helps and if you have 8gig of ram in your system, then who cares programs how you have running.
I use less than 25% with all my WASTE running.

    Karthikeyan devalla.

    Karthikeyan Devalla,
Here are the instructions to remove some of the restore points using disk cleanup.  Your system is configured to record everything automatically on your computer at periodic points so if you need to restore your system files will be there.  But sometimes, you get more restore points that you want or need and he can eat a lot of disk space.  Here's how to control this.

You can use Disk Cleanup to remove points of restoration and the free space on the hard disk on your computer.

Disk removes the cleanup all but the last restore point on your computer. In some editions of Windows Vista, restore points can include previous versions of files. Previous versions are also deleted.

    1. open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button, tap all programs, accessories, click System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup.

    2. in the Disk Cleanup Options dialog box, click files from all users on this computer.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. If prompted, select the drive you want to clean, and then click OK.

    4. click the other Options tab.

    5. under System Restore and shadow copies, click Clean up, and then, in the confirmation dialog box, click on delete.

    6. If you want to continue using disk cleanup for other drives on your computer, click the Disk Cleanup tab. To quit Disk Cleanup, click Cancel.

  • Newly installed Windows XP Home Edition SP1a Version 2002 works not properly.

I have a Dell Dimension 4300 S and I recently installed Windows XP Home Edition SP1a Version 2002 from the disc I have. When I try to download the SP2 and SP3 from Microsoft I get this box that says "extraction error." I can't download anything and sometimes, when I'm on the internet on this computer, it says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" and I send error report and, sometimes gives me the blue screen and starts dumping memory. Also, it wont let me on the Windows Update page and the computer won't auto updates.

Does anyone know what is the problem? I reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition SP1a Version 2002 two or three times now and linked the repair disk, and I always get the same problems.
Let me know if I have to give any specs or whatever it is.

Love the help I'm getting here. :)

Sorry for the delay but this is a public forum, the vast majority of us here are simply users of Microsoft products (even those with MVP behine their names which is just an honorary title) as help you others when we can. We have no affiliation with Microsoft, nor do we receive any advantage whatsoever, we are just volunteers. Occasionally, a Microsoft employee can post but it's pretty rare. On your workstation.

After having reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition SP1a have you installed the necessary drivers? This includes drivers for the motherboard (chipset), audio, video, LAN (network adapter), and so on.  If this is not the case, check the page linked below:

    Drivers & downloads for Dimension 4300 S
     http://support.Dell.com/support/downloads/DriversList.aspx?c=US&CS=19&l=en&s=DHS&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_4300S&OS=WW1&OSL=en&CATID=&impid=

If you are not quite familiar with the Setup pages both driver below should help:

     http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/KCS/document?c=us&CS=19&docid=268873&l=en&s=DHS

Since SP1a was part of the reinstallation, you will only need to install SP3. The page below the States 'in order to install SP3, you must first have Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1a) or Service Pack 2 (SP2) "installed.".

Learn how to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)
(see manually install SP3 using the Microsoft Download Center or a CD)

IMO, it's better to download SP3 for:

Windows XP Service Pack 3 network installation Package for IT professionals and developers
     http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

I know that the above download is 316 MB and will take time to download, but from my experience, I had much better luck with that route. In addition, you can then save SP3 on a CD if you need to reinstall again.

Finally, the following page should help you in the process of installing SP3:

  • Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) include SP1 is the Virtual Machine for Java (MSJVM) installed on this and future Service Packs Microsoft remove it?

While the installation of Microsoft DirectX 9.0 c on my Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) operating system (not sure if the 2002 version in it's original state included SP1), EULA (EULA) provided the contract included a paragraph stating that "ONLY in regards to THE VIRTUAL MACHINE MICROSOFT FOR JAVA, YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED to INSTALL THIS OS COMPONENT ON A MACHINE THAT CONTAINS A ALREADY the VERSION OF THE MICROSOFT JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE". Assuming that the MSJVM was included with Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002), I advanced and accepted the EULA. I then downloaded and installed Windows XP SP2 and SP3, but wasn't sure whether SP2 and SP3 removed the MSJVM in any point. However, research on the question, I discovered the site "FAQ of Transition MSJVM" (updated May 7, 2004), who answered the question: ' if I install Windows XP SP1a or later, it will remove my current MSJVM? " with "No, the operating system upgrade will not remove a MSJVM existing on the computer" (http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/en/us/interoperability/java/faq.aspx). However, I can't find any instance of it on my computer.

    So my questions are:

    1. Windows XP Home (Version 2002) Edition include SP1?
    2. The MSJVM is installed on this version?
    3. SP2 or SP3 removes the MSJVM in any point to?

  • I have a Genunine Windows XP (Home edition) installed PC imy. My RAM is 3 GB. Can I upgrade my system Windows Vista withuot spend the extra money?

The product key for my Windows XP Home Edition is: XXXX-deleted-XXXX. While working in the PC, I get a MESSAGE"blingin on-screen ' OSB LOCKED: I want to know how to stop the message often displayed blinging."

My second question is can I upgrade my system Windows Vista freely.

My Hotmail ID of single widows is: [redacted]

    Rigaut

First of all - do not post in a public forum product keys.

Second - "OSB LOCKED"... Of course you did not mean "OSD LOCKED?  (a 'd' and not a 'B'...)

OSD is the "On Screen Display" and has nothing to do with what version of Windows you have - but with yor monitor.  Look here:
    http://www.thefakegeek.com/2009/04/how-to-unlock-an-OSD-lockout-problem/
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/other-desktop-PC-questions/OSD-locked/TD-p/40291

Last - is impossible to freely pass your system to Windows Vista.  Windows Vista is a product different from Windows XP and you will need to obtain a license.
